I thought it would be quick. No disrespect to Pulaski, but Cov Cath is really good.
-
Ins't Michael Spencer a senior? Josh Baker a junior?
Yes, Spencer is a senior. Young for his garde, as he started school early, but he is a senior.
-
He’s probably one of the best point guards around didn’t get to show his potential at his last school.
What school? Downton has always been at Beechwood.
-
Doubtful.
Corbin had a first half running clock at Pulaski this year, 47-7 at half. Corbin while a good team, isn’t Cov Cath. I would be shocked if this isn’t an early running clock.
-
The Cov Cath game will be a running clock early.
-
I don’t know much about Campbellsville other than they had a close game with Crittenden County, who struggled with Bethlehem, who KY Country Day beat 56-0. Beechwood had a running clock on KY Country Day early in the 2nd QTR. Campbellsville also lost to Casey County, who Corbin clocked 41-0 and Beechwood gave Corbin a really good game at Corbin. Hope it is a good game.

How is the field conditions @ Simon Kenton?
I would think perfect. Field turf and no rain or snow all day. Will be chilly but the field will be great I would imagine.
-
They are also losing kids to Beechwood and CovCarh.
SK does as well.
-
SK had 4 or 5 starters out agianst Beechwood. SK had 4 or 5 starters get hurt during the Highlands game and used a Freshman qb big difference.
SK was really only down 1 big contributor against Beechwood and besides the score, BW basically dominated. You still had Sargent and Farsing against BW, the main offensive guys, and were missing Cogswell on defense. But SK is also a 6a school so saying they were not healthy is a lame excuse. BW didn’t have their fullback and linebacker but it didn’t stop them from holding SK to 21 points or running up 500 yards.

I would talk to Taphouse at Ludlow. I think he is going to be a good one.

The Tiger's future is bright, no doubt. Their Freshman class has a ton of talent. The coaches do seem to work hard to get some freshman in as early as they can.
But, don't fool yourself, not every kid got into this game.
I believe they all did get in, at least it looked like it. On the last kickoff it was all freshman. Then I believe the last drive had at least 9 freshman in the game. They were rotating kids in an out every play. The Beechwood varsity was done by the end of the first half.

The biggest 5A power barely beat a team who got destroyed by a so called 2nd tier 6A team. 6A is still the standard, come on now!
Didn’t St. X lose to Desales this year? I think 6a is way down. SK lost to Beechwood as well.
-
This is the type of game that your regular season schedule prepares you for. SKs weak schedule and refusal to play 6A powers in the regular season bites them again. SC is battle tested and will roll in this one.
Only thing I will say to that, is there really 6a powers this year? 5a is better than 6 A this year.
-
Will SK get another home game next week? If so they have a shot.
-
I think this Anderson County team will give Highlands fits. I think they are similar to Simon Kenton but better. They are playing at home and the field won’t be great. Good luck to the Birds.

To add to this, the skill players this year are good, but not nearly as good as last year. Castleman has done great filling in for Davis, but there's no-one filling Castleman's spot on the edge. You also don't have a player, or players, to match Mescher's skill set from last year. On the defensive side, you don't have a shut down corner in McKinney.
Last year Burch really only threw to Mescher and Castleman. This year they are involving the tight end and all three receivers, and they are starting to include the full back who is pretty athletic. So you have 5 receiver options that are all a threat to score and do some damage, which makes it tough to defend. Plus Cam is a huge threat to run, which Beechwood did not have last year. On defense of course the secondary is not quite as strong but they are pretty good. Have picked off 14 passes so far and last year BW finished with 18. I think this team will only keepngetting better over the next few weeks.

I believe Beechwood will get the victory in this matchup. I seen KCD play earlier in the season and don’t believe they are near as good as they were last year. While I believe Beechwood has a few weaker spots this year as opposed to last year but their drop off isn’t as significant. It will be a 3rd quarter running clock imo...... but any given Friday night could be your last. GO TIGERS!!!!!
Where do you think Beechwood is weaker? I think they are solid up front on both sides of the ball. Only difference may be in the middle on defense with Derry out and maybe at DB but stat wise they are pretty close. I think they have more overall talent but seem to get bored at times.
-
They definitely had some SERIOUS beef on their line last season as well. It was impressive even just looking at them when Cov Cath faced Madison Southern in the finals.
I guess size doesn’t matter, they went 2-9 this year.
-
Last I saw was 25-18 Simon Kenton at the half. The Defenders have blocked two Simon Kenton extra points.
And have missed all 3 themselves.
-
Craziness. Ryle beat Cooper 26-7. Did Cooper get someone back from an injury or something? This seems to be a dramatic turn for a sub .500 team.
Ryle has really fallen off. Went 2-8 and lost to 5a 0-9 Dixie last week 42-14. Something just isn’t right at Ryle.
-
These two also played earlier this season and it wasn’t that lopsided then either. SK should win though by 3 or 4 scores. Weather isn’t really that bad, so I doubt that has anything to do with it.
-
I think Johnson Central will be tough for anyone in 4a to beat. Don’t know much about Franklin-Simpson, but them struggling with Meade County is a little surprising. Maybe just a bad game?
-
Jolly could do nothing. He was not able to catch a ball because of the inaccuracy of the QB.
Campbell County seems like they struggle to adjust as teams take away Jolly. Against Highlands, SK and Cov Cath, Jolly had a combined 7 catches for 94 yards and 0 TD’s. They were out scored in those games a combined 89-14. I thought they had more talent then this and would be able to develop multiple weapons.

Campbellsville beat Larue in a mud bowl... big, physical football team Larue County is... Voice, we are in the conversation...
Cambellsville is looking good. Hope to see them in Ft. Mitchell around thanksgiving.
1A State Championship: #1 Beechwood vs. #2 Pikeville

Beechwood will have to pound the ball. Pikeville is very stingy it appears against the pass. I think they only allowed like 600 yards passing through 14 games.
