What does an AED cost a school to buy? $1,200? There are few things more certain to cause death than if your heart stops beating for very long. 4-6 minutes you got brain injury. 10 minutes you're flat dead and not coming back. You can wait 10 minutes for an ambulance to roll for a lot if not most injuries. If your heart ain't beating for 10 minutes you're just plain screwed.
If a school had an AED at each facility or AEDs to travel with each in-season program, what would that cost? Less than a new scoreboard; less than upgrades to the concession stand; less than new uniforms; less than a new stadium entrance; less than a new fieldhouse; less than laptops for all students; less than a lot of stuff.
At a lot of venues it's probably more likely to be an out of shape coach, stressed official, or agitated parent in the stands who keels over. Bad for them and a crappy rhing for little Johnny or susie to have to see, right? Just think about some of the large, red faced shouters you see on the coaches sideline? Can we really not get some more AEDs at schools? Come on people!
