  1. Well said! It's one thing to get that D1 offer. It's another to have a meaningful D1 career. Let's face it - D1 is every kid's dream, but often they'd be better advised to go the D2 route. Unless they're on a UK or Duke type team, no one will know/care/remember that they played D1 5 to 10 years later. Then it will be about looking back on the quality of the basketball and classroom "experience." That's where I think your Bellarmine reference is extremely relevant.

One last point in regard to your comment on the difference being size and strength. While that certainly is true, often times it has as much to do with exposure. I've seen plenty of kids playing around the country that, IMO, are on the level of higher ranked kids - but aren't the household names for whatever reason. So, marketing/exposure is often equally as big of a factor.

Also just to add...... A lot of D1 players transfer down to other levels.

  2. I can promise one thing , nobody is going to outwork Hagen. His dedication to improving his game is unmatched. Proof that if you work hard and do things the right way good things will happen. IMO there's not a better player in the state, period. If he played at a bigger school that got better exposure he would be a frontrunner for Mr. BASKETBALL. I still think he has a chance to be in the running next season. How he was left off the All State team last season is beyond me. And it's almost laughable he didn't make the Ky Jr All Star team.

Can't base anything off the JR All Star tryout... Team was already selected (nobody really want to believe that). 1 or 2 guys played their way on the team but real team players are missing from that team.

  3. Wells was playing with Central yesterday. Interesting since technically you cant practice until school is out, only "open Gym," how well he knew their system. A change of address shouldnt come into play with Cedntral. They are like Manual in they have no district. Kids apply to Central and if they dont make it academically they can be put out. Its always interesting In Louisville to see who transfers. You usually know by the first or second summer event. Nothing is ever done.

If he is already playing with Central, he must already be enrolled with Central. Otherwise Central could get into some trouble.

  4. This is just AAU basketball.. You have to find what makes you happy... The cost to play with TheVille2015 & Travelers are the same (which is really only hotel cost for parents).. He is doing what makes him Happy, get to work out with a former UofL big man to refine his game. Plus TheVille2015 relies on scoring from all positions (very good team play) plus the level of competition is really no different than EYBL (people would be surprised).. Being happy playing basketball at the high school level is important as it drives his desire at the next level. Spaulding has a great future in front of him no matter where he plays.

  5. People change teams all the time.. Spaulding played with TheVille for a couple of years back in the past. Nobody saying anything with the kids that moved on from the magic... The kid was not happy, so now he is playing with a bunch of friends of his.. Basketball at this age is about having fun, if you really know the kids, that is what is happening for Spaulding..

  6. My understanding was he was unhappy playing with them.. There was talk before AAU season started that he was going to play with TheVille2015.. Any other rumors besides he did not want to play with Travelers anymore is false. There was also another Trinity kid quit the Travelers.

  7. Both team pulled out of the tournament.. The tournament was very unorganized on Sunday... The prospects schedule caused them to be in Gym @ 8 Sunday morning but didn't play till 11:30 and their next game did not start till late after Ville played. Ville was just sitting around with no true time of game... That was just one side of bracket.. Other side was messed up as well.. Multiple teams pulled out...

  8. Waggener losses it’s two toughest and top defensive players in Ingram and Maddox to graduation. If everyone stays they will be very deep and ready to make the next step in the region, returning 9 of their top 11 including three starters. Rumors are that PF Kevin Kirby and SG Tony Washington are going to Fern Creek and point guard Brandon Wells to Central. If this happens they will lose 4 starters and three of top 4 back court players, along with top two low post players. Hill and Krathalm will be the only big’s left and super freshman (sophomore to be) Devon Cooper will have to burden more of the load then he did last year. So Waggener will move to the top of the 7th or stay middle of the pack.

I heard the same about those kids. Question is why Well would go to Central. In any case, How would those guys become eligible is the biggest question.

  9. Stafford had the winning bucket to advance the Ville against WKY Elite. He can penetrate any defense and get to the rim.

The winning bucket was against the NKY Bulldogs on Friday night. Against WKU Elite, The Ville started 6 down in the 4th and blew the game wide open.

Stafford can ball. Being a starter @ Trinity says a lot about him.
