SK senior reached the milestone while making 7 3’s on the night.
-
SK played two games, not one. They beat Boone Co Tuesday 1/28 80-58

I've heard the issues at Dixie were do to Dixie and it went legal. Which is also how they got eligibility. Amazing last year Lloyd had a great team. I think they still do but wonder what is going on there.
I’m not trying to speculate because I don’t know the answers. Just playing devils advocate.
-
Sure sounds like there is a lot of "teaching lessons" and not so much enjoying the game going on at Lloyd. For the sake of the kids let's hope the worm turns soon.
Not close enough to know but wonder if there is any issue with the coach and teaching lessons.
Cody was kicked off at Dixie so him and Szabo went to Lloyd. Did the issues at Dixie follow them there if they didn’t learn any lessons?

I would say Simon Kenton has no chance.
To say no they won’t win it I understand but to say no chance is a ridiculous statement.
3 teams are the clear favorites for good reason, it would be an uphill battle for sure but they do have the pieces and playmakers to make a run if the outside shots are falling.

My point was you were at the game, provided game updates and all you had to say was Niece looked more in command of the game and confident on his leg. He scored 39 points while being guarded by possibly the best defender in Ky whom eventually fouls out guarding him (not sure how many fouls were while guarding Niece). He missed maybe 2-3 shots all night from the field why playing the point and running the offense. He also had 6 rebounds. I would at least thought you would have at some point during the game or after the game said Niece had a good game! Only one game and not taking anything away from Collins nor their players. They have amazing talent and are an amazing team that represents the 8th region well throughout the state. I just thought if you were going to comment on this one game, you would have mentioned he played a pretty good game!
He did say in the update thread that KN was the best player on the floor

I can see any of 6 teams winning it if they get hot.
Beechwood and NCC get walk through games to the semis. St Henry, Holy Cross, Lloyd, and Newport all with tough games to start.
I’m going with a dark horse in Holy Cross.

Close game. Any stats?

FINAL:
Fern Creek 66
Simon Kenton 52
Thanks for the udpates

crickets....
Personally the 8th is looking strong. Other than Collins at 1 there is a lot that could be interchanged but the way it’s listed above is solid. Their upcoming play will have to create any separation for themselves.
-
He's back earlier than most anticipated. I have a feeling those numbers will progressively go up. The 8th is loaded but they have a solid trio and should have a nice group of ancillary role players.
I'm not sure if Miller played tonight, I had to attend a work Christmas party. I can't complain since I came back with a $200 Visa gift card. A double win for this fan tonight.
Miller did not play. Looks like Niece might be on a pitch count while getting his body back in shape. Smith and Hensley fouled out, Schwartz sat a lot with 4 fouls.

Gallatin has a couple of newbies who should provide big contributions. The big question - in regards to the games you mention - is whether they are ready yet. May take a bit to jell with the returnees before they really take off.

SK with an early Top 20 opponent with Beechwood Friday.

I love this time of year. Scrimmage winners: “we’re almost where we want to be.” Scrimmage losers: “we’re seeing what combinations work and getting the younger guys some experience.”
And some are just excited for basketball season to be starting up.
-
Random scrimmage scores from around the 8th region. Hard to tell a lot because coaches are trying different lineups.
Eastern by several over Spencer
Woodford by 3 over Seneca
Carroll by 7 over Shawnee
Great Crossing by several over Carroll
Henry by 7 over Woodford
Anderson by 8 over East Jessamine
SK by 30 over Cincinnati Country Day

Did Niece play for SK??
He didn’t play yesterday

Regional Contenders:
Collins
South Oldham
Spencer County
North Oldham
Oldham
I believe it will be in that order. Collins gets the nod over South Oldham because of their backcourt, athleticism, and ability to play defense. Any of those five can beat each other on a given night.
Simon Kenton doesn’t lose any significant starters, last year beat South Oldham and North Oldham, lost to Oldham Co in OT. I’m surprised they aren’t talked about more on here.

Oh my gosh.
I was just re-reading my own write-up and realized why one should never write these things at 3 in the morning.
In the SK write-up, and I said - "...but they should write this year off." That wasn't what that was supposed to say. It was supposed to read "...but they shouldn't write this year off."
Hopefully, anyone reading the post will realize what was meant, based on the write-up immediately following that.
My apologies to the Pioneers and their fans. SK definitely has a shot at this tournament.

I did want to ask if you are an Avengers fan, because Jeremy Davis plays for SK, not Jeremy Renner

He’s taking a jab at Steiner saying Hester being his student and learning from him, neither will win a region then.
