  1. Yea... been a long week. It’s tonight. Looking forward to a good matchup. Anyone know if there will be a video link for the game? Saw there will be no public ticket sales, family only.
  2. Biased? Yes. But I think the Johnson Central/Wayne County game will be a good one!
  3. The #3 Golden Eagles of Johnson Central will travel to Wayne County to take on the top ranked Cardinals in a game that is sure to excite. Meeting for their third time in the last three years, these teams will once again battle it out for a trip to the big dance. Johnson Central (11-2), the defending State Champs, come into the contest fresh off a decisive, 54-27 rematch victory on the road over Ashland, while Wayne County (12-1) exploded in the second half to win 45-18 on the road against Lou. Western. There were no common opponents between these two teams this year, but both played their share of high caliber teams. The winner will advance to the KHSAA Class 4A State Championship and play either #4 Collins or #5 Franklin-Simpson, 4:30 Saturday Dec. 2 @ Kroger Field in Lexington. Prediction: 21-20 Wayne County
  4. I’ve heard it over and over again. #1 seed vs. #4 seed is demoralizing for the #4 seed. It’s unfair. It’s going to be a blow out. Most of these games are blowouts or not even close, and the JV gets to play over half the game. Why not just get rid of it then? There is a such thing as a first round bye. The #1 seed obviously did something right to get the top spot in their district, reward them for it. This would eliminate the 2-8, 1-9, 0-10 teams from small districts just getting a playoff game that everyone knows the winner of before it’s played. Makes district play slightly more competitive, and makes taking the top spot even more appealing than just a easy first round match up. Didn’t make the top 3? Sorry. It’s football, not always fair. Just like life. Hit the weigh room, study film, work your butt off in spring ball and over the summer, and better luck next year. Will there still be blowouts? Of course!? There are blowouts all throughout the playoffs, even in the state championship games, it’s never just not going to be a thing. There’s no drastic change needed for this either. District play remains the same, playoff rounds remain the same. Just eliminate the #1v #4 game in the first round and #1 gets a bye. Thoughts? Opinions? Please.
  5. #1 Wayne County will travel to #6 Lou. Western for a game that will only be the second meeting between these two schools. After starting the year against some tough opponents at 1-4, the Warriors come into the contest at 8-4 and have went on a 7 game win streak to match up with the top ranked Cardinals in the 4A Region 3 Championship. The Cardinals come into the contest at 11-1 with their only loss coming from 3A #2 Boyle County back in week four. Both teams swept through district play back in the regular season and are the #1 seed from their respective districts. The Cardinals look to advance to their fourth simi-final in the last 5 years (third in the last 3), while it’s been 7 years since the Warriors advances to the fourth round. These teams have each beat their 3 common opponents this year. Western: @Valley 28-7 Clay Co. 43-0 Knox Cent. 12-3 Wayne Co. Valley 43-0 @Clay Co. 49-20 Knox Cent. 51-28 Prediction: Wayne Co. 45 Western 27
  6. Last time these teams met, the final was 27-0 Wayne. Keep in mind though, it was 3-0 at the half before Wayne exploded in the 3rd quarter. That being said, Wayne had 3 good chances to score in the first half but came up short. Has the potential to be a good matchup based on previous years, but I’m gonna take Wayne in this one. Wayne rolls 42-7
