Did the wheels fall off of the Camels or what? This is a team that looked very promising at the beginning of the year!
-
I can only wonder how many games would have went the other way with Shover in the line up. The rivals better get thier wins while they can, CovCath will bounce back.
How about Brian Romes, what if he would have stayed at CovCath?
-
Wrong, Highlands handled Boone Co earlier in the year and have proven they can beat top state competition. They gave Holmes a nice run in Covington last friday cutting the lead to 5 late in the 4th. If you are going to say they dont belong atleast give me a solid reason. :ohbrother:
...because they have lost to Beechwood, Conner, Brossart and NCC but that is for another thread. WE cannot turn all threads to Highlands.

I'd say most every coach is "blessed" when they have talent. Other than that, I don't think you really know any of the situations well enough to comment as much as you did but I'll just say most of you "insight" is way off.
I'll agree and leave it at that.:deadhorse:

I have heard many parents yell the exact opposite of what a kid has been taught many times.
-
hahahaha that is funny! I do think parents would be better off encouraging the kids to support and respect the coaches overall and not getting involved in being critical of their playing time.
Did I take your post about Coach Biggs (In another thread) wrong? You sounded critical of him only playing 7/8 players.

Most problems, if not all, are parental problems at the root.
I think some can be coach problems, but I seem to think most problems are parental. I would like to think there are more good Coaches than bad. How do Administrations deal with supporting the coaches?
-
After reading the thread about Ashland/Boyd Basketball, I was wondering how many of the problems there are from parents not kids?
What do you think a coach owes a parent?
Does a coach need to communicate with parents or are they coaching their kids?
Do the kids quit because of the coach or because of their parents problems with the coach?
Are the kids to "soft"? Is it just to hard?
There is a lot more questions here, but I think you get it!

It is not just Highlands, Beechwood doesn't have a 6th grade team either.
-
So how much do you think playing a DIII schedule hurts? I'd say a bunch looking at this score.
-
I'm not arguing ,just stating my opinion and it is different than yours. Good Luck Tigers!
-
Maybe athleticism, but the ability to switch sports has to go to Slusher. Daniels is definitely struggling with the switch and it is my opinion that Slusher would have adjusted better. It is different types of athleticism. You are right about Downton though, he would have physically been able to make the switch and could have helped.
You still have to put in the work though.

You cannot just play basketball during basketball season. That is the difference in this years team and teams of the past at Beechwood.
You get better during the off season not just by playing 2 and a half months a year. That is what I mean by a pass. It takes a special athlete to excell at more than one sport. I'm not picking on JD but since he is the only footballer on the Tigers team he is the only example I have. I'm sure you have seen him play this year and there is no way you can watch him and say he is ready to contribute full time. It just isn't there yet.
Now if Brady Slusher had decided to play being the type of athlete he is, I think his contribution would have made more of an impact.
If the footballers are willing to work with the basketballers during the off season for the success of the team than that is GREAT. The past has not shown that to be a fact. NO PASS. Keep it going Tigers!
-
IMO ... Corey Crane and Michael Colosimo.
..and if they don't want to put in the time they shouldn't play. Joe Daniels has been a nice spot reliever but in no way been a factor in this teams success. He has only been with the team for a little over a month and still has yet to find his basketball timing.
He is the only football player on the varsity, the rest of these guys have been practicing and playing together for months and through the summer. The football players cannot expect to show up in late December and become an immediate factor for a team.
This has been a problem in the past for Beechwood basketball. Football players were given an immediate pass and special treatment. Rick Schumate has made them earn their place something coaches in the past have not done.
Keep it up Coach!!!

Good for Holmes maybe more kids will get involved and stay involved.
-
Like who? Other than Hall and Romes who did they have?
Hall and Romes!!:bunny:
-
I would say that some teams like Beechwood wouldn't mind it, but you can't really expect the other teams to want to play bigger schools. As for the ballot, Hall was on the all conference team and Romes so the coaches didn't snub Beechwood.
Hall was not on all the ballots. He was snubbed by a couple of coaches as were all the Beechwood players.

Knowing it and facing it are two different things. Ask Boone Co how physical it will get on Friday night. They pushed 6'6 Andy Earls and 6'5 McFarland all over the place. Grote and Kowolonek were step n step with the lightning quick guards also. For 32 minutes the Beechies are going to see it.
Have you seen Beechwood play?
-
I think you are reading into his post a little too much. I think he was just trying to emphasize that the Tigers havent seen defense like they are going to see on Fri night. He is allowed to choose a winner isnt he?
Mustang is always respectful of teams.
That is why I said it is out of character for him. He is allowed to pick a winner and maybe you are reading to much into my post. By the way I know Mustang, nice man and I respect him. I doubt he has seen Beechwood play and I was comparing BHS schedule to BBHS and at this point do not see much difference.
-
How does it keep teams competitive? or who does it keep teams competitive with. The bigger schools would schedule the DIII schools, some DIII schools only set there sights on winning the conference. Schedule the DIII teams twice if you want but don't require everyone to play them twice.
-
Wendy's double from the choices but my favorite burgers come from Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
Five Guys' regular burgers are doubles. Their "Little" burgers are large singles. A regular order of fries easily feeds 2, with some left over, and their large order feeds a small table of people. The hot dogs are the best in town, too.
OOH OOH I love Five Guys Burgers but Five Guys don't like me!:creepy::creepy:
-
Old School, very Old give me a Big Boy. That is a taste that gives me a warm feeling the memories of the original fast food burger.
-
I'm about 99% sure that Hall was on the DIII all conference team, but didn't win POY.
Why exactly is it that you think the DIII coaches are petty?
I'm 100% sure that some DIII coaches left him off their ballot, not all but some.
That in itself is petty!
I'm sure not all the coaches are petty but it only takes 1 or 2 to turn it nasty.
What is your opinion of playing each team twice in DivIII. Good/Bad/Neither?
-
Welcome to the real world of big time high school basketball defense, Beechwood Tigers.
Could be a very frustrating night for the Red and White Tigers.
Good luck, but I don't think so.
I really find this post out of character for you Mustang.
Remember we are talking about HS kids!
Now tell me how to this point in the season, Brossarts schedule has been more challenging than Beechwoods?

I have to agree with BF here. It seems to me a lot of the post here are pretty self-serving.
