  1. Garrard County has played a lot better the past couple of games. 4 close games in a row. With a few different outcomes within those games, this is a .500 team. I wouldn't sleep on GCGL for too long. They've got a good young coach in Coach McRay who has his team starting to figure some things out. Their guys were role players last year, if not JV guys, and now they're expected to take the reigns. It's a process.

  16. Sparrow is a college coach. He seems to be pretty successful, no matter his age. Seems happy where he is and in a prime position to move to a higher level if he wants. Already promoting offseason/summer workouts. Lots of people are sleeping on Kasey McRay. Mercer alum, in the building as a teacher, high school and college coaching experience, and well connected throughout the community. Some people want the big hire instead of the best hire.
  17. Kasey McRay. Currently in the building and current Centre assistant. Former West Jessamine and Mercer assistant coach. Worked under Rick Pitino at Louisville.
  18. This region is a coin flip. After Lincoln, any team can beat anyone on a given day. Here are my teams that advance to region. 45th-Lincoln and Boyle Co. 46th-West Jessamine and East Jessamine 47th-Pulaski and Somerset 48th-McCreary and Wayne West Jessamine takes the crown this year.
  19. If I have a young, talented team, I'm playing whoever I can to get them better. You don't get better by playing bad competition just to improve your own personal coaching record. You also schedule harder to get them post season ready and improve for the next year or two. I want to challenge them, not settle for beating bad/mediocre teams. Take your team to the next level if you can.
  20. There was one team I was thinking of. I think they even got called out during a region week in review for having a weak schedule. Then I started thinking about why people are just scheduling easy and trying to get to 20 wins. Just look at at the OWP and OOWP on the KHSAA site. I like breaking it down by region. Easier to see.
  21. What is the point of creating a weak schedule, beating everyone by 20, and then getting bounced in the first round of the district tournament? Your team doesn't get any better by doing that.
