  1. I think the point is many are saying people arming themselves is the answer to problems like this. If only everybody exercised their 2nd amendment right, we'd be much safer. In order for that to happen, you probably would have to double the number of guns in America.

While I don't think there is an answer to this problem, I wonder what would've happened yesterday if everyone there had a weapon?

  2. Just a reminder ISIS has threatened the world with shootings, bombings and sawing peoples heads off and they have made good on these threats and will continue to do so. They have also ordered their followers to do the same. Believe what you will about recent events, but the one thing I do know is that these are evil people!

  3. That's all I'm asking for. My sarcasm is because every time something like this comes up and anyone suggests there be reform, this board explodes in the NRA rhetoric and the overblown hyperbole of "they're trying to take my guns". Even in this thread, there's a lot of that rhetoric. I'm tired of trying to have a reasonable, sensible conversation on this board about this subject. Mention even one change, and the group goes ballistic (pun intended).

I agree that sometimes it is too easy for people to buy guns! We should be looking at these situations. But you can't try to run over gun owners like a bull in a china shop! This is an polarizing issue! Improvements will come slowly. People hold dearly to the ability to defend themselves, but the current administration is trying to shove it down their throats!

  4. But the question is, how do we attempt to curb this type of crime?
Picture this... the president comes to the podium following the next shooting spree and says like all US citizens I am sickened at these events, I don't claim to have all the answers but I will bring together a group of people representative of my constituency to discuss and bring forth ideas on how to deal with this growing problem! Hell invite a representative from the NRA, if they are not interested in participating then you know where they stand, but to respond the way he has is not helping anyone, throwing gasoline on a fire usually doesn't help!
  5. I applaud the president for caring, but really, given the power the NRA has over the GOP delegation in Congress, nothing is going to change. We all just need to brace ourselves for one of these rampages every seven days or so.
So what you are saying is that the NRA or the GOP delegation in congress has a solution to these mass killings, I hate to disappoint you but they don't.
  6. Whenever we have one of these mass shootings, the conversation usually turns -- as it did here -- to the Ft. Thomas crowd worrying about "the government" coming after their guns and ammo.

We now have about 360 million firearms in the US of A. More guns than people. Thanks Obama. (Sarcasm)

Lack of gun regulation is a two-sided coin. Get used to these mass shootings.

This is in part because each time these shootings happen the first thing that the president does is go to the podium and call for stricter gun laws, yet gives no logic behind his rhetoric! As far as getting used to theses shootings, Obama says not to accept them as normal, sounds like you and I disagree with him on that.

  7. The University has made a major commitment to move the football program to the next level, we need a coach capable of leading that transition, it concerns me that there were too many times that the players and coaches were totally confused as to what was going on, these are mental mistakes and are unacceptable! At some point there was also a divide in the locker room, we can talk about poor O lines, pass drops, who the quarterback should be, but at this point I have to question Stoops leadership abilities! Having said that I believe Stoops should be given at least one more year!

  8. I don't have a dog in the Barker vs Towles fight, couldn't care less which one played this season, like many others I'm just a hopeful UK football fan who once again will go through another offseason with very little to look forward to next season! The way Stoops handled this situation certainly indicated that he felt Towles gave him the best chance to win, but was forced to play Barker due to the offensive ineffectiveness. Too bad it didn't go well for either kid! Good luck Patrick!

  9. Arizona transfer Craig Victor will be a big boost on the interior at the semester break. Was a top 40 kid and #1 player in Louisiana out of high school. Keith Hornsby gives them a shooter with range (pun intended) to stretch the floor. Should be back in a couple weeks from injury...

These additions will really solidify LSU, Hornsby averaged 13.5 per game last year, including 17 in a tough loss to UK, and should compliment Simmons well, Bruce turned out some good athletes, as he had another son who ran track at the University of Oregon.
