  1. First and foremost, huge congrats to @coachhawk . I am shocked at the outcome, but I'm happy for the kids at Doss to get a win over a truly GREAT program. That is a major pelt for Doss and they should enjoy it.

Birds, ignore all of the adults that are fans / alums, and the ones that are simply jealous haters. HS football is part of your development as men, not a destination, and do not let a tough year define you as a team...or as a man.

I couldn't like this post enough. Our boy's are hurting that this year is over. For the 3o some players they may never play football again. Yes this has been a bad couple years for Highland's but the kid's loved every minute of it. Even when they would lose a game the parent's would be mad a week later while the boy's was worried about the next game. There's enough blame to go around if we really wanted to do so be it coaching staff, talent, not changing things up a bit but it's to late now and the end result is this. OUR SEASON IS OVER. We still must all stand behind our young men and make sure they hold their heads high. They gave it their best when the opportunity presented itself. They never gave up that alone should be a pat on the back. I know for a fact the coaches and kid's read this stuff and I can only hope that once they do they will see they are bigger and better to believe all the hate and over come this year. IT WILL ONLY MAKE THEM STRONGER. I personally think each and everyone of our boy's are great and they will shine in whatever they choose to do with their lives. Congrats to Doss

  2. I have read most of this thread and I am suprised by what I read. As a coach, I can say that as leaders of these young men, we get to watch these young men grow up in front of our eyes, learn to be a part of a team, struggle together and enjoy the game of football for the few short years we get to be with them. We all have different pressures, whether it is winning 10 games, as it seems for HHS or wondering where the next meal is for some of my players. Regardless of what we all think or say or do, there continues to be some pressure. Our kids thought that playing against HHS was an honor and they felt even more privileged to win a game against such a storied program. I can also tell you that HHS kids were amazingly polite, classy and great sportsman. Our kids at Doss have not stopped talking about how "awesome " Highlands was. What we all need to realize is that in this case, at 3-8, HHS football made an impression on the Doss program that has only won 13 playoff games and it wasnt even about who won or lost. If i am a parent, coach or player, heck even a fan, I would be so proud to be a part of the Highlands tradition. As much as the win meant to Doss, the impression the HHS program left on our kids was priceless.

My son said the same thing about your boy's. he said " they was the most polite team they had played all year". While it was very sad to see the stands on your side empty I could only imagine what they could do with more participation and support from the parent's. They are not even my children and if we had to lose to anyone I for one am glad it was to them fine young men. Congrats to your boy's on a great game.

  3. Back to the game, the trouble I see with the Birds and the tall Doss offensive weapons will be the lack of height in the secondary. I am going to go out on a limb and figure these Doss kids are very athletic and can jump which makes things even tougher.

Hahahahhah omg height and being able to jump YEP we are in trouble. I bet they can run faster as well lol. I'M keeping my kid home lol

  4. I will give you that. The lack of player moves until the last 2 games had me scratching my head as well but I am still not sure they wouldve been enough changes to get them to a winning record.

See that's something none of us will ever know. BUT I do know this, we haven't lost a game since they did the adjustments

  5. I get the feeling you think the coaching staff has blown this season and it isnt the lack of talent on both sides of the ball. Am I correct?

I had to laugh at this one sorry lol. I think the coaches, parents and kid's are shaking their heads wondering what the heck is going on to be honest. THE adjustments being made now should have been made early on in the season and maybe we wouldn't be where we are now? Playing done in D line was a great move, putting other's in places they are in also a good move.

  6. @ cupcake2106

I'm very close to the program and have NO idea what you are referencing.

You haven't seen the best 11 out on the field all year long either have you? These boy's get called out here all the time for having no talent when that's not the case. There is Talent it just needs to be put to good use

  7. I am not saying it will be easy. I am very familiar with the success that HHS has had over the years. What is so scary?

Scary is taking our boy's down lol. I prefer no injuries lol. Ask them to just yell boo that will work lol. I'm kidding just the way you wrote it was like they was going to take our boy's out lol. BEST of luck to your team

  8. HHS has a ton of tradition but Coach Hawkins at Doss has completely changed the culture at that school. He has a ton of talent and has the guys believing they can win. I look for Doss to knock off the big boys from NKY.
You look for Doss to knock off the big boy's from NKY? THIS sounds kinda scary for many reasons hahaha. Good luck to Doss but I have to stand behind our bird's.
  9. I heard a fella last night keep saying "lying in the weeds". He seems to think the Birds may make some noise in the playoffs. Here's hopin!

We can only hope. After watching last night and seeing them play 91 he's a great addition to the defense hopefully he will remain a permanent fixture. I think we still need some adjustments but I think they are getting it.
