  1. Roundsteak, the big monied interests at Saint Xavier call the tune like they always have. How in the world do you think they ended up with Wolford to begin with. His record in 5 years, just above the .500 mark.pitiful when you think of their resources and talent level each year. If coach Glaser was still coaching over that same five year span, i believe Mike would have added 2 more state championships over that period.

    Fyi, 44-22 is .667 win %.

  2. Did you have a problem when St X brought in a transfer quarterback from Memphis and gave his dad a job on the staff to secure his services? Or how about a transfer running back from Manual who is the reason X got by PRP in the playoffs.

More Trinity students transfer out of Trinity and play HS football elsewhere, than transfer in.

Drew Zaubi(QB-South Oldham'17) was named best of bluegrass QB this year

Larry Harper III(QB- Waggoner'16) and Brother Manny(Waggoner'17, UK commit)

Come on X fans, don't be bitter. It happens all over.

Point taken, Trinity is clearly better at transfers too.

  3. From the Food for Thought Dept...

Glaser was 7-14 against Beatty including a stretch where he won six of 10. He lost 6 in a row and was forced out. Wolford is 1-8 including a the current 7-game losing streak. Not to mention many folks think that X wins in 2013 with Charles Walker under Glaser's system. This issue is not Moore, Quick, Brohm, Anderson, Finch, or any other star player. Whiners only whine when they lose. T fans are content with the effort their players and coaches are putting forth. I am guessing next year if Anthony Palombino catches a couple of TDs against X the question will arise as to why he transferred to T his sophomore year. If X were to win then it won't come up.

I understand everyone on this site is a bit jaded including myself. Beatty and crew are great, coupled with more elite talent seeming to land on Shelbyville Rd, tough to compete on yearly basis. Not sure X, under current administration will or should enter the "arms" race for talent in top 2 sports.

Say what you want about Glaser but he understood what we had and had X competing more regularly with Trinity.

  4. I would be happy with a one point win. While Trinity is and should be the favorite, X is a lot better that they were in September. In addition, it is always hard to maintain the dominance that Trinity has enjoyed over the past few years. The X offense has improved to the point where they will score some points. If they are to win it will have to be on defense. I think that Mr. Garrett may have tipped the X game plan and philosophy for the game when he said "I'm ready to pound Trinity next week". When you hear those kinds of quotes from kids it is usually a reflection of something they heard from the coaches. I think that X has tried to develop "pounding" as their identity. Pounding is a time honored and successful brand of football. Is it also part of the reason for the rash of injuries X seems to be experiencing? My guess is that pounding Trinity won't work. You have to catch them before you can pound them. The Trinity kids will have to come in ready to absorb the shot in the mouth X will deliver. I remember the game in 2012. I think that the lead up to that game was a lot like this one. I thought Trinity looked a little panicked when James Quick was injured and they went down 14-0. That panic changed to resolve when the X fans cheered James Quick being injured. Coach Beatty said that when they cheered and his team saw them cheering he knew right then they would be alright. They will need the same resolve this week. They will have it.

X must move the ball and score, brilliant take... but true. Containing Jefferson, I meam Moore, is a nice thought but tall task. After quarter 1 injury of first game, announcer sounded like Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Handoff Moore, pass to Moore, screen to Moore... weapon is an understatement. He gets a bunch of touches then others get involved.

    Go Tigers

  5. My freshman year in 2001, we lost to Manual. Late in the game I believe it was tied on a 4th and long and Manual was punting. We roughed the kicker and then took the ball on a game winning drive. We also lost to Holy Cross to open our freshmen year that same season. The good news is we ended up winning the state championship our senior year, 2004.

    There's a chance! :thumb:

Good points, hoping for that outcome.

  6. The offensive scheme St. X runs does not fit the players it consistently is able to get. The 100% shotgun, 100% no TE's, and 100% no huddle simply is not smart. Also, they never have their offensive linemen in a 3 point stance. Trinity, however, does all of the above at times. While Trinity spreads it out and slings the ball around quite well, they also have the capacity to get under center and run downhill when they need/want to.

St. X needs to realize that they need to be who they are. Stanford would be a good example to follow. Multiple TE's, multiple formations, multiple tempos. Power run game from under center. Play-action passing. And spread it out occasionally.

100% agree, we have the kids to be successful.
