Beechwood 29 Cooper 13 - HT

Did the JV head coach stay on the field the whole game? 🤔

Sounds like some of the Pioneer faithful are not pleased with some of the coaching drama on the sidelines last night and taking it to social media.

Final.
Beechwood ties the score late in the 4th on a TD pass from freshman QB Bo Sowder to WR Payton Schuler.Sowder then completed a pass to WR Kolton Craycraft for the go-ahead 2-point conversion.

Who were some of the top performers in this game for SK?

Well when you have kids from 3 counties you can't say we are just a little 2A team. You can say we are a little 2A all star team though lol.
I wish you could see this series of posts the way we all see them. Truly.

There was a penalty on the play. That’s why they brought it back.
You’re right!!! Missed that one. I stand corrected!

Ryle 2-1 over Beechwood in scrimmage.
Very tight game. Should be a good one later in the season.
CORRECTION: 2-2
Tigers scored on a INT return and a TD pass early.
Two solid teams. Agree the in-season game will be a great one to watch.

Will the OC be Mark Goetz?
One of the absolute all time great men and coaches. I’m 100% positive this generation of player and ESPECIALLY parent wouldn’t handle Coach Goetz well lol.
Can’t remember a coach in my entire sports career who was both respected and feared like he was. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him a few times over the last decade and each time he couldn’t have been more kind and curious about how I was doing.
One of the good ones for sure!

I think the GREAT thing about this is that the Eagles - thankfully - have a large group of very dedicated men (and women btw) that have devoted a large portion of their lives to the Eagles youth, middle school and HS football programs. Some of those men are on the HS staff currently and I think that will make all of this, ultimately, a lot less painful than it could have been. Definitely a saving grace.
Best of luck to Coach Owens as he moves forward and most assuredly to the Eagles program, which, I think, will be perfectly fine with those men on the staff taking over and taking care of the program and players.

What in the world could lead to a resignation three weeks before the season starts?!!?

I’m not sure if I would say he was the best freshman last year, but definitely in the top 10 and probably top 5. Which him only being an 8th grader last year, just makes it even more impressive. He is going to be a stud for Beechwood in football and baseball for years to come. He is a special player.
Did you watch Fryman much at all? In particular, the CovCath game? Without question, he was the top freshman player I saw last year.
CovCaths team last year was much deeper/bigger/more experienced and Fryman’s receiving TD and kick return TD had the score tied at the half. Colonels pulled away in second half when they blanketed Fryman with 3 defenders.
There were definitely a few other standouts, but, I’m with @Voice of Reason, his dominance was second to none.

Sebastian is not on NCC KHSAA roster. Not a reliable source but also no confirmation he is at NCC. Lloyd does not have a 2023 roster posted yet.
Hearing he will remain at Lloyd. Whispers are NCC was an option but they elected to remain with the grateful Juggs.

Anyone downplaying Queen’s talent or possible massive future impact had he stayed with CovCath is lol/bitter/ridiculous.
The kid is a stud…

Remove. Them. All. Bye!
Any other move by either school is unacceptable.

I'm no longer surprised at all by anything like this swept under the rug. Truly shocking the extent people will go to in order to cover up.

Now that the tourney is over, what are thoughts on this?
My list would be:
1: Cam Boyd Beechwood
2: Jonathan Fitz CCH
3: Jack Hendrix Highlands
4: Matt Kappes Beechwood
5: Brody Mangold Conner
6: Dylan McIntyre Ryle
7: Ethan Bosley Dixie
8: Bradley Zekl CCH
9: Brayden Stidham Conner
10: Jason Dorning Holy Cross
11: Carson Shea St Henry
12: Ryan DeBurger Highlands
Only things I would edit would be to add Roman Furuta (Ryle) and include Matthew Resing as the St. Henry rep.

Boyd is the pick. I am totally puzzled how he doesn't have a high level D1 baseball scholarship. He is arguably player of the year in the entire state.
Frankly, I'm stunned NKU let him get out of Northern Ky. Seems like he would have been a perfect fit there.

All quiet in Park Hills!
Also, interesting Suli hasn't surfaced anywhere?
