Bentley bobbles handoff but recovers. Dropped for a loss of 4. 4th and 12 now. Wright takes it for gain of 4 up the middle. NICE toss to a sweeping Morton who cuts back up the middle for the 1st down. Next play snap over Bentleys head. All the wAy back to the 47. It’s now 3rd and Pikeville After a handoff to Wright gains 3 back. Screen to Cummins on the left gets sniffed out for no gain. 4th and 24 back to punt. Punt almost blocked! Big breakdown on ST. That will get them yelled at Monday. Kicker gets it off. Very little gain. Maybe 3 yard punt net gain.

At about the 11. 30.2 seconds left in the half and Dunbar wants to talk it over. Slant across from the left is good. TD Dunbar. 21-19 they’re going for 2 it looks like. East is having NONE of that and player is dropped behind line. 2 point play no good. 21-19 with 26 seconds to go to the half. Dunbar player down with cramps but walks off under own power.

Squib kick fumbled after a HUGE hit from 1 for East. Dunbar recovers tho. Ball at the 24. Dunbars backs are fast, small, and shifty follows their line. Gain to the 38. Timeout for injured East player. 6 walks off under his own power. East gets penetration but over penetration and gain of 8 for Dunbar. Wrapped up at LOS for no gain. 3rd and 2 to go. Hit at line of scrimmage but twists and falls. Just barely gaining the first down. BIG sack on the roll out by 10, loss of 8 and it’s 2nd and Nicholasville at this point. Wildcat play picks up maybe 2. East defense is flashing in the backfield. Just needs to maintain gaps. Screen pass to the left receiver breaks an arm tackle picks up big gain to the 34. Huge back breaker. D needs to keep their heads up and wrap up. Run over right side gains 9 because of broken tackle again. RB bounces outside to left side and picks up 3 and the first down. Back met at the LOS by East. Spins again, they give him 4. 2nd and 6 1:40 to go in half and timeout taken (I missed who).

First play QB rolls to his right, chased down by the D for a loss of 4. And correction, it is 14-13 not 14-14. End of 1st Qtr. comes at a good time for East D they need to regroup. 2nd and 14 as 2nd qtr starts. 11 for a jet around the left side and East sniffs it out. Just gains 2. 3rd and 12 coming up. Looks like a false start on the pass down the left side, East picked it off! East ball at the 34. Break they needed. Bentley swings pass out to his left. Morton picks up 6. High snap handled great by Bentley. Hand off to Wright picks up 6 and the 1st down. Bentley swings another pass to his left, Cummins is the target this time, pick up of 5. Handoff the the sniffer (fullback) Naylor, up the gut stumbling rumbling to the 20 big gain! Going to the hot hand to give D a break. Naylor up the middle moving the pile for 2. Wright takes handoff and dashes up the gut for the 1st down. Time out for injured Dunbar player. He met Wright at line of scrimmage and went down hard while play continued past him. Wright runs so hard. Load to bring down. Player walks off under his own steam. Number 8 for Dunbar. Handoff to Naylor gains 2. 2nd and goal from the 2. Defense not fooled, converges on Wright at LOS. 3rd and goal from the 2. Bentley’s high arcing throw is too long to the left corner. No chance for the receiver at all. Going for it in 4th and 2. Wright up the gut, mer at line and refuses to go down! Carries 3 into endzone with him. PAT attempt up and good. 21-13 East leads with 6:49 left in the 2nd qtr. nice break for the D players.

Dunbar tries a squib, it’s an ant-killer but recovered. At the 36. Handoff up the middle to Wright for 3. 2nd and 7. Screen to the left for Cummins big gain across midfield. 1st and 10 from the 49. Wright met at the LOS. 2nd and 10. Again up the middle for a yard. 3rd and 9. Chaos defense from Dunbar is doing a good job they fly to the ball. Roll out to the right, toss to Morton leads him just a little too much. 4th and 8 now they say. Going for it. QB keeper up the middle gains maybe 5. TO on downs. Dunbar takes over at the 41. Odd spotting of the ball.

Squib kick run back to the 38. Dunbars option giving the D fits. Big run across midfield to the 38. Option play to the right loses 4. 2nd and 14 FB up the gut for no gain. Check down pass dumped to the right side for a gain of 9. 4th and 5. Rolling out left, throws a wounded duck, safety high points it but WR tips it to himself for a bobbling catch in endzone. Wow. PAT attempt is good. 14-14 with 3:36 to go in the first qtr.

Squib kick run back for about 5 fumbled and recovered by East. At the 43. Wright up the gut for 7. 2nd and 3, ASUN bars chaos defense breaks through, 53 throws a great block and Bentley takes it to the house for a TD! 2 point try fails. 14-6 East leads with 5:58 on the clock in the 1st

Arrived late due to traffic, 9:05 1st qtr, East Jessamine is up 8-0 and Dunbar has the ball. False start, 1st and 15, followed up with a good gang tackle. 2nd and 15, sweep around left end is good for 17. Next play anothe defensive meeting at the LOS, they’re giving them a yard 2nd and 9 at the 14, Dunbar in wildcat, little 14 is shifty and follows his blocks to pay dirt around right side. Going for 2. Stopped, 8-6 East leads with kickoff coming up and 6:53 left in the 1st quarter.

Game time has been bumped up to 6:30 today not 7:30. Still at Dunbar.

Don’t believe the score. LexCath was taking them to the woodshed when in wildcat. I think they took their foot off the gas, personally. Chaos defense Dunbar runs is held up by stout linebackers but is susceptible to RPOs if they stay in it. Should be interesting to see what East and Dunbars plans are to attack each other.

I’m a little surprised at the lack of activity from Dunbar fans on these sites. I can remember when they first opened, lots of excitement about their football potential. 1991 and 92 were exciting years for them, boosters were starting to really gel and plan and then the wheels fell off except for a few good years. Had a cousin who ended up being on their first two teams. He was at Lafayette prior to that. Night and day difference between the schools.

Who wins this one? East Jessamine starting strong on the season.
