So are Daviess County kids transferring?

Coach Brannon has been with DCHS for 20 years. He may be just ready to be done. I can't speak to the reasoning. The answer to your question, though, is that kids within the physical boundaries of this county transfer among the four high schools more often than the average human being changes underwear.

  2. I saw on Facebook just now that Graves hired an alum: Tyler DeBernardi.

I knew Tyler and his brother Nathan from an affiliation with the Storm baseball team out of Paducah in the very early 2000's. He comes from a great family, and I'm glad he's getting a shot at a head coaching job. Best of luck to him.

  3. I feel like it's a selective call. Take a team from one "basketball region" into the next, and that team is bound to have 3-4 phantom holds. The percentage of times that they occur on 70 yard touchdown runs is curious at the least. Since it truly does happen on virtually every play, it's the number one way for an official to determine the outcome of a game.

Feel like you are misunderstanding what I wrote or it was poor word choice by me. He got hit hard early but I don’t think he was concussed early. He played great the whole half but I don’t think he wanted to take another hard shot like he did.

If memory serves me correct end of the second quarter he slid and took a shot to the head on a late hit. Graves lineman responded pushing the kid who hit the qb. Multiple flags thrown. After that play Graves brought in the backup punter (as the graves qb also serves as the punter.) Offense never took another snap that half and after halftime the freshman was in at Qb. Just wanted to clear that up.

I took it as they figured out he was concussed and then told him to keep sliding to avoid getting hit again.

    It's all good.

QB got hit hard early in the game. After being checked out at half time it was determined he was concussed. He hasn’t slid all year and usually entire sideline is screaming for him to slide. I think he took a shot and knew he was hurting and was timid.

I don’t recall the receivers sliding but if they did I don’t think that’s usual because I have not noticed that all year.

They left him on the field with a concussion? Liability anyone?

What are you supposed to do, just lay down and do nothing?

Mayfield had the jv and freshmen in the second quarter. Running clock in the first quarter. Nothing could be done except call the game.

Mayfield could have scored 136 points and I wouldn’t care one iota. I was making a tongue-in-cheek statement at our friend the Guru.

Football already plays less games than other sports. Players work all off season, practice all the time to only play a minimum of ten games. The amount of games is not a problem. Plus as people mentioned, no one seems to have a problem with baseball and basketball where everyone makes the playoffs, because the district tournament is the start of the playoffs for those sports.

So I think going down to 2 teams per district just isn’t enough at all. I could maybe buy going down to 3 teams per district making it. However, the same argument applies that I just mentioned above.

I'm going to challenge this argument by saying that MOST basketball districts are geographically small enough that a team isn't taking a 3-4 hour bus ride for their butt-whipping.

Yes football does play fewer games than the other sports, but is it disproportionately fewer than at the collegiate or professional level? 10 HS football games, 25-ish HS basketball games, 25-ish HS baseball games? NFL is 16 games, right? NBA 82, and MLB 162?

I'm sure I don't have the all of the numbers right. I'm not that up on the Limitation of Seasons bylaw.

    Rematch!

Absolutely - I will say this for BGHS. You guys do it right. Your cheer team invited my kids to take part in the tailgate before the regular season contest. Your football players took care of business without a lot of trash on the field. So, I look forward to being on the sideline again.
