  1. I'm a Trinity guy thru & thru obviously, but I'm a realist. Male has to be the odds on favorite to win 6A. They had a young team in 2013, beat X & T twice. Plus, their QB Mattingly is back, the most important position on the field. T & X have no clue who the QB will be, Male is my prediction, thoughts???
  2. Since thsrocks let the cat out of the bag I will comment on it. Don't buy in to the "Multiple Position" stuff, one of the advantages to being at T or X is that you can Platoon, your opponent is physically exhausted second half & you are fresh bc your guys go 1 way, Defense or Offense, that's the advantage. Beatty isn't going to give that up, he only wants to ensure he has quality backups if guys go down, that's it. Can't wait to see who the DC will be, that's the only thing that matters, although the new Dline coach seems to be very qualified.
  3. Pretty sure he was at CAL, saw him play basketball, pretty good athlete
  4. The article I posted is about a QB that played at IMG last year & just transferred and is attending X now and apparently(according to Orca1), he suffered an arm injury & will now be playing DB for the Tigers and not QB, his name is clearly mentioned in the link above & the article, sorry for the confusion.
  5. I believe you, obviously you're in the know, thanks --- and I sincerely hope the kid is 100% and ready to play come Fall.
  6. Quarterback Cody Morton finds great opportunity through joining IMG Academy Football program | IMG Academy
  7. I'll believe the defense spiel when I see it, can't wait till July!!!
  8. I heard St X received another transfer QB, a Junior to be maybe? Anyone have any details on the kid?
  9. Congratulations to Charles & the Walker Family. He's a great kid & UK is lucky to have him. There's no doubt in my mind he'll eventually earn a scholarship once they see what they have.
  10. Random Thought: The thing that is so strange to me about Trinity is they already had 2 of the best defensive coaches in State History on the staff last year, John Ellington, freshman DC & Mickey Kalbin, Varsity D Line coach, both these guys coached & led Trinity's Defense(Kalbin DC, Ellington DLine) during our State Record 50 game Win streak from '88 - '91, just don't understand why we didn't use one of these guys when Swabeck stepped down, maybe they just didn't have interest in doing it anymore, understandable, oh well...... GO ROCKs!! The season can't get here fast enough......
  11. I'll take a shot: 1)Trinity 2)St. X 3)Manual 4)Male 5)Bowling Green 6)Highlands 7)Covington Catholic 8)Danville 9)Boyle County 10)Newport Central Catholic 11)Lexington Catholic 12)John Hardin 13)Scott County 14)Collins 15)Louisville Central 16)Mayfield
  12. Also, heard entire Defensive staff was let go except for DB coach & Alum, Devian Logan. Not a surprise in my humble opinion, Trinity's failures on D last year were more a reflection of the schemes they were running. I know we were young & playing top teams but the schemes were extremely fundamentally unsound, due to the inexperience of the Defensive coaching staff(Other than Dline Coach Kalbin who is retiring). Very happy Coach B pulled the trigger & made a change. The new D coaches have not been finalized as of this posting but are being interviewed.
  13. Here is a breakdown by position for 2014, please feel free to add anyone I may have forgotten about in the replies: QB: Will be a battle for the starting position by Senior to be Ryan Young who was undefeated at the JV level last year & has some Varsity experience vs talented Sophomore to be Larry Harper JR who has no Varsity experience. If anyone says they know who the starter will be they have no clue, one of these guys will have to win the position come Fall camp, can't wait to watch. Oline: Lots of experience coming back, 5 returning starters with 4 that will be Juniors(Bryant Colvin, Will O'Rourke, Max Martin, Michael Hiestand) & 1 Senior(Michael Smigel), lots of size across the board, should be a Strength this year, quality backups as well. RB: Absolutely loaded with highly recruited Senior to be Donald Brooks & Junior to be Jalen Reed, you would be hard pressed to find a better duo in the backfield this year anywhere in the state. Donald Brooks is the slasher with great speed while Reed will get you the tough physical yards between the tackles, they are a great compliment to one another. WR: A solid group that will mostly be loaded with Juniors. The standout in this group will be Junior to be Rodjay Burns. He's a big, physical receiver with great hands, had a great sophomore campaign making All District. DLine: Should be a strength this year w/ 4 returning starters comprised of 3 Seniors - Matt English(All District), Adam King & Zach Burger & 1 Junior - Connor Foos who made All District & Honorable Mention All State as a Sophomore. Several quality backups as well with experience including Senior Landon Corolla. LB: Also should be a strength, loaded with 4 returning starters, 2 Seniors: Alex Reisert(Honorable Mention All State), Brentton Ervin & 2 Juniors: Damon Lowe & Vincent Lococo DB: Outside of 2 year starter & Senior to be FS Canon Jackson, lots of jobs will be open in the secondary. Most of these spots will probably be filled with a lot of speed & talent coming up from the Sophomores & Juniors to be, just will need to gain valuable experience which they will get throughout the regular season. I think they'll be a solid group by the playoffs.
