First play good coverage on the roll out to the right Bentley has to throw it away. 2nd and 10 play screen for a rumbling stumbling zig zag TD! Flag on the play way downfield at the 21 is called a block in the back by East. Brings back to the 31. Not a great call but I can see how it happened. Lots of bumping around on the zig zag run. Next play check down to the left dropped because it was slightly behind Wright. 2nd and 10 run, Wright had room but ran into his O lineman and dropped for a small 1 yard loss. Crossing route for 1st with extra tacked on after the catch on a late hit out of bounds by Bullitt. Just too obvious for the ref not to flag. Morton powers to the 5! Hall broght back for penalty 20 yard TD pass with no time on the clock!!!! Bentley is lighting Bullitt up! Goes for 2 and it’s good! 37-20 heading to the 4th

1:59 left in the 3rd. Ball is on the 25. Bullitt spreads field. Crossing route hits. Dropped receiver at the 3. Ugh. Up the middle for the TD on next play. Straight ahead power dive. Going for the PAT. BLOCKED! 29-20 with 1:28 to go in the 3rd. East ball coming up.

Screen dump to the left gain of 9 off a missed tackle. Up the middle for 3 and a first down. Leaked receiver out to the left wide open down to the 17 yard line. D continues to miss wrs and big sack!!! Dropped back at the 26!! Refs say 24. Check down to the right. Brought down for a 1 yard gain. East D is blowing up the O line of Bullitt and constant pressure in face of QB. Missed pass down right sideline brings up 4th and 17. TO for Bullitt. Wants to talk strategy.

First okay Wright breaks free over left tackle! Big gain of about 14! Next play straight up the middle for 2. Nice play calling tonight by East. Bullitt wants a TO to settle down. Bullitt D is already gassed or frustrated. Seeing quite a few taking knees. Next play on 2nd and 8 is a TD brought back by holding on the outside by WRinthink #6 got called for it. Brings back a 60+ yard TD. Oooof. Officials talking over ball placement. Screen to the right gains 5 3rd and 4. Slant for first and then fumbled! O lineman picks up and rumbles another couple yards! Crossed midfield to the 48. Wright tackled for a loss of 5 on quick penetration by NG. Tiny kid but quick. Little counter gains loss back plus another yard. 3rd and 8. Offsides Bullitt. 3rd and 5ish. Wright tripped up after gain of 2. Call it 4th and 2, East going for it. No good. Crashed the middle and dropped the FB for no gain. Bullitt ball. 40 yard line 60 yards to go to tighten this game up.

East kicks off, ball downed at the 34. Not giving Bullitt a chance to run the kickoffs with squib kicks. Bullitt looks frustrated. Breakdown in coverage leaves receiver wide open in the right flat. Gain to the 40. QB scrambles to the 34. Coverage much better. QB running for his life again first left the reverses field to right, has to dump. Tackle for loss on handoff!4th and 2. Recurring theme. Bullitt QB scrambling again, picks up 1st down at the 23. Next play, good coverage again, has to roll left and throws out of bounds right before sack. QB pulls hand off and runs left. Tackled. Bullitt staff wants late hit called, it was borderline. Dump pass underneath brings up 4th and 7. Screen stopped short of first down. Turnover on downs.

Huge punt return! Several broken/missed tackles and he’s across the 50 to the 36! Wright big run over left tackle for 1st to 22. Another big run up. Middle almost breaks free, brought down at the 6. Next play Wright bounces outside to the left and bulls in. TD East! PAT fake, dive for 2, GOOD! 29-14 East leads with 10 minutes left in 3rd qtr.

2nd half about to kickoff. Bullitt will be receiving. Kick received at the 20, 9 yard run back and Bullitt will start at the 29. Quick hitter to the left, gain of 10 and 1st down. Over pursuit again, hs the receiver for a small gain. Keeper by QB for 5, tunnel screen to the left, WR has it in the numbers and just flat out dropped it. Run outside to the left dropped just shy of 1st. QB scrambles for his life, big gain to the right, crack back block brings it back. Just blatant crack back right in front of the BJ. Punt team out for Bullitt. Nice series by the D. Still needs to stop the over pursuit

Bentley scrambles to his right. Good coverage, tackled for a small loss, East let's clock run out. Halftime, 21-14 East leads Bullitt Central. Taking a break now. ?

Bullitt lines up 3 wide, tries to draw East offside, no go, TO Bullitt when that didn’t work. FG try from the 20…. BLOCKED! Muffed hold. East ball at the 28 with 23 seconds til the half. 5 wide, tunnel screen to the left gains 5, 14 seconds in the clock. East wants to talk it over, TO.

Pass to the right gained 2, 2nd and 8, QB rolls to his left no one open, gets rid of it over receivers head. Running for his life to his left and has to dump again. 4th and 8 with 28 seconds on the clock. Timeout East. Fields and staff want to talk it over with the D to make sure they contain AJ I’m sure. Don’t let him get open space

Almost a sack! AJ scrambles backwards 20 yards and gets rid of it to avoid the loss in yardage. D coverage slips and pass caught for 1st down, next play a little dump underneath and out of bounds after 8 pick up. Toss to the RB, goes left and gains 1st down. Another scramble by QB, he’s down to the East 25. D getting to QB but over pursuing and he’s taking advantage. Timeout Bullitt.

D needs to get a quick stop, Bullitt D looks gassed already. Would be nice to get ball back with time to try another. Kickoff return for about 10. Ball on Bullitt 39

Morton (I think) takes handoff and cuts back up middle for 10, quick snap and Wright bulls 30 yards breaking multiple tackles for the TD. False start on PAT. Up and good on retry, 21-14 East leads with 2:36 left until halftime

Jet picks up 2, almost disaster on 3rd and 3. Quick slant batted down. Keeping o on the field and going for it. Fullback straight up the middle for 5 and first down Jaguars on the Bullitt 39.

14-14 5:04 left in 2nd qtr. East has done a nice job overall except a few big gainers given up to AJ and a missed tackle on kickoff led to a big return. Just had a nice return themselves and 1st play was a screen to the right for 5 yards

Any guesses here? I know East Jessamine is improved, know nothing about Bullitt Central. Can anyone chime in with some knowledge? I’ll take East Jessamine by a TD tonight though.

Completely agree. Especially impressed with Morton’s field vision and instincts. He should be a very important part of the team on both sides of the ball along with Cummins. My focus is on O line continuing to improve. They had flashes last year and with a full season under their belts with the blocking schemes, another season of S&C program, etc I think they will be very improved. A little tentative at times this past season, once they make that connection it will be a VERY fun team to watch.

Not to my knowledge but if I recall correctly, a student must be enrolled before the end of this school year to be eligible at the start of next. So still time.

East has had some transfers come in as I understand it. Athletes too, as I’m told. And they have been having good buy in on weight program in off season compared to previous years. East WILL be better and a winning record definitely is in play.

Green Co has always been a well coached and hard nosed team that just two years ago was 10-2 or 10-3 and were young last year as I recall. Lafayette has athletes all over the field and we’re better coached this past year than I had seen in several years. Nice variety of offenses and defenses to face as well, to prepare for playoff time. Those are two examples aside from Ashland that I mean. I know next to nothing about Bullitt Central or what Dunbar returns. Mad South and Montgomery County are district foes so it will be what it will be. I do agree with previous poster about biggest stretch of the season. If injury free (losing starter and backup QB heading into last 3 games this past season KILLED the vibes and morale), they have a chance to do very well with the offense installed.

They definitely aren’t shying away from competition. Love to see that Coach Fields is challenging his team to get better.

Oh I agree it is a step up in competition for East but you don’t get better playing weaker programs. I think they did well to schedule Ashland. I was simply pointing out East is an upgrade over West for Ashland IMO. Can’t wait to watch this game. Never been to Ashlands home field.
