  1. Back to the subject. Didn't a Trinity big man win Mr. Basketball their championship season?

Yes.... Nathan Dieudonne Bio - GoTerriers.com - Official Home of Boston University Athletics

Nathan Dieudonne - Had a stellar four-year career at Trinity H.S. ... Named the state of Kentucky's Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior after leading team to its first-ever state title ... Named MVP of the Sweet 16 after collecting 70 points and 33 rebounds in the four games for the Shamrocks ... Finished senior season at 14.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.4 spg and 1.3 apg ... Served as team captain and also received All-State First Team accolades ... Placed on the All-Seventh Region First Team squad as a junior and senior ... Played soccer his freshman year at the goalkeeper position ... Ranked third in the state for shutout performance.

  2. Shellman is 6'6", isn't he? Is he going to play in college? He appears to be an awfully good player.

What about Willie Schurfranz? His dad is a 7-foot physician who is a Trinity grad and who, I think, held the Bellarmine FG percentage record until Thelen broke it. Will he play in college?

I'd love to see the Colts make it to Rupp. Willie's grandfather also played for Bellarmine.

Shellman will play college somewhere. D2/D3 ranks I believe is where I saw teams he had offers from or was visiting.

  3. The current Sophomore class has been playing together since 7th grade. They have had limited playing time at the Varsity level because that group was so loaded. The JV team only lost 1

game this season. These boys have waited patiently for their time to shine, and BELIEVE me- they will.

Also, the word on the street is that there may be some more players leaving Waggener after this year.

It would not surprise me one bit.... There is a reason 2 other guards left last year.

  4. I agree about tempo. So I will take Trinity. They have been able to control the tempo the last several meetings. Trinity size seems to give Ballard trouble. Ballard constantly attacks them and has to shoot over them. Ballards run and jump traps is usually not a factor with Trinity. Their size helps them with pressure. Ballard needs to shoot well from the perimeter. JCPS has blown it again with scheduling. I realize you cant control the snow but this should have been an 8:30 game. Also both the 6th/7th region final will be on the same night. That will not be good. Not sure why they didnt play finals on Thurs/Friday

Maybe to have minimal conflict with girls state tournament that will be going on...

  6. I believe their main point guard is Devin Cooper...he scored 26 last night and averages around 18. If Kevin Kirby were playing Waggener wouldve probably won by more. That AAU coach stocked the team two years ago; since then there have been two transfers. One transfer starts for FC the other at Central. That AAU coach was also a part of one of the biggest point shaving scandals in NCAA history.

Cooper is really the shooting guard who is forced to play point.... Amazing both kids that transferred from Waggener are better players and getting the coaching they need.

  7. I watched the Eastern/KCD game and was actually impressed with Eastern's play early in the game. KCD is not the KCD of the past. They had two players who were 2nd team All Region and Eastern had them down 16 at the half. The game got a lot closer in the final quarter, but Eastern was always in control. Reed was big in the 1st Q, but really did not impact the game like Trey Moses. Stranger things have happened, Eastern could win the district championship without Reed, but it will be much harder to do so.

Ballad has so much speed and can match Moses height. Should be a run away game. Plus I think Easter struggles with their guard play, which should allow Ballard's press to be effective.

Now, being this is kind of a rivalry game, should be close early, but Ballard still runs away with the game.

  8. Fern Creek vs Jtown was a great game last night. Creek came in with a game plan & stuck with it the whole game. Johnson couldn't get a clean shot or get to the basket all night. He finished with a season low of 9 points with no basket since the 1st qtr (6 1st qtr, 3 free throws rest of game). Creek struggled with their shot the 2nd half soo they got to basket for scoring. Others for Jtown tried to pick up scoring but with bad shots which hurts team. Nothing but good things for Fern Creek with the coaching & kids. They play hard and listen to coaches.

Johnson's school decision should be by end of March. Should be an exciting next chapter...

  9. Just making noise when I said Parker dominates Sutton. I know Sutton is going to score & rebound. But Male won with inside out presence. And they got that from Parker with total team balance. The same I would say for Johnson with Jtown, he is going to do his thing no matter the defensive. Other guys have to step up to be successful in big game situation..

  10. Per Courier Journal :

"Will Parker added 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Will Cook finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the victory."

    and

"Miller hopes beating Manual for the third consecutive season will be a spark as the Bulldogs wrap up the regular season."

    and

"Friday’s game also marked the season debut of Deondrai Williams, who suffered a severe cartilage injury in his knee during the preseason. He only scored five points, but coach Larry Miller said his presence on the floor filled a huge hole for the inconsistent Bulldogs."
