  1. I can give you my thoughts, which is a 30 minute speal about this and that, summary, Athletic talent at Summit View is down as a whole yes. Due to other teams, maybe some. It just is what it is.

The incoming 8th graders have some athletes that Bill McLeid has done a good job of finding and getting them to play football his upcoming season. Most did not play last year. I am not going to come out and say they run the table or anything but should look like a different team than last year.

  2. Tichenor did not field a separate 7th grade team last year. As far as the moves, the league actually forced them to move up last year to replace Holmes not having a team. They weren't happy about the move, even though they won the league. From what I understand they pretty much demanded to be moved back down for this season, and wouldn't expect them to ever play in the large school division again.

That makes complete sense then, thank you for clarifying.

  3. So they are going to let 2 basketball courts and a football field waste away?

I was saying I did not know that was even a thought. I would think it would be something the school would have to announce soon, and that options of playing elsewhere would have to be provided. I don't think Kenton Co schools can offer sports and other activities to all of their school except for one.

  4. Letters went home on May 26th or so I have been told. I did not find out about it till Saturday at SK Graduation.

I knew about the Academy but not about at this time it is unclear as to whether or not Summit View Academy will have extra circular activities or not for 2015-2016.

As far as I know they are and was contacted twice yesterday about the upcoming football season.

  5. This is kinda a topic for another thread but short version:

On May 26th Kenton Co Board of Ed chose to combine Summit View Elementary and Summit View Middle school into an "Academy" style school using the "STEAM" Program for grades Pre K - 8. There are alot of details not worked out, but at this time it is unclear as to whether or not Summit View Academy will have extra circular activities or not for 2015-2016.

Interest because I was not aware. My son goes to Summit View, did not play last year but has decided to play this year which is why I was curious. I did get emails from coach and team mom yesterday about the upcoming season.

  6. URaiders are more of an independent team but are sanctioned through the Ky middle school state association. We play teams like Turpin, Glen Este, Highlands, Lex Cath, Corbin, Pulaski County, Southeast Indiana, etc. We would love to play more of the NKy Middle School Teams in the near future.

Are there any Boone Co teams in it except Walton? I know Cooper was playing as part of NKYFL for some ages.

  7. NCC and Woodland should both be very good this year and once again Tichenor will field a formidable squad. I am not really up on the Boone County middle schools, but I heard Walton is gonna be fun to watch.

Who does Woodland have? Their Taylor Mill Eagles team that are now 8th graders were not very good.

  8. In that game, coaching was the difference. I think that it was Highlands' coach's 2nd or 3rd game as a head coach. Maile, obviously, will forget more basketball that I've ever known in the time that it takes me to type this post. Mayer was put in good positions. He also has some great post moves for his age. He had a spin out of the high post that was very, very impressive. I felt like Huddy did pretty well. I think that it was 12-4 in terms of scoring with Huddy getting a couple of cheap reach in fouls after rebounds that made him have to play less agressively. Huddy and Mayer match up really well against each other in terms of size and strength. Huddy seems to be a little better athlete and Mayer is more skilled. To say that Mayer is unguardable is what I was getting at. He's a stud, but he isn't the only one around.

All 3 big men are excellent players.

I did not see them against each other but a big difference in watching them play is that Highlands has 2 true inside players and Mayer is playing it alone at St Pius. Mayer is a complete player inside and stays in control of himself offensive and defensively, while I think you can get both of Highland's big men in foul trouble but they also use each other well inside with passing. The reason I agree that Mayer is the best big in the area is because he doesn't have the same kind of help.
