  1. I'm sorry but the refs did not cost Caldwell the game last night! Yes there was some questionable calls last night but there is in every game I've watched. If you are very honest with yourself then you knew there was time left when our QB spiked the ball. You cannot go by what the clock keeper did by running the clock down to zero.

So we all know the head ref got that correct. I would like to hear what calls/penalties were beneficial to Mayfield and against Caldwell.

  2. No dog in this race, wasn't at the game, care not who won but white hat in this game is a Mayfield City cop; graduated and played football at Mayfield. Had Mayfield lost he could have lost friends. Now that they won, it may not sit well with Caldwell. Why would you put yourself in this position? Whoever assigned him to this game surely knows he is a mayfield guy? My 2 worthless cents.
He wasn't the only one with a little yellow hanky in his back pocket. There were several thrown by the others.
  3. Ball is spiked and I turned my head to the clock and it is still running. Of course you would expect that from the home press box... Let it run out and see if the ref calls him out on it. And he did!. Didn't matter if it is .1' date=' 1, or 2. There was no doubt there was time left in that game.[/quote']You are correct. There was 2.8 secs left then after the spike 2.0. And of course the home field clock keeper ran the clock out. The head referee keeps up with the time and he got it right. I absolutely for the life of me cannot stand sore losers. Yes there were questionable calls on both sides jus like when Caldwell had it 4th and 10 and the game was on the line and had to convert and there was a defensive pass interference call on Mayfield. So Caldwell eventually gets into FG range and nails it with under a minute to go for what some thought was the game winner. If that would have been the winner I WOULD NOT HAVE BLAMED the ref bc I thought he got the pass interference call wrong. Maybe the Caldwell defense should not have allowed Mayfield to go roughly 70 something yards with 30 something secs left. Maybe jus maybe that's what cost them the game. Not the referees.
  4. My view for the game last night...murray dominated mayfield in every aspect of the first half..the hornbuckle kid is as good as advertised..now, something I have wondered all season is why mayfield will only use one rb in the backfield(usually positioned to the left of the qb??..would seem to me that they can be most effective with a double back set..rotating carries between Tyler, bright, & whoever else..just do not feel the offense is being utilized to its capacity..sense Steven hatchell left mayfield, I personally feel the offense has been under-acheiving..jmo tho..
When Bright gets back I would love to see us run the double back formation. If I was a betting man I would say it's not gonna happen. Why? I don't have the answer to that but one would believe it would be more effective especially when the opposing defense is keying on Bright.
  5. Murray is a good ball club! Hornbuckle "Duke Commit" is one of the best DE I have seen in a long time! The kid was all over the field and gave us fits all night. Defense played pretty good tonight as usual. Offense on the other hand struggled in the first half but came out in the second half and played better after a few adjustments. Murray did turn the ball over I think 5 times but the majority of them was the hard hitting from our defense. Would not be surprised to see Murray again!

  6. This is gonna be a big game. Having Bright out definitely hurts but Tyler has stepped up and has done a great job filling his shoes. If our passing game is on point Friday night then I think we will succeed and get the W! Defense has been pretty darn good so far and I think they will continue to play lights out. As always if we can keep the penalties to a minimum and not fumble several times The Cards will send Murray packing! I jus hope our offense doesn't come out flat early on like they have done the past two games.

  7. Only thing I would add is that DeSales was without a starting running back and, more importantly, Austin Johnson hurt his leg (hamstring?) on the first series and limped noticeably for three quarters before being taken out. Without him in the running game, we went nowhere. Fern Creek will most definitely make some noise in 5-A. Nice call Ram. I disagree entirely with Colt Football on the no motivation or effort. We were just beaten by a really good football team tonight. Same thing happened last year when CAL blanked us 17-0. No sweat. We'll be back.
I could be wrong but I thought I read in another thread from one of y'alls posters how deep y'all were. Did one or two players being injured make that big of a difference?
  8. I have said before that I don't know anything about Mayfield football, but here is someone who does. This has nothing at all to do with this season, but we have played Murray two years in a row. We traveled four hours to get there in 2013, and heard a lot of this same type of conversation. I actually bought into it until the game started. Murray's coach said the following in the local newspaper in 2013 after we traveled there and thrashed them 38-0. This is the only time I have seen Desales and Mayfield compared by a coach whose team played both in the same season. “Even though the Tigers faced a gauntlet of talented western Kentucky teams in the likes of Mayfield, Graves County, Madisonville-North Hopkins and district foe Caldwell County – twice – Duncan said there’s no doubt who the best team Murray High faced all year was following Friday night’s loss. ‘There’s no question that’s the best team we played. Even the games we lost, we were in them in the third and fourth quarter. That was a great football team we lost to.'" (Murray Ledger & Times, 11/30/13) Just sayin'......
Since you don't know anything about Mayfield Football here is a look at our resume. 11 time State Champions 5 in (2A) and 6 in (1A)! 9 Runner Ups 5 in (2A) and 4 in (1A)! Right now we stand at #5 IN THE NATION at all time wins and we are closing in on #4 and may very well be there by the end of the season if not sooner! Hope to see yall there in Nov. Looking forward to this matchup if both teams make it!
  9. Why do you say McCracken has the horses? What makes you even think that?

They lost by 14 to the team you bombed just last week.

Their two wins are to two 0-3 squads. McCracken is not that good. Regardless of size, they just aren't that good. This one should not even be close.

I'm talking about their skilled positions. They all are play makers and can make things happen. I think we win but it will be tough to hold them scoreless.
  10. This is our home opener after being on the road the first 3 weeks. Beating Mayfield at home is a tough task. If memory serves me correctly we have not been beaten at home since the 07 08 season. Maybe someone could back that up for me. McCracken has the horses to give us our first loss at home in a long time but I think we prevail and come out with the W! I predict 42-14 Redbirds!
