So a few more details to the game.... Highlands controlled possession a good portion of the game but the Cru defense really played well. Annie Rice, Stacey Staub, Erin Cheek, Natalie Pope, Caroline Gartner, all did a great job keeping Highlands out and when they did get through Keeper Cori Riegler made some great saves preserve the shutout.....Highlands had a couple chances in OT with one of the shots even hitting off the crossbar.. Onto the PK period..... Riegler was the first to take a kick for St. Henry and it went high I believe Deckert took the first for Highlands and it went high as well Next Natalie Pope took a shot that was blocked by Highland Keeper Maggie Hinegardner but keeper was called for leaving her line too early...re-kick went wide right Then Highlands player shot was off frame as well 0-0 after two rounds Round 3 Abby Keiperts shot was blocked but Highlands keeper again was called for leaving her line-Re-kick by Keipert and this time she nailed it Riegler stopped the next PK that took a funny bounce after she blocked it and almost rolled in from the backspin of the ball but she reached out to stop it from crossing the line just in time Round 4-Hinegardner makes the save vs Stephanie Grome from St. Henry and Riegler punches Highlands shot over the top of the goal 1-0 St. Henry after 4 rounds Round 5-Erin Cheek from St. Henry with an great shot to seal the win for the Lady Cru.

Game ended at a 0-0 tie then no score in the two 5 minute overtime periods and then St. Henry comes away with the victory in PK's.

Great win by the Cru tonight. St. Henry scored two goals early in the first half. One by Mackenzie Kent and the other by Stephanie Grome. Dixie scored early in the second half to make the score 2-1 and then St. Henry added a third goal with under 5 minutes to play to seal the game.

In our game it was obviously ruled incorrectly then because the goal was made and she was not given the opportunity to kick again.

Ok rules experts....In the Dixie/St Henry game the other night during pk's one of St. Henry's player made a goal but she studdered heading towards the ball. The refs discussed it and said no goal and there was no rekick. Should there be a rekick in this situation or does the player automatically lose their shot.

Extremely hard fought district game as it always is when these two teams play. There was some strong defensive play and both keepers, Cori Riegler (St. Henry) and Lily Paganetto (Dixie), made some great saves to keep the score tied 0-0 at the end of regulation. When time expired the game went straight to PK's. Normally there is an overtime period and then PK's so not sure why that was different last night. Dixie won out in the PK's to take the district win.

Grace Vonlehman scored with about 4 minutes left in the game to give St. Henry the lead on a follow up shot from McKenzie Kent that the Campbell County keeper blocked. Both teams battled hard in this one with some great saves by both keepers to keep this game close.

I believe Weifering scored both goals for highlands. Game had about 1 hour delay due to lightening. Stephanie Grome scored the lone goal for St. Henry on a direct kick late in the second half. I would say highlands controlled most of the game with quite a few shots on goal.

We will have a better idea about our team in the next couple weeks after we play some of the top teams in NKY. We scrimmage Notre Dame next week, followed by Simon Kenton and then open the season with Highlands.
