  1. Great insight quickslick! It will be interesting to see how Castleman does handling the load on offense while playing a huge role in thier defensive secondary as well.

I would imagine he will get rest. Josh Derry will get a lot of carries.

  2. Who will be the TE this year? Heist was the TE last year.

Also, I can see Corts getting some carries if healthy to get Castleman out on the edge more. With Sherron and Odom, they don't have a lot of size outside.

I believe Luke Bolger will play TE. About 6”3 Ish 215. Played mainly DE last year. Will be a senior.

  3. No RB by committee, the job is Logan Castleman's. He may spend some time in the slot, but he and Derry will get the majority of the carries. Logan will definitely need a few breaks on offense because he's crucial to the defense as well, but make no mistake, he is going to have a very good year running the football for Beechwood.

Logan Castleman and Josh Derry should have big years. Entire offensive line will be seniors and will be a big line to create big holes. Defensive line will be all seniors as well. If they stay healthy Beechwood should have another big year.

  4. I'm sure his recruitment is not over. I would expect him to have P5 offers before it's all said and done.

Xavier was a 1 seed last year and plays in one of the best conferences in the country, and one of its members has won 2 of the last 3 national championships. Xavier is a huge offer for Dontaie. I think they would be a great opportunity for him.

  5. The Junior and senior class at Beechwood is very strong. Return most of the offense and defensive lines and a 4 year starter at safety. QB will be a question mark but running game will be very solid. Every starter on d-line will be at least 6’3 and +215. Adam Derry is 6’3” 270.

  6. Good to hear. It seems like people think he will play a different position this year. I look forward to checking him out.

He may play outside linebacker if they go another route at QB, but he is their best QB and athlete at that position right now. But they may want to groom someone else and have for a few years. I hope he gets the chance because he would be fun to watch. He seems like a risk taker and pretty confident kid.

  7. A few years ago there was a discussion that some parents wanted to just go ahead and get their 1st TJ surgery out of the way during HS (almost like elective surgery) so it didn't come at an inconvenient time. Crazy discussion and ridiculously misplaced priorities, but reflects the perceived high likelihood of it happening anyway and the perceived routine nature of the surgery and how most kids come back from it.

The same parents might want their kids to shoot up steroids... . What ever gets you an edge... yikes.

  8. Couldn't disagree more. Many if not all of the FBS offers for Kam and AJ were received by this point. Jack is a little earlier with his commitment with AJ committing in early April of his Junior year. The MAC level FBS schools will likely be wrapping up their 2019's over the next month or two with the big-time FBS schools mostly done and already working on their 2020's (e.g. Michael Mayer). It's my understanding that Jack was their #1 2019 TE and if that's the case they probably wanted his commitment or they were going to move on and begin putting out other 2019 TE offers. Most FBS programs do not bring in anymore than one TE in a class. If other offers go out, the other recruit commits and the school accepts the commitment then Jack's offer from Miami would likely be gone.

Offers have a limited shelf-life and can be gone in the blink of an eye. Jack made a great choice. This FBS scholarship for an out-of-state KY recruit is worth about $200K and is from an outstanding school that would look good on any resume. If you like the school, the program and the situation you'll be in when you get there, then you don't wait around for "more options". And by the way, I don't think this coming season could go any better than the last. A dominating 15-0 is hard to top.

I agree that Miami is a fine spot but The big time schools are not done with 2019, they just had a ton of guys commit in the last two months for 2018. I know a lot of kids won’t commit until the fall. But either way it’s a good spot for him and a great school.

  9. Saw it mentioned in this thread that SK made no defensive adjustments. That is totally false.....GC’s Coomer had 14 in the first half, but finished with 20. He didn’t get clean looks in the second half. The sooner SK fans/parents get off of their imagined high perch, the sooner the SK kids will buy in the way Coach Jones’s kids do. SK girls have won the 8th a few times since 2007, and yes, Coach Stowers does a good job. But, he has won the 8th when he has had the most talent. SK boys might have had the most talent in 2007, but they lost to a good Oldham County team in the finals. Other than that, SK has not had the most talent in the 8th.

Also, really tired of the LAZY NARRATIVE that GC is void of talent at all times. Coach Jones gets them to buy in.

SK has more talent than GC and I will leave it at that.

  10. I need ask how can you live in Grant County and play in Scott County it not right

You need to play where you live.

Maybe he has a parent that lives in Scott County. Maybe he has always gone to school down their. Maybe it’s just a much better opportunity for him. There are kids all over the state that don’t play or go to school where they live.
