The Devils should win this game comfortably, if they want to be considered a contender in 5A. Delacey has been performing well at QB showing consistency and poise in the pocket, with 8 or more RedDevils having receptions. The Hampton/Crowe or Hampton/Winstead combo at RB behind that offensive line for 48min is enough to wear down most defenses. If that continues the Devils should route the Maroons. Just too many weapons for the Maroons to stop or keep pace with. The Devils defense has made some shifts and seen some progress. If they can’t hold Madisonville to less than 21 there season will be ending early this year.

Maroons 19
I thought we both agreed we weren't going to make any more predictions.

Touchdown Apollo. Score put up on the Madisonville side of the score board.
it’s like National Lampoon’s Fall Break Football around here.

I was off about this game. I think I’m done predicting games this season.
We both could have been right. This should not have gone this way, for a myriad of reasons. At the very least, should have been close.

2nd flag on Madisonville…pass interference
no one knows where to put the ball.
sideline official literally says “I guess here will be ok.”

Meanwhile, chain guys are chatting and get them set after the play starts on a first down.

Madisonville is an incredibly disciplined football team. 6:20 in the 3rd and their first flag.

Halftime score is 21-0

Apollo beating themselves
Can’t argue with that at the moment. This team is not better than we are.

Johnson with a pass into the end zone on 4th and goal from the 34. ball slips through the receivers hands.
next play, long run for a TD.
14-0 Maroons

Official sees a sure touchdown for Apollo and throws a flag for a phantom hold WHILE the celebration is happening.
It doesn’t matter if it’s Henderson, Madisonville, or Hopkinsville/Christian county, it’s you versus every citizen in town in the Pennyrole Region.

Johnson with a bullet to Bratcher for a huge gain. Bratcher tripped up. 1st and goal eagles

Not the start we wanted.
Apollo receives the opening kick. Broken plays and a penalty. Punt team on for 4th and 20. Madisonville takes over on the 50

Call me a homer all you want, but I believe this is the week Apollo turns the corner and puts a district win on the board. Freshman QB Max Johnson has improved in each game he's started. The defense was much better last week against Graves. Two costly penalties wiped two touchdowns and a victory off the board. I am uncertain about the status of Niles Board for Friday night, but if he returns that opens some options for the offense.

I feel for Fulton County. Having grown up in that area, it seems like it’s been that way for the better part of 30 years. It’ll never happen, I’m sure, but consolidating with Fulton City would benefit both populations. People in that area of the state are too stuck in the past.

Apollo has some weapons. Niles Board who’s one of the leading rushers out with an injury limited options. Johnson is effective as a freshman QB starting varsity. Graves’ defense had him scrambling too often tonight. As mentioned above, flags hurt us. The updates thread says we had two touchdowns called back for holding. I think one of them was another illegal procedure flag. I’m not sure what was causing all of those tonight.
For me, this is three games in a row we’ve shown significant improvement. We needed the Muhlenberg game to get a win under our belts. Everyone knew Owensboro would be like running into a buzzsaw. Then tonight we put some pieces together on both sides of the ball. That “2-minute drill” in the second half was about 6 inches either way on a pass from becoming a touchdown. Kudos to the graves defender who managed to reach up and grab it.

I felt this.
I've gotten to where I can't stand to watch any college or professional sports. I love my position on the sidelines of high school football and basketball games. I'd 100-to-1 rather watch a high school game with two teams who are fundamentally sound than the showboating prima donnas of college and professional sports.
