  1. Any player that says "they don't care," shouldn't leave the locker room.

Anything new about the clipboard holder? If not, maybe he belongs with the I don't care players. Don't worry, they can still say that they were HHS football players. All I know is what I heard on BGP about the clipboard guy, don't even know his name and don't care to.

If the players aren't fired up for this game, there is something big time wrong with the program.

Nope. No different still a want to be. Which is terrible because he could help in so many ways. If they don't win this game I think it's over.

  2. A team needs senior leadership, they set the example. Coaches need to adjust to the talent of the team they have. It is obvious that the defense at Highlands is struggling. Get your best players on the field and go for it. Mix it up. Defense Wins Games.

I would totally agree with you the defense is struggling and struggling bad. However the one's out there playing the coaches must think are the best one's that we have to choose from. The problem lies in even when the senior say something the rest of them do not care. My son claims as do many other boy's to a lot of the boy's as long as they can say they are on a team that's all they care about. Let me tell you these boy's are very frustrated with the whole situation. But at the same time like they say you can't make these boy's do something they don't want to do

  3. Why don't you want your son on that field? I look for the Birds to put their best foot forward this week and accept the challenge, but there is only so much that the coaches can do. If the "will" is there, this game will be tight and if the ship has sailed then I would expect a 2 or 3 touchdown margin.

Many on here talked up CovCath last year in this very game and Highlands came out and played a pretty vanilla game on both offense and defense, but still came out victorious. The leaders of the team need to step forward and be heard whether vocally or through their actions at practice. The underclassmen need to follow the lead or get a friendly reminder of what it means to wear the Highlands uniform. Win or lose, it is not always the score on the scoreboard as much as it is the effort that was put forth by each and every individual that is a part of the team.

I have asked these boy's the same question over and over and over. They have talked to the underclassmen and the main one's who play and it's as if not many care if they win or lose. I don't know what it's going to take to get these boy's going. I think it's very important these boy's know the community stands behind them as well as the parent's and get the spark back. I have noticed at every game these kid's act like nothing bothers them, while the other team's are all pumped up yelling each time they score, having a good old time and ours just high 5 each other once in awhile. WAKE UP BOY'S.

  4. Dunn at nose limited movement. Angel did he fall from heaven he still doesn't make the field are you kidding me. Also believe Cooper, Sisson and group deserve a look. Put them in the rotation.

Yes I love watching Sam Taylor play. He does a amazing job at getting the tackles. What I think is so funny all year long it has taken more than just one guy to get the tackle, in most cases it's 2 or 3 of the boy's doing it. My son always say's did you see this or that and I say nope I was watching 44 lol. He is a awesome player. Sorry son

  5. I agree there is a major difference, but how do you know they couldn't compete or be better if not given a REAL chance. I know the frosh isn't getting a chance but are the JV? I agree something is up, the JV isn't competing enough or not given a good enough look at. You would think everything would be on the table at this point.

I agree on why have we not looked at the JV. My son played some varsity while playing on JV because there was kids above him that were much better than he was. He wouldn't agree with that statement but I would. Because at the end of the day I don't want my son on that field.

  6. From what I gather, your last sentence here speaks volumes. For those that say try sophomores, I ask again where should they be playing? And if they are not, then why are they not playing? Either they are not ready or there are bigger issues than we suspect.

As for the whole frosh size thing, just because you are taller does not necessarily make you a better football player. There is a big big difference between frosh football and varsity football.

Well and that's the question I'm asking . Where should they be played or should they? I would think there's a reason some of them aren't playing because as I've stated we aren't there at practices and we all think our children are the best and should be playing. I don't think freshmen are allowed to play with Varsity are they?

  7. I do believe we have quite a few sophomore is helping out this year. Huddleston would be one of them on the d-line. And he is one heck of a player when he's in. I just don't understand why some weeks he's in and some weeks he's out. We have some decent size boy's standing there at every game. Not sure why they aren't playing but they aren't. My guess would be there's a lot going on in football practice that we as parents have no clue of. I can tell you one thing that I know for a fact. These coaches give their all to these boy's and deeply care about these boy's. I truly believe if they thought they could fix this problem they would have already done it. But ultimately at the end of the day if you have kid's who aren't in it for the game and only in it for the sake of being able to say they are on the team what can you do?

  8. My son said he is trying to get the Brent kid over to the D because he isn't getting much playing time on the O so let's hope he does it. The boy's say he is a pretty good player. I asked him why they don't have kid's going both way and he said it isn't that easy. You have to be able to read the D notes and the O notes more or less and if you place a child on a side they have never played you have more of a problem.

  9. Statistically speaking, HHS has given up more yardage to running plays than they have given up to passing plays this season. That would indicate, generally speaking, that they struggle to match up to teams on the line of scrimmage, which would imply (again, generally speaking) that their defensive line and linebackers are the biggest trouble spot on defense. They have also had games where they have given up more yards on the passing game though. You can also chalk some of that up to the fact that those were teams like Ryle and SK who have superior quarterbacks and passing game.

Unfortunately for HHS, they seem to have defense that is all-around "weaker" when compared to HHS defenses of the past, and they also have one of the most challenging regular season schedules in the state which is compounding the fact that they are not as strong as usual when it comes to their defensive performances this season.

I would totally agree with this statement also. But then what's the answer? We don't have any big boy's on the team really.

  10. Well thank you very much for such kind words. I know my son hates to lose but like we have told him you fo your best and that's all that matters. He isn't your best performer out there but he's not too shabby either. And I just hate to hear all that negativity on any of these boys. I'm hoping this week will be different and we will win and maybe then it will put a spark in these kid's that we need.

  11. Wow I'm new to this group and afraid to say my son plays for Highlands on the D side. Don't shoot me please. But I would like to say one thing about all these young men. They do go to practice everyday and they are for the most part giving it the best they got. This is a great group of guy's. We as a community have to stand behind our boy's good or bad. These boy's are just as frustrated as us parent's but they aren't giving up and we must not either.

  12. Just wanted to drop bye and say hello. I am a new member as of today. Not really to into sports but my son plays for Highlands so I figured I would drop bye to see what this is all about. I have 3 wonderful children and have been married for 27 years. Other than that I'm a boring person lol. Nice to have this opportunity to talk to some other parent's
