I think Cooper and Scott County may take offense to this!

I'm not hoping for anything. I'm sure they will have a great run in 5 A ball but the rankings are based off a record of them playing 6 A teams. The appearance of them being a sleeper is there. I'm sure a lot of the teams ahead of them are going to be wondering where the heck they came from in the end.

Highlands not ranked in top 10 after playing one top 6 A team to a less than 10 point loss and beating another. They are better than the record shows. But they can be the sleeper cell in 5 A this year.

Depends on your point of view. If highlands wins won't they make history? Think about it!

The 5t heading is all that matters. They are all equal right now. There may be two or three other schools with a schedule like Highlands

Oh yeah I almost forgot! Good luck to SK, hopefully the birds can show them enough to make the game beneficial later in the season. Good luck Birds, play hard and execute and show the state you are still a top program.

Maybe this will help everyone out a bit. I'll use UK basketball as an example. The Cats have 8 national championships in their history, 8. No one would dare say that the tradition of excellence is over at UK because they haven't won a title in 3 years and only have 8 total. So why is HHS football program not given the same tip of the hat.

They are puttin on the jersey and going out there and playing. Just like they did last year and even though it was ugly at times they had a winning season and made the semi finals. Looking like a good possibility this year too. Not every successful HHS team went undefeated.

There's one in every family, two in mine. Everyone is sure their kid is going to be the next Hefty Lefty.

Days of dominance over, living in the past, I thought tradition was built upon not made or broke in two years. I was a firefighter for 20 years and my favorite saying from those days is "200 years of tradition unimpeded by progress". The tradition will continue but the face may change a little

I understand where you are coming from (hometown pride and all that) but all the squabbling between what amounts to second best teams at best by state standards is useless and a waste of time. The old time HHs supprters aren't just saying the birds beat up on Nky teams, they beat up on everyone for a long time. Arguing about who is the Better second place team is like saying you are the thinnest kid at fat camp.

So later HHS has finished with another winning season and a run to the state semis. Just about as far as any other program has got from Nky recently. The winning season run is a number that is impressive by any standards so how can anyone say the tradition is over? some people have a rather inflated idea of Nky football recently all together in my opinion. In 6 A, no one is beating Trinity from Nky. In 5 A no one is breating BG.

Ups and downs, ups and downs. The birds still made the semis last year and have the skill set to do the same if not more this year. I get it, they have two really bad losses. But they also have two great games against one state powerhouse and a great Nky team. The birds will be fine. They have played their best games at home so we will see how things go Friday. I'm not saying they will win (even though I am the only one so far to pick them) but I am pulling for another great home showing.
