  1. This hire would have be someone who’s willing to work with the middle school coaches and develop there. It’s hard to pull kids to the West side because Frankfort High gets kids mostly from tradition of family members playing there so it’s passed on to generations. And kids been going to county because of how close it is not to mention now with the run they’ve been on since Timmons days.

Wouldn’t this hire hurt or propel Franklin Co. as far as recruiting in district kids? Think there is a clear separation and status won’t change?

Not even close lol. You’d actually be surprised since 2000 how many kids play for Frankfort high but really live on the East Side. Some even lived not even 2 min drive to County.

I think you have to say this class was the best overall.  The numbers speak for themselves.  Also this group works harder in the weight room than what was even expected back in the day.  The toughness is just unbelievable too.  I agree with FLYGUY and his opinion and yes the Flyers lost as freshman to Central 18-6 after losing their starting QB before that game.  They actually had already beaten that Central team at Central earlier in the regular season when they had their starting QB.  In the 18-6 loss they actually were basically dead even with them at the half.  Amazing class and also a salute to Coach James and Staff for the culture he has instilled at 100 East Main in Frankfort.

We could be looking at a potentially 4-peat regional championship. Agreed on the weight room Coach Ledford and Coach James committing to that has be the ultimate game changer at FC to play with these big name schools. Talent has never been a question in Frankfort.

Roni, never made it  past second round, Ammons one appearance in 3rd round I think, Woodside and Timmons third round losses. This group won 3 region titles, state runner up, and two semi final runner ups, the frosh year they lost in second round 18-6 vs, Central without the starting qb. I could be wrong on that. Not sure this group has the most wins, but they have the most post season success.

We got into a debate about it and some alumni feel it wasn’t fair having 5th year seniors. IMO I don’t mind it, guys had an opportunity and made most of it. This has been the best run over 4 years of football in the Nitty. Looking forward to seeing what that sophomore class does when it’s all said and done.

I totally agree FLYGUY.  It was a different team than Corbin beat earlier this year by 20.  Heck, I thought the Flyers had them beat just under 4 min to go and up one.  This is really one of the toughest Flyer teams in recent memory.  Hats off to the Flyer Staff and the players.  The community is super proud of this group and I can't wait to see the younger Flyers going forward.  The future is bright on 1100 East Main.

Would yal say this senior class goes down as the best to come out of Franklin county? Better then Timmons and Woodside group as well as big Chris Roberts and Lorenzo group, or Fred Farrior class? I’m not old enough to see Roni’s group but was young enough to Remember Kalen and Meetchi Hicks senior group that suffered that heart breaker to Ben and Lexington Catholic that year.

Well, you can't have it both ways. LOL

In recent years I can't really see where many of these Ky. kids have benefited from the prep school route.  just my opinion.

Lol you’re right. But at the end of the day when you’re getting the attention these guys are already getting. Along with the AAU circuits and social media nothing wrong with staying home. I do feel them though wanting be on that national stage for potentially more exposure. Same here not since Rondo no one else comes to mind.

I have got to find some highlights of Cortez Stone. I will put it out there now. The state record for career rushing yards is on the radar. I looked up some game stats. One game this year he had 10 carries, 340 yards and 5 TD's. Last week against Logan County, 22 carries 363 yards and 5 TD's.

Possibly when it’s all said and done he maybe the best back out of Louisville since the Central Legend himself Mr. 2,000 Ace Wells.

Madison Central has had several beat downs this season, what’s going on there? Huge enrollment and school backs the athletic programs, shouldn’t they be more productive?

MC’s Juniors and Senior class had nice runs in middle school even the junior class winning the middle school championship 8th grade year. Problem they run into like all high school sports is keeping those teams together next 4 years.

We play the finals at Kroger Field on UK's campus, it would be cool to play the semis at eku, wku, murray, UofL, morehead and the quarterfinals at some of the smaller colleges like gtown, centre, pikeville, ky weslyan, cumberlands, union, campbellsville, thomas more, kcu and others. It would take the KHSAA doing a lot more planning but would be really cool showcase our best high school teams at our college football stadiums around the state.

That would be awesome for a lot kids when it came to help being recruited. Playing this games on a college field in the playoffs gets no better in my opinion to see what type of player you’re getting and finding hidden gems.

Warren East goes out 12-1 after a great season which saw them win their district for the first time in a decade and appear in a region championship for the first time in a decade. It was clear to me, once both teams settled in, that you could tell East was a team who had not been there before. The Flyers have and it showed.

It was an outstanding season for the Raiders, and I hate that it ended in such an ugly way for that team, but there is a lot to build on out Louisville Rd.

The experience paid off in the end.

  12. I’m taking Manual over Ballard and Male in the rankings and maybe even Trinity barely. They brought back almost everyone and King has gotten taller and bigger. Male not having Dez or Kaleb was bad enough then add in Jayden leaving too. Ballard is still to be scene with a new coach, heavy departure of seniors and no Gabe. Trinity has the talent but will have wait to see how everyone fits.
