  1. Yeah I don’t get it. Either they really are that undisciplined and poorly coached or they think they’re HOTT stuff. Surely it’s not the latter because this team has proven nothing. They haven’t won anything! They got beat by Murray and blown out by Beechwood last year. This year they have won 1 meaningful game. I know it seems like I’m bashing them, and I’m not, I just want them to play the way we all know they can. Cause this isn’t it.

  2. I don’t think we are ready for the playoff push. We will win this game but They have got to tighten things up quick. They have this Friday and first round to get it together! Penalties, dropped passed, etc are killing us. They should have put at least another 21 on Murray. As the playoffs narrow down and get harder we can’t afford to leave points on the board dropping wide open touchdown passes and getting undisciplined calls. We won’t beat a LCA or Beechwood playing how we are playing right now. This team hasn’t faced adversity or had to really dig deep since the Paducah game. And if we are being honest with ourselves Paducah should have won that game. They hit us in our mouth all night! Since then it’s been nothing but cupcake games and our boys have gotten soft. We need to turn it around now. The time is now!

  3. Goodness gracious. A drop? Lol I get it and we should get the spot back come 2 weeks but this is ridiculous. Mayfield can’t help how weak western Kentucky football has become. We literally still schedule all of the bigger schools that will play us. Outside of driving 2-3 hours for better competition I don’t know what else we should do. This RPI formula is something else….

Wow! anyone have a link for stats?

Idk. But the announcers said that one of the kids on Pikeville was yards away from a record and one TD away from a record if I remember right. He destroyed them. I think he ended up with 5 total TD. As a mayfield fan, seeing him run all over them the way he did, I have no doubt Starks would have the same success.

  5. They’re definitely not the 15th team in the class. That’s my tick with rankings sometimes. They never just get it right whether it’s high school, college, or even pros. For instance, we know Beechwood, Mayfield, and LCA are the top three teams I don’t think anyone can argue with that. But these system generated rankings and algorithms just go off numbers alone, and that’s not always gonna give you the clear picture. I’m not suggesting anything else, those types of rankings obviously help when it comes time for playoffs and having a seeding structure to go by. But man… they can be better. My two cents 😜

I’ve got to think this kind of opens up 2A a little as well I think everyone just assumed it would be Beechwood and LCA again. I think now this might open it up for Mayfield and maybe even Owensboro Catholic.

Definitely. If Mayfield wins out should end at 2 and LCA at 3 with a home game for Mayfield in the Semis. Assuming things go the way we all think they will.

I missed the first 2 1/2 quarters. I am going to need to go back and watch it on Red Helmet You Tube. Even with the ref calls that truly were questionable, I can't shake the plays I saw Mayfield make and PT not make in the last 1 1/2 quarters and say PT lost because of refs. Make plays. Don't make penalties. Don't make mistakes. Mayfield made more plays and fewer mistakes than PT.

    Exactly. Thank you!

If I were a Mayfield fan.  I would say.  You know we were aided ALOT, especially the 2 minute overturned call, which you don’t have video replay…you called it a catch and fumble and let the play continue.  Yeah PT probably deserved to win the game and we got SEVERAL loose calls.  I hate the refs did that.

That’s probably what I would do - but I doubt I’ll see it.  I guess when you’ve absorbed it so many times you defend the cooking.

OR we can call it like it went. The refs sucked both ways. I’ll stand 100% on that play being incomplete. All day everyday. Let’s also not act like Paducah didn’t get over 5 personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conducts called the whole game. They were jawing and talking trash the whole game. Now me, i love it, makes the game more interesting. But after way more than several of them you just have no discipline and it’s up to the coaches and teammates to help knock that crap out. They didn’t and kid got another. Sucks when it happened but oh well. Nobody’s fault but that kids.

Uhhhh. The gift wrapping was your WR caught a ball then ran then was hit then fumbled…PT got the ball ran it back to your 35….probably game over…. No whistle…no incomplete…2 minute review…mayfield ball….homer bull.

He literally caught the ball, took a step and was smacked by a defender. A huge hit that sent the ball flying. He wasn’t able to make a football move or anything, he literally had just caught it. Everyone in the stadium knew it was an incomplete pass. The refs just beefed up the drama by taking so long to nip it in the bud. Nobody was surprised by the overturn.

  10. Paducah came out hitting man! Hats off to them they lit #4 up all night idk how he kept getting up. I really really hate the way the game ended. I feel even worse for the coach watching him plead and what seemed like beg the ref at the end after the PF call. You hate to see a rivalry like that with a chance for the streak to end on a final drive under 2 minutes to just be wiped away like that by the stripes. They were horrible all night for both teams, but the final call was definitely the worst. With that being said, as a player you’ve got to watch your mouth. It’s not the first guy who gets in trouble it’s the 2nd. And his teammates knew immediately that he had messed up. Discipline discipline. Hats off to Paducah though. IMO they didn’t get the chance for glory they deserved after the call.

  11. I believe mayfield wins. On one side, if you look at the Graves game and the 7-7 halftime score it’s like well no way they will have a chance with how Mayfield beat Graves. But then again Paducah has been super confident about this game and their chances this year and that has somewhat worried me. Not to mention Paducah JV, 8th, and 7th all beat Mayfield this week lol. This might actually be the year. Hopefully Saturday I’ll wake up and be able to tell myself “You worry too much’”

    Mayfield 28-21
