In the West Kentucky Hoops Classic Clarksville Northeast 56
Paducah Tilghman 37
Final
-
Caldwell County is hosting the West Kentucky Hoops Classic the 27th and 28th. I think they play 3 games those 2 days. It's a pretty nice showcase for both boys' and girls' teams. 14 teams from 6 states.
-
Congratulations to the new Coach Barnes! Anyone they chose is gonna get a lot of support. Go Tigers!
-
Madisonville should be ranked higher. They're gonna be very hard to beat. After the KOB you may have you're new #1.
-
That was an awesome game.

Congratulations to @Jumper_Dad and his Jumpers on the State Championship!

Wow! 86 yards to glory.

This is the game we all expected. Great, hard-hitting affair.

If Boyle gets up 2 scores and takes JC out of it's game plan, this one has the potential to get ugly. On the other hand, if Boyle gets down 2 scores would if even change their offense at all? They have a lot of big play players that can strike quick, fast, and in a hurry. So in my opinion, JC would have to be up 17 or more points late in order to feel comfortable.

Both teams have some special kids this year. This is the matchup 2A had lead up to all year, now here we are. It should be a great football game with some exciting plays. @Jumper_Dad, I'll always have a soft spot for Somerset after our old football talks of the past, but having seen what Mayfield can do to a good team, I believe Mayfield wins this game. Best of luck to all involved!

Having Johnson Central ranked ahead of Boyle is a toss up at best. I guess we'll see this weekend. From being just a high School football fan, not being a fan of Boyle County, although my father went there, I believe this Boyle County team will be talked about historically. Reese Smith is a special athelete.
-
Mayfield's championship game experience and their players and coaches expecting to win every time they walk on the field will be the difference for me. Somerset's 0-5 record in championship games will be mentioned over and over. If someone hears this enough, it will have maybe the smallest effect, but just enough.

This is THAT year where Boyle County would have a good chance, if not win the whole thing. I haven't seen them in person, only on video, and talked to a college recruiter I know, and he said they have some really special kids on their roster. I'm not saying that Make or Trinity aren't great, but this could 've the year a lower than 6A team could win.

How about JUST using the rpi system for the playoffs? Top 32 teams get in and play it out that way. That would get the actual best result, I would think. The parity of this year's 3A class would have made for some really interesting early round games.
-
Yeah ok. So you think Mayfield is better than Cov Cath? BW hung with Cov Cath the first half. Mayfield will not put up 50 on BW. My guess is this BW team will be the best team Mayfield has played this year. Buckle up.
Ii am by no means a Mayfield fan. I have great respect for the program and have seen this year's team play twice. You say Beachwood "hung with" Covington Catholic for a half? They list 49-3. Having seen Somerset on video, against BW, Stinson, Mayfield's QB, will take shots at your secondary, their RB, Gailbreath I think is his name, has breakaway speed, and their receiving Corp will compare favorably against any team Beachwood has played. Having seen the scores on the KHSAA website, I change my score to 63-3. Beachwood is really good and a great program, but they are a year or 2 away in my opinion.
-
This one could get ugly. I'll take Mayfield 56-14.
-
Here's an understatement. Mayfield is hard to beat on their home field in the playoffs. When was the last home playoff loss?
-
ToP, you're doing a good job at being fair here, for sure. I'd hate for this to tarnish the Paintsville name in any way, as Kash Daniels is one of my all time favorite Wildcats and Tyler Childers is a fav too.
-
It's a shame for anything like this to happen anywhere.
-
If Paintsville won't do anything themselves PUBLICLY, the KHSAA should definitely do something to the individual and the program. A year of no home games in any sports maybe. If this happened once or more at my high school, I would be ashamed. Sad thing is nothing will happen because the offender is "a good kid" or if you speak up you have "no hometown spirit". Those from Paintsville that have spoke up should be commended.
-
Is there any way both teams can lose this game? Asking for a friend.
-
I forgot all about Aaron McClung. He would be good too, but may not be interested in the job.
-
I agree that the offender should be banned from events. If this type of behavior persist, it isn't an individual problem. It's a program, school, and community problem.
1st Region Week 4 Review

Why is PT still ranked so high, yet Caldwell County in the 2nd Region rankings is barely in the top 10 in that region after playing the same exact opponents with the same results by pretty much the same scores? PT has lived off of "tradition" in the rankings for too long, or is the 2nd region just that much stronger this year?
