    2011 was pretty special too. You had Anthony Hickey(Christian Co. High/LSU/Oklahoma St),Chane Behanan (Bowling Green High/U of L),George Fant(Warren Central High/WKU), Kameran Woods(Eastern High/Butler), Remy Abell(Eastern High/IU/Xavier), Tony Kimbro(Jeffersontown High/Georgia St), Ryan Taylor(Western High/Marshall), Treg Setty(Mason Co. High/S. Illinois/Ohio University), Donovan Kates(Christian Co. High/Manhattan), Vinny Zollo(George Rogers Clark High/WKU/Cleveland St) Jordan Shanklin(Warren Central High/IUPUI), Zach Price(Jeffersontown/U of L/Winthrop), Timmy Knipp(Elliott Co. High/EKU), Marcellus Barksdale(Tates Creek High/IUPUI), Lyonell Gaines(Eastern High/IUPUI), Jordan Percell(Campbellsville High/Morehead St),& a few others….

Whole Eastern starting 5 went D-1 and they still didn’t win it all that year.

That was a very good class too! Justin Miller(Owensboro High; Sweet 16 MOP) went on to play for Louisiana Lafayette, and Detroit Mercy, scoring over 1,000 points at the D1 level. I also thought the 2001 class from the state was pretty strong. No NBA players but a lot of kids that contributed in college. That class had Patrick Sparks(Muhlenberg County/WKU/UK), Larry O’bannon(Male/U of L), Brian Thornton(Manual/Xavier/Vandy), Brandon Bender(Ballard/U of L), Adam Chiles(Ballard/UK/Murray St), Josh Carrier(Bowling Green/UK), Carlos Hurt(Moore/U of L), Micheal Haney (Madisonville/EKU), Ronny Dawn(Newport Catholic/Marshall), Lamar Owen (Owensboro/Southern Illinois), Coric Riggs(Fairdale/U of L/Weber State),  Jeremy Kelly(PRP/UT-Martin), & several others.

Back when we’d get a Kentucky kid or two at UK and really let them play. I’m a UK fan but I always got love and respect UofL for getting Louisville kids to stay home and giving them a chance. Playing for your State or City means so much more.

That was a very strong class! The forgotten man from that group is Tyler Brown from Owensboro Apollo. Brown actually lead KY to a victory against the Indiana All Stars that year at the Louisville Gardens. He ended up signing with Illinois St after being named an All American at the junior college level. He scored over 1,000 points in just two years as a Red Bird. That was back when the Missouri Valley was a very strong league. (Wichita St made a Final Four while he was there.) Brown went on to play in the D-League for the Boston Celtics Maine Red Claws.

Definitely forgot man. That’s big time career after high school and not many times brought up!

Actually I do know what I am talking about. I’m not saying you are not right about which kids are where. I just telling you the housing market is and has been flipping for years and is finally starting to really hurt the roster at Frankfort. Reason FCHS and WHHS have certain kids is because of housing markets.

What does housing market have to do with anything when kids are going there regardless where they live. It’s all about tradition of playing for previous family members why kids go there regardless of where they live. Kids live right beside FC and will go to Frankfort High just to play with their cousins.

Woodford and FC had a date set to play. Once the new district was finalized FC had an extra team and that date got bumped. Woodford has got the best of FC last two years and they cleared the whole stands! Hopefully this hiatus is temporary. FC is not scared to take their but whippings if they got one coming.. No offense But Corbin, and Scott Co, Ballard, and plenty of other teams on their schedule proves they do not duck anyone.

FC Will have a lot of work to do to stay on the Pace they been on. Those kids and staff will work to get it done.

A lot teams are scared to take on the gauntlet schedule FC has taken these last few years unless you’re a Louisville school.

Problem in city of Frankfort is gentrification is occurring. Majority of the places to live in downtown are now being flipped and out price range of the average family.

Gentrification has nothing to do with that. If you really knew what you was talking about you’d know Frankfort High has almost half its roster lives on the Eastside each year and I’m going off since 2000. Even most the students at Frankfort live out of district.

The 2 schools didn’t play the previous 20 years either.  Why would a very small Class A school want to play a school 4 times larger.

Going off what happen when they did play. The talent at Frankfort high was up there able to play with County. Them were good games. Talent has shifted all way to the East side

  8. Hate seeing FC not playing Woodford this year because of the rivalry it is.  I’d like to know what Woodford brings back because FC is still loaded with a lot young guys who played this year. Game to watch for is GRC vs Franklin County end the year. GRCs RB Kalen Washington is a Frankfort baby and will be playing against the Juniors he won a 8th grade Middle School Championship with at Elkhorn Middle.

Frankfort and Franklin County haven't played each other since 2015.

Since 2014 Frankfort High hasn’t had the talent come through to play FC. Bad enough was out number but once the talent went away them games got super ugly quick. Sad and hate see that game go away because everyone grows up playing each other since kids and makes a fun rivalry. Had some great games from 04-12.

I played against everyone of those guys growing up and in HS, and Bud was always a stud from Scott Co.  It's a shame he got in trouble because he was destined to be a star @ Indiana.  Darius went on to went a State championship @ Mason Co. and National Championship @ UK.  Scotty was a stud player at UHA and Tennessee.  Shelvin had a great career @ Bryan Station (arguably the best player that has came through Lexington) and played on Final Four teams @ Butler, and had several stints in the NBA.  Vic was an All-American @ Georgetown College and plays professionally.  I know Arrez played @ Holmes, but what he did following HS escapes me.  Definitely, a stacked class that is right up there as one of the best!

To think Bud got in trouble 15 years ago and could’ve been the better pro out all these guys. Miller went to an Elite 8, Final 4, and a big time contributor on easily one the greatest CB teams of all time  Shelvin going back to back NCAA national championship runner up at a mid major as starting PG. Scotty being ALL-SEC few years too. Easily could’ve been 4 NBA players from class of 2008.

I have no kid in the game, But have u looked into the stats, Don't get me wrong, Jerome is a stud and had a great previous season, should he have went on to college, YES.  U give some of these kids an extra year and u would be amazed by some of them, an  Extra year make a HUGE difference.  Hamilton is a 4 year player putting up great numbers.  Just my opinion.

Completely forgot he’s a 5th year guy. Also from my understanding Hamilton is the lead guy for his team without him it’s a different story. GRC plays great team ball these last 2years. Seeing Jerome play 2 games that stand out Madison Central and Douglas game he wasn’t even close to being the best player on the floor.

It was the same thing last year, their path to the title was the path of least resistance to put it nicely. The 10th is terrible and they had a really really good draw, they didn’t get tested until the final 4. I think if you put them in the 6th,7th,8th,9th they don’t make it out of region last year or this year.

Agreed especially in the 7th and 6th would’ve been a different story.
