  1. Weather could still be factor if played in sectionals. Some may play while others get delayed, which creates another mess. Better playing after regionals like Sweet 16 and if 2 A schools, region winner and at large A runner up, are playing in March tournaments good for them. I prefer it be done this way every year, but sure khsaa doesn’t want A competing with Sweet 16 and understand.
  2. Better chance mid- late March weather isn’t a factor. If they can play it next week, probably gets done, and A runner up not needed. After that who knows, weather forecasting above my pay grade. Normal year play by khsaa rulebook, 2020-2021 not normal.
  3. If covid spread is your concern I’ll take my chances with 16 teams in Rupp and 16 in Lexington area gyms rather 32 @ EKU in 5 day period. If A winner also make Sweet 16, sending A runner up is better than giving another region A winner 1st round bye.
  4. Play it after region finals. If team makes Sweet 16, send runner up in region A tourney. Doesn’t need played at EKU if schedule conflict. A lot of high schools in Lexington area to use. Play boys A during girls Sweet 16 and girls during boys Sweet 16. Teams have earned the right the play, need to find a way!
  5. Each school district, better yet each parent, need to make decisions regarding their own students & athletes. Ohio finishes football today (13 straight weeks) and basketball season is a go. KY & WV football have been start, stop & pause for 3 months, with KY and still month away from finish line. Hear they feel good about allowing football to finish since it’s played outdoors (doesn’t sound good for basketball) ...was it different Aug - Oct? During regular season teams have driven 125+ miles, on short notice, to allow their players chance to play. Alternative was drive a few miles across state lines, where many of their parents work and players visit doctors, dentists, etc. Not allowed because opponent more then 1 county removed. Can’t make this stuff up! The crayola’s used during KY & WV football season are now bleeding into basketball. Start & stop buttons have already been pushed with pause coming Jan - March. Mixing red, green, yellow, orange & gold (wv only) = rusty mess. End result has been nothing but confusion, frustration, disappointment, etc. Bottom line - taking 99.80% free throw shooter off line because of .20% chance of miss - wrong game plan. I’m a fan of younger people playing offense, older defense and those in middle going both ways.
