  1. I was thinking the exact same thing. Cooper's projected starters (IMO) are going to be:

    Kunkle

    McNeil

    Runion

    Walters (part-time starter last year)

    Baker

    (or Holy Cross transfer Houston)

    Who is he replacing?

Starts in front of Baker (superior all around player IMO) and likely Walters (more physical and better rebounder).

Better fit for Cooper’s style of play than Houston - gets up and down and moves better laterally than Houston (good player but heavy footed).

I think he’d be a great fit at Cooper facing the basket - but it’s all hypothetical- kid’s at Cov Cath and is staying at Cov Cath.

  2. You have to score points to win. Which means Michigan is in trouble.

Michigan would love a low scoring game - control the ball on the ground, keep it away from PSU's offense.

Unfortunately, MSU showed the world how to stop Michigan, and if Harbaugh panics like he did against MSU this one could get get away from Michigan.

    PSU 20

    UM 6

  3. I watched via webcast this past year - really was a terrific way to see the games without having to make the trip, pay for tix/hotel, etc.

I admit that makes me less of a fan than some, but I felt the pay-per-view option was very good value.

I'm curious if anyone else took this same approach and how you felt about it.

  4. Miles is an elite athlete. He will play D1 and you will watch him on TV. Kelch is 6'8 with a good offensive skill set, and a great kid. However, he can't guard a small forward or power forward at a major D1 school. Miles has the athleticism to guard either. Kelch's academics qualify him to play for a military branch. Miles will not have the grades to play at that level(no rap on him, most don't have those grades)

Stanley is better than any of SK's guards - not close. He was all region for a reason. Clinkenbeard is good as well although he lacks the athleticism to be D1.

It should be a good game, either could win, I like WV.

Miles' ceiling is extremely high - he will get plenty of D-I offers before it's all said and done and be a very good D-I player. Long, athletic, competitive - great defender and and his offensive skill set is expanding rapidly.

I wouldn't be surprised if he puts up very big numbers against Kelch - and all other teams - this year. Walton Verona could be in for a special year.

  5. The injured player was #26 Senior WR/DB Jake Massie. From what I heard from someone on the field, he landed on the ball after a reception and was apparently coughing up blood. Haven't gotten any updated info, but I think the trip to the hospital was more precautionary than anything.

Hope he's ok. He's had quite a season this year. One of those incredibly valuable versatile PRODUCTIVE player in all aspects of the game. He may not be one of the name players, but he certainly is one of the key cogs in the Tiger engine.

Coughing up blood seems like a pretty legit reason for an ambulance ride...any sort of internal bleeding needs to be treated immediately. I hope the young man makes a speedy recovery.

  6. One thing is clear from this game - Beechwood can compete for a state championship.

Most people would look at this game and say - "6A vs. 1A - should be an easy victory for the big school."

Some people would say - "SK is an elite 6A team - should be a blowout."

I say - "some things are true whether you believe them or not."

  7. I was sitting in at my computer and I thought I heard the announcers saying it was the right call confirmed by replay.

In real time it was so close. I jumped up screaming TOUCHDOWN!

My initial reaction as well. Great job by the Ryle staff and team recognizing the spot and lining up to spike the ball so quickly. Really impressive - they gave themselves a chance to win the game.

  8. It was really close.

    I plan on replaying it.

The replay showed his elbow and the ball touching down at the one-foot line. If he'd stretched the ball out it's 6. Same could be said about the last play. Looked like he didn't get possession cleanly on the sneak and got swallowed up.

The spot at the one-foot line was good.
