  1. I missed this one, but... 90 percent of Americans want expanded background checks on guns. Why isn?t this a political slam dunk? Over 90 percent of Americans support gun background checks: poll | Reuters Washington Has 'Cold Feet' on Gun Control, Says Obama Adviser That took all of one minute - you clearly see Obama say in all three articles that 90 percent of Americans support gun control.
  2. Maybe back then, but I would expect his views would have evolved over time.
  3. I'm sure the topic has been debated to death and it will continue to be debated to death but I am new here and eager to discuss it. And as for raising the kids as winners, at least 0-10 teams can say they made the playoffs and had a chance to win. Regardless of how much better their opponent is, they still have a chance to pull a massive upset in the first round regardless!
  4. Greetings, I think one of the problems going on right now is our lack of awareness of groups that promote hate in our society. It is a tough time as it is, and we all need to learn to love and tolerate one another. I am going to include a link at the bottom showing the updated list of hate groups for 2014. The Southern Poverty Law Center is all about fighting hate, teaching tolerance, and seeking justice. I believe that if we follow this set of rules that our society will thrive because we will be working together. Out of the nearly 1,000 groups on this hate map, about 3/4 of them are in the south alone - this is unacceptable. The south has always had a reputation for lacking education and being intolerant, and this is an area where we really need to get on the right side of history. It's embarrassing that we have all this hate here in our areas as evidenced by the overwhelming number of hate groups. Tolerance is defined as "the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with." I once struggled with tolerance as a Republican years ago. It was when I went to college and learned from the best of the best that have master's and doctorate degrees that I woke up. I owe my professors so much. Republicans can't keep demonstrating intolerance and bigotry toward others if they plan on winning future elections. They have the 2014 elections which I expect them to lose more seats, and they can only hope that Hillary decides not to run in 2016 if they want any shot at the White House, although Elizabeth Warren may have that secured if Hillary decides not to run. I want to see the Republicans be a successful party, but the truth is that they will have to change their ways if they want to keep up with America. Bigotry is unacceptable in these times, and it's an embarrassment to see so many Republican politicians support some of the groups listed in this article. A couple of groups to keep in mind for 2014: 1. The Salvation Army 2. Chick Fil-A They are not on this list, but they exist on a local level throughout Kentucky and surrounding states and if they're not shut down, they need to learn to be tolerant of others. I just can't believe that we have so many organizations that fund and promote bigotry. Are people not seeing this stuff? This is just unreal and it is a sad reflection on the south. Join me in boycotting the bigotry! But, knowing how the south is, it will once against be on the wrong side of history. http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/hate-map
  5. The Democrats have been more than wililng to correspond and work together sir/ma'am. Actually, I think the Democrats, especially Obama, are too nice and open at times. It's the ability to have an open mind and be able to tolerate those around us that leads to the thriving of a society. Because of the Republicans, we are far from that.
  6. I'm not shaming your opinion sir/ma'am. I believe that Republicans just look at things through their red glasses and need to look at things with an open mind to see the bigger picture. The people spoke in November of 2012, and the people said that the Republicans were the problem in our country. Prove to me that prices will increase drastically if minimum wage increases. Prices of coffee may go up a quarter, maybe 50 cents, but the amount made through the minimum wage increase will be more than enough to offset the price increases. Thank you, BirdBrain, for the response. I wish some of these other conservatives would use your logic instead of calling me a plant and other offensive names.
  7. No freedom of speech should be regulated unless it is racist, bigoted, etc.
  8. I thought this was the place where tough and controversial topics could be discussed? Excuse me if I am wrong. I just made this thread to see what everybody's opinion was, mine personally is that every team should be able to make it. I feel that is what is best for the kids. Raising them as winners creates a winning atmosphere for them in life. Just because they may lose in the first round (likely big sometimes) doesn't mean that they shouldn't get to make the playoffs. The kids will still play and find meaning to the regular season. Everybody wants a district championship.
  9. Call it a dog and pony show. I don't care what anybody thinks. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.
  10. I don't think it would take enough terms for the worst president in U.S. history to get us out of this hole. I don't think it's possible for George W. Bush to get us out of this hole. You honestly get fed by Fox News don't you? What has worked in the past? You mean what got us down in this hole which was caused by Bush? Obama's programs have all been working - I think it'll be a couple more years before you see the true result. Avoid Fox News and try to find a better source for your information.
  11. What's so bad about it? It would eliminate corporate greed and a lot of the people who make low wages and struggle won't have that problem.
  12. I can believe what I want to believe. If I want to believe in a big government, how does that impact you personally? It doesn't.
  13. The government didn't get us into the hole. Well, they did but that was George Bush. Thankfully, he is out of office now, but two terms of Obama won't be enough to get us out of the big mess he left for us. Honestly, I would like to see a flat wage for everybody - something of $20/hour like you mentioned. It will take time, and the government may need to bail out a couple of companies, but it worked well with General Motors so I expect it to do big things. You can't sit there and deny that George Bush isn't the reason that we're in the hole we are today.
  14. I enjoy the system the KHSAA has in place, but honestly I would like to see every team get an opportunity in the playoffs, regardless of record. The playoffs bring about a special experience that nobody should be denied, even if your team is on the losing end of a 63-0 beating in the first round. There needs to be a special setup so that everybody can make the playoffs and have an opportunity to win the state tournament. I think that will actually increase competition. You look at the NCAA basketball tournament and people complained when it was built up to 64 teams. I personally think it should be 96 teams, but it's not uncommon to see a 2 seed or a 3 seed lose in the first round. I think it would be the same way with 96 teams and I also think it would be the same in high school should more teams be allowed to compete. Don't know for sure, but it's a solution I am confident in.
  15. I'm more willing to listen to you PP92 because you're not bigoted, show me where the riots didn't occur though - I thought I saw them all over every news channel after the trial? I could be wrong and maybe you could correct that.
  16. I guess so, but at this point in time I think it has got to the point where we need government to interfere and get us out of this hole.
  17. Shame on you all for not wanting people to receive fair compensation for their duties. A lot of people (especially Republicans) act as if minimum wage workers were second class people. Have you all not thought about the situations of these people? They deserve the same opportunity as everybody else, and should feed their kids. Greedy CEO's may not like it, well they can just cut their excessive pay that they use for their big mansions. You really need to break away from Fox News and get into the mainstream with what is really going on in society.
  18. Republican talking point? Why do you want to deny people their right to good wages?
  19. This is another issue where Republicans are putting agenda before country. It's evident that guns need to be regulated. 90% of people in America believe that guns need to be regulated.
  20. I don't watch MSNBC, I watch CNN, thank you very much. However, you can't be telling me this stuff when you use The Blaze as a source, LOL. Naive? Watch what's going on and you'll easily see that the Republicans are the source behind the problem. Thank you!!! Very encouraging!!!
  21. Isn't this great? I'm hoping the rest of the nation will adopt something similar. I would like to see $15.00 per hour but if it goes to $12.50 per hour I won't complain. This means workers will be compensated fairly, they will be more enthusiastic on their jobs, and Seattle will be booming because a lot of people are going to want to move there since they don't discriminate on minimum wage.
