IMO Octaviaus and Resse are key components on teams that have beat the daylights out of some of the other players mentioned in this post. Maybe this award factors in who is still alive. I don’t know what Boyle has or North Hardin but IMO the scoreboard plays a role in these awards.
Well if that’s the case give it to Lavell or Wimberly. Or Campbell. If you take Oxendine off that team they probably still win district. Take Lavell Wright or Maine Wimberly off and I don’t think they do.

Could you be more specific so we may know the validity of your protest?
It happens all over and every year. In our district Octavius Oxendine is a tremendous player and I’m sure he will have a lot of success at the next level but I don’t think he was their best Defensive Lineman. Gavin George was the best player I saw all season and I saw quite a few teams play.

I was there. Central had its only success throwing to Gavin George. At half time North made an adjustment. They put Lovett over top George, basically followed him wherever he went. North also had their best corner follow him to whichever side he lined up on.
North fumbled 2-3 times in the 1st half and also had at least 3 snaps go over the QBs head. Once they fixed that they were able to complete their drives.
Central couldn’t run the ball at all.

It bothers me that every year they seem to give it to the best college prospect as opposed to who had the best year.

Meade County is healthy and is starting to play closer to what I thought they would at the beginning of the season. Meade has held 4 of their last 5 opponents to under 100 yards rushing and just got back its starting QB and RB. Meade played much better defensively against the pass vs Desales, intercepting 3 passes (2 by Richardson) and holding Desales to 80 yards thru the air. In their 1st meeting Meade decided to single cover Gavin George the whole game and was shredded by Elmore/George. If Meade can win the turnover battle they can pull off the upset.

Desales. Winner of the toughest district, with a blowout win over anther likely round 3 participant to boot. I don't know what went on against Meade, maybe they didn't want to show anything, maybe they were resting starters, everyone is entitled to one mulligan.
Desales wasn’t resting starters. Meade Co has its team healthy for the 1st time all season. Meade was using its 3rd and 4th string QB all season and has been without one of the top RB’s in the state. They all played Friday and your saw the outcome.
-
This was the 1st time having Austin Oppel (RB) and our starting QB on the field at the same time all season. Our defense really stepped up. Desales had a 4th and 1 from their own 35, up 10-6 and went for it but was stopped.

Jj Richardson seals the victory with his 2nd interception of the gAme. Meade wins!!!!!!

For some perspective, Demetri Scott, who leads the state in sacks with 23 For Desales , was 16 at the start of this season. Demetri is a Senior.
