  1. Wasn't or Isn't Wyatt the one with the AAU Connections???? I've actually seen countless videos and pictures of girls from all ages and from many different schools in Notre Dame's Gym with Wyatt in the last couple of months. I know for a fact he is not the AAU coach of all of those girls... Also, I'm curious as to why Wyatt's leaving NDA is such a big secret when we put this type of stuff on here.. If we are going to tell it, we should tell it all.. Honestly, the HATE over HC winning the First EVER State title in Northern KY is unbelievable.. Why isn't anyone happy for these girls? If anyone that is not in Northern Kentucky believes half of these lies, they need their head examined... This comes down to one thing and one thing only..... HC won the State Title when they were not even ranked in the coaches poll (as usual)... Some people just can't get over that so they want to make the entire state of KY think all these horrible things about HC.... It's Ridiculous.. Like I said, I want to speak on why Wyatt left NDA and if the principal's of all the girls in the gym with him the couple of months knew and approved these activities... It's very ironic that the HC thing comes back up when Three (3) of the coaches leading the pack are no longer with the schools they were representing.. I think the original poster is definitely on to something with this thread, but I'm sure we will never get the real truth on that...

  2. Game Details, per the Enquirer...,

Holy Cross came into Monday’s Ninth Region girls basketball quarterfinal hoping that its match against Highlands would be the first of seven straight games at BB&T Arena this month as the Indians set forth to defend their 2015 KHSAA state championship.

That run ended early for the Indians after the Bluebirds rallied from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat the Indians 52-44, ending their repeat hopes and extending their own dreams of a first-ever state title. Highlands (22-10) avenged a loss in last year’s semifinals and advances to Saturday’s semifinals against Ryle (23-6), with both teams looking to play in the Sweet 16 March 9-13, also at NKU. Holy Cross ends 16-12.

“Holy Cross is a great team,” said Highlands head coach Jaime Richey. “They’re defending state champs. (Dajah) McClendon is a great player. That was motivation from last year that they ended our season.”

McKenzie Leigh scored all of her nine points in the fourth quarter, in which Highlands outscored Holy Cross 19-6. She made both ends of a one-and-one bonus with 2:25 to play to give Highlands a 44-43 lead, which was the fourth lead change of the game in a three-minute stretch.

On the other end, Leigh defended a drive to the lane by McClendon, who scored 12 points in her final game – all but one coming in the first half. McClendon missed a shot and Leigh rebounded. Eventually, freshman guard Zoie Barth went to the line and made one free throw with 1:34 to play, and it was 45-43.

On the Indians’ next possession, Barth stole a centering pass at midcourt and raced to the frontcourt, where she was fouled before a shot attempt. Barth, who had a game-high 14 points, made both ends of the one-and-one to make it a four-point lead at 47-43.

“Leigh struggled through the first three quarters and we told her it’s your time to shine,” Richey said. “She stepped up to the plate and made her free throws. I can’t say enough about Zoie. She came in as a freshman and made some nice steals and got to the line. Zoie had nine points, all in the second half.”

Holy Cross led by six in the second half, 37-31. Highlands took a 39-38 lead early in the fourth before HC freshman Olivia Crigler answered with a trey to give HC a 41-39 lead. Leigh came right back with a conventional three-point play and it was 42-41, Highlands. Then Holy Cross guard Zyah Beal hit a midrange jumper, and it was 43-42, Indians.

Holy Cross led by as many as eight in the first quarter as the Indians got three baskets from Chames, its imposing freshman center. Meanwhile, the Indians controlled the boards, mostly with their smaller guards outhustling the Bluebirds to 50-50 balls.

While Holy Cross’ reign as state champs is over, Highlands will continue on and try to achieve its second state final appearance in school history. The first was in 1994 when Richey was a sophomore. Highlands is in the regional semifinals for the fourth straight season. Highlands lost in the final in 2013 and in the semis the previous two years.

  3. Why won't people just let the KHSAA investigation play out regarding Holy Cross and leave it at that. Their season is over. They are all good people. Let it be. The rules they broke aren't serious enough to warrant anything more than a warning and a fine.

RCC9 seems to have pretty solid information. There are texts, social media posts, and pictures which all suggest aggressive recruiting of players. Other programs do it too. So let the investigation play out and congratulate the girls on a fine season. Good job Highlands.

Good question.....Why won't YOU?? Why do YOU constantly come on here saying let the investigation continue, then sneak in a few extra comments based on hearsay?!??!! You know NOTHING!! Only what you heard someone else on here say......You ONLY come to this thread to TRY to slide in some extra juicy gossip from your last "investigation" comment...... And LOL at how goofy you sound...Really??? with pictures huh??! Hahahahahaha!!

  4. I see 4-5 posts talking about Beal and how well she played. I also see posts about Baugh and Chames (not the stars either). So I'm not sure where you're going with this. If we were talking about all the stars, I think McClendon would be involved and no one has said a word about her. Are you just really referring to Martin getting some discussion?

Not at all, Beal was assigned to Martin for a reason. I'm referring to a statement that beal stepped up when others struggled.. And how it was more coaches rotation. Those comments were made after egs300 made a comment giving Beal credit for her performance. ... So I left the credit where I felt it was due with the original poster..

  5. I'm also going to give credit where credit is due...Beal guarded Maritin and she was scoreless...Yes, It was in fact an entire team effort with some rotations and yes they all battled each play on both ends... But shutting Martin down completely in 1st, was Beal....Point blank... as a team, they held her to 11!!. I know, I know, it pains some people to give credit to any other kid than the usual names They always throw out during/after every game or here on BGP...But like egs300 said, NDA truly did not have an answer for Z. Beal last night....Last night, wasn't a matter of taking charge when "the others struggled to score".. It was just her playing her game...She played very strong and pushed through where some couldn't, but call it what you will. I'm happy for her and it should be recognized. But again, last night was truly a team effort, that lead to the win! Awesome play by both teams!

  6.

What I am also pointing out is that in the 5 or 6 times I have seen HC, their players whine alot. Take off your red glasses and watch your players. You know I am right. Hope you guys are eligible for the District so Holmes beats you again. it won't be that close next time.

So you're BIG MAD? Hahaha!! Look at you!! All your hate spewing out!! Great game played by HC with a lot of fight!!! Congrats to Holmes on the win.. I mean I did attend Holmes myself so They're my second favorite team in region.

  7. I am talking about "winning" time...I am not givng you a play by play for the entire game. At winning time, she had a chance to tie the score. She missed 2 FTs. She shoots 55% from the line, so missing 2 wasn't a surprise. I am not commenting on anything except the fact that when HC was down 3 in OT, Beal shot an airball on a 3. When Holmes rebounded it, the ball game was basically over.

And they, as a team whine alot to officials. But in this generation, kids know alot more than the officials. I suggest that they just close their mouth and play. Stop complaining on every call.

And, I didn't call out any specific whiny HC player. But, if you are a fan, or have watched them play, you know who I am most likely talking about.

First of all, SO WHAT!! And I know you can't give a play by play cause that would require YOU TO acknowledge those same players for their fight in the comeback...And AGAIN, HC had possession after those shots..You clearly were not watching the game just trying to find something negative to say about the players at HC...are you BIG MAD or little mad that your team has to face Homes in the opening round of districts!!!??Right..Btw, these are kids you're bashing!!! What's wrong with you!?? Coming on here with nothing but negative to say about some high school girls?? That says a lot about your character.... In the meantime, Show me ONE player that doesn't make a mistake......and I'll show you a player that's not getting better!!

  8. in last night's game, McClendin missed 2 big FTs in 2OT that would have tied the game. But, she goes 0 - 2, Holmes is fouled, and makes it a 3pt game with 1 min left. Beal launches an airball, Holmes scores again, and the game was basically over.

I will say that HC players whine more on the court to officials than other teams I have watched. They complain on every foul they commit. How about closing their mouths, and just play. Stop talking to officials and play. I am not sure why officials allow the players to whine and demonstratively display frustration with calls.

LOL... YEP. That's the whole game in a nutshell with 2Ot..lol....Two players missing shots with a minute left and some players whining..hahaha!!! I don't speak your language so I'm missing your point.. I didnt see either of those two players EVER speaking to court officials... And if memory serves me correct, didn't HC have possession after the above-mentioned missed buckets?!?? What happened?? How did Holmes get the ball back to get those two FT?? Certainly missed shots did not send them to foul line. Lolol.

Tell me this, what other team in the district/region went into OT with Holmes this year??!..Say what you will. Sounds like someone was playing the game to come back from -19 to double OT.. Sorry all you saw was 2 missed FT and an airball.....Lol at you!!...

  9. IMO there are only 2 reasons that I would transfer schools with my kid.

    1. The entire experience in the school...from athletics to academic to social life are not good for my kid. For the most part, where you play high school basketball has little effect on where you go to college. If you are good enough to play college basketball, get on the summer AAU circuit.

    2. The basketball team at my childs current school is so bad that they simply will not have any chance to compete. Think like single digit wins against bad competition.

I could not agree with anything I've ever read on BGP more!!!

  10. I agree with Spartan. AAU is where it's at... I'd actually prefer that my kid was happy and just playing the game she loved with no limits/restrictions... So I'd take any school that just let her play her game because AAU is actually more important if they want the next level these days!!!

Also, I could see PT being an issue if the talent is that deep!! Something else to consider.....I've also seen so many of the young girls peak... They may be years above some in 6th-8th grade but they peak once they hit 15-16 years old....Or they were already 15 in 7th-8th grade so they were just playing their age and others caught up or just just passed them up.... I wouldn't do it... I'd take my kids happiness and love for the game over all else!

  11. I have an interesting question and I do not know the answer but thought someone on here might.

If a lot of this is proven or not there is obviously text message that are documented and players from HC want to play college ball does this hurt their chances? I am just asking and I know some on here are going to take offense to but I would think they would want to know how it all works.

Isn't that the goal here???!! Stop the players of HC from potentially playing ball period... Rather it be college or even AAU for that matter?? I mean top plaintiffs are holding tryouts right?!
