Who is going to win?
Hard hitting, field position, ball control game. From my perspective NCC getting to halftime 0-0 is a win for them. This is the kind of low score game where a broken play or big defensive play can go in their favor to break it open.

I believe this is a very good Russellville team, I definitely think that NCC having to travel to Russellville gives Russellville the advantage. As a fan of NCC I'm hopeful this game is similar to the 2015 playoff game where a very good 12-1 Danville team came to Newport as a heavy favorite against a 8-5 NCC team with a young QB and walked away with a loss and NCC advanced on. As I was looking for what year that happened though I noticed even on the years they have lost in different rounds almost every time has been a one score game.

Brian Francis Eviston Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information (dmefuneral.com)
Eddie Eviston's brother Brian passed away on Wednesday. As many people know in November 2016, Brian was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS. Even after being diagnosed with ALS Brian continued to give back. His family and friends formed Team "B"elieve and he distributed those funds to other families living with ALS all over the country. Many are familiar with the Team "B"elieve fundraiser scrimmage between Newport Catholic and Covington Catholic. This comes on the heels of Eddie's other brother Sean passing away in August. Just have so much sympathy for what their family must be going through.

Highlands 21
CovCath 3
0-0 Halftime score. CovCath got on the board first with a FG. Then Highlands RB broke it open with 91 yard TD run. Highlands then had a pick 6 later, before their last score from close finished off 21 unanswered points.
It should be noted that CovCath’s starting QB was knocked out of the game when a whistle blew a play dead but Highlands DL did not hear it and hit him hard. Ending his night early.

I’m watching this on game with no sound on and I’m so confused on what’s happening. Coaches are on the field. Players are lining up and then walking off the field. It looks like the officials had no control of the situation

Chase had one pass and dropped it.
Chris Evans looks like the real deal so far.
But overall, backups got in pretty quickly. Mostly inconsequential.

New update: Sounds like Trae Waynes has injured his hamstring so be on the look out at the depth in the CB position. Will they use Darius Phillips as #2 to keep Hilton in the slot? Or will they move Eli Apple to the opposite side as the starter?
I thought the defense lacked depth last year behind all of those injuries, this year it seems a little better. If this injury is serious to Waynes, a guy like Winston Rose or Jalen Davis would need to step up to not get put on the practice squad.

Sunday, 8/29 at 4pm on CBS at Paul Brown Stadium.
Joe Burrow plays his first snaps of the year how long do you think he plays?
Week 3 is supposed to be the dress rehearsal for the starters. Who do you think the starting Guards will be?
Who do you think needs to shine to prevent from getting cut?

So why does a guy with this much experience now coaching high school basketball at a parochial school no less?
I will say this, Jimmy Pangallo IS NewCath basketball just like John Wimzie is Holmes basketball. They have the intangible that many others do not, a desire and passion to see their alma mater be successful and most importantly the respect of the kids.
Maybe they look at what CovCath has done and say why not us? We can be competitive on the same level with the right moves. Which would also be beneficial to Coach Luhn down the road.
As for Jimmy Pangallo, my guess is he will continue in the same role he always has.

I'd have to think with the NewCath connections Brannen would have recommended him or at least asked his opinion of him as a coach as a reference.
