Gotcha, probably gonna offend some one but IMO the major factors on CE were there. CE has more talent and a high energy coach, should go far in end of season tourney. Good luck

They had one player that was not there that started when they played the night before in the school league (Zac Jennings) but your right other than that they did have the rest of there starters there. I'm not trying to take anything away from ockerman they played hard and wanted it more.

8th Ockerman beat CE in there first game, was a great game. Then beat Beechwood in there 2nd game, all players were present to my knowledge for all squads on those days. Since a rough start at 0-2 after Highlands and Beechwood losses, Ockerman has put together a nice run despite a coach that is just there? wins against SV, Conner, CE, and Beechwood with a one point loss to CE in there. Keep grinding Hawks, just wanted to give a shout out.

CE was missing two players when ockerman beat them in the Christmas tournament. It was a great game though

One of the bigs was missing and a point guard was missing.

Yes the other big for CE rolled his ankle he will miss a couple weeks in a boot not a break just a bad sprain

Woww! Had not heard either of these. Yes, both would be upsets. We don't have to be politically correct, haha! We know how good BW and CE are, and those other two teams are also good and play hard!

 

That said, it's the holidays... Teams could be missing players, etc.

CE is missing a couple but no excuses it was a close game to the end. Conner wanted it more. Then they lost there big in the fourth when they were up or down 1 with a rolled ankle. To be honest it was a very boring sloppy game. Congrats to Conner it was a big win for there team.

How did the 7th & 8th grade games look?

All I no about the 7th grade game is CE was down by double digits in the second half and they came storming back and won by I think 3

8th grade game CE was up between 8 and 12 pretty much all game and ockerman made a late run CE struggled bad from the foul line and one of ockerman guards hit a three at the buzzer but CE won by 1

HMS swept Holmes

6th-7th-8th

CE swept ockerman at ockerman

SVA 8th is 6-3 in the regular season. Have a few other wins/losses in tournament play and preseason action.

 

This is why i love basketball...

 

SVA beats Pius.

Pius beats CE.

CE beats SVA.

 

Add in Highlands...

 

They beat SVA and Pius.

Lose to CE.

 

Those 4 teams are the cream of the crop at this point and should and will only get better. If that is the final 4... LOOKOUT! All well coached with talented players.

I agree the four teams u mentioned r pretty good and hopefully that will be the final four in the big school division. Beechwood is a great team with two great coaches. Truthfully we all no I'm for CE but I'm really impressed with their coaching and St. Pius coaching. CE and St. Pius only have 1 AAU player on each team and their in the talk of being in the upper teir or cream of the crop. Beechwood and highlands have 5 players total that was on the D2 national championship team Ahlfeld wasn't part of that team but he's a pretty darn good AAU player himself and summit view has several AAU players also , I'm not slamming anyone in this post I'm just saying that's pretty impressive how these what those two coaches get out of there kids to compete against such great talent

How (or where) are standings or league records posted?

 

In 7th, for the league, I believe that Highlands is 8 - 0, IHM is 6 - 1, Conner is 6 - 1.

Sorry I can't answer for all 8th grade but CE is 8-1

I'm not as familiar with CE lineup. . . I figured those were some of the key players he was getting on (while benched). Somewhat humorous when his voice shrilled. They are a nice team & sounds like they were going through tough schedule stretch. I'm sure they'll be right there in the end.

Oh he gets on the boys. My hats off to these coaches, 14 year old boys r a little bull headed at times.

Who did all of the scoring for St. Pius?

Mayer had a solid game I think he had around 10 points but he touches the ball every possession and makes great decisions. Great player

I would assume Mayer led the way, but the guards made some 3's. Lyons and Powers also had nice games.

 

Camp Ernst made nice comeback in 3rd qtr, but Pius then went on a 3 minute run that probably was some of their best basketball this year to put the game away. Mayer sat the whole 4th qtr.

7th - Pius (#0, PG for Pius had to have 12 assists, a few very incredible)

6th - Camp Ernst

CE coach pulled the starters at about mid way through the the third and they returned for about a min in the fourth. I'm guessing he didn't like there energy and he was making a statement I don't blame him one bit it should definitely help them in the future

No. They have grant Cty Wednesday and ockerman thurs and then ockerman again sat in the turkeyfoot Christmas tournament

To be honest CE came out real flat. St. Pius wanted it more. They took the lead early CE made a couple little runs just couldn't get over the hump.

Funny, I know 5 (at least ) that are better and off the grid. It will all come out in 2 years. They play an all around game and make others better not just themselves. Again funny to read about some names. The others will win because they understand the game(team). And, and they will be appreciated and looked at by colleges not just this silly high school stuff. Must have been a good game - although from the posts, sounds like two different games were played. Anyone have video of any of the "grabs" that were mentioned.

 

I like the dads bragging on their own kids in these threads.And, NKY must have the best young men in the State. Lots of threads saying what "great" kids all these players are. Are these the same kids that complain to officials, gesture like their arm was cut off when they think they get fouled, complain when they block a shot but are called for a foul and talk smack the whole game to the other team?

Sorry your right u just implied that it was by saying the no calls for Ahlfeld and calls going for CE. My point is there was no calls all night that went both ways. And the big play of the game is when CE big man followed his own shot and tipped it in and got fouled went to the line and sunk the foul shot to take the lead

As an aside, I thought Kanarack retired from officiating. Didn't appear as so last night.

 

And here we go the refs were terrible I agree hell salter fouled out twice but for what ever reason they let him play. And as far as intensional fouls go centers was grabbed around the waist twice in the final 11 seconds and there was no intensional foul. So please don't take a great game and blame officiating yes it was terrible both ways

So CEMS won?

Yes by 2 they were down 3 with about 50 seconds left and centers hit a three to tie it up then they had a defensive stop and There big man Conner had and one and that was pretty much it

Who won? Did Huddleston play?

Huddleston did not play,salter did play. Highlands is a tough team. Ahlfeld is really stepping his game up and what a great young man.

What game in the highlands v/s Camp Ernest 8 th grade game

St. Lawrence from Indiana has the greatest basketball program of all time. None of the Kentucky schools will play them because they are too good. All of your arguments are invalid.

I don't think anyone here really cares about Indiana basketball!

Huddleston and Jack D were out, Salter came back but was limited in offense as his hand was wrapped pretty good and Nate G was knocked out of the game(knee).

 

Ahlfeld played well again tonight. They have CE and Summit View coming up and will probably get crushed in both games. HMS has to get healthy. They aren't going to beat any of these good teams right now. You can't play good teams without support. Birds will be fine for after X-mas and when the tourney starts.

Glad to see Ahlfeld having a great season he's a great kid. Hopefully highlands is back to 100% soon.
