Rookie defensive coordinator and a subpar secondary is all I got on this.  I’ve never seen so many blown coverages in one year.

Coombs is currently reaping the mediocre recruiting in the secondary when he left for the Titans. Now that he’s back he’s got to restock the cupboard. We’ll see a full load of young guys next year. If the team is going to make another run at a title, Hancock will almost certainly be a key contributor.

I’m scared to think who he could take. Dennis has Quinn Ewers locked up, Hartline is a beast, LJ is HOF, Pantoni and Mick are the best at what they do.

Same. Obviously Dennis has a different relationship with Urban than everyone else being his son in law. I’m not sure if Urban would take him to the NFL though being that he’s still fresh in to coaching. I just don’t know. I don’t think he’ll gut the staff completely by any means. I would think Wilson and Mattison are very likely to be near the top of Urbans list.

I thought it then easily with this defense.  We just didn’t see anyone who could expose it until last night.  We got better as the year went on but the D still sucks, I was right then and right now.

The secondary sucks. The front 7 when everyone was healthy was elite. We saw that against Clemson. It also makes it even more mind boggling that we decided to give them zero help against the best offense in the country.

I think all options are on the table.  Day is waiting too see who Urban poaches first.

That’s a fair point. I feel like we’ll have a good idea of what the OSU staff looks like by the end of this week because I feel like the Meyer announcement to the Jags is imminent. I don’t see Marotti as an NFL style S&C so I feel like he’s still going to be at OSU, but do you think Pantoni is going with Urban? Those are the two of the 4 most important guys for me along with LJ and Hartline.

  5. We have a lot of people on here that have seen a lot of football and know football well. Have you ever seen a team play a 4-4 base defense against a team as loaded offensively like Bama was? I mean my lord there were times where because of scheme, OSU had a linebacker on the literal Heisman trophy winner. Like JA mentioned, it wasn’t going to make a difference besides being a little closer, but just inexplicable to set yourself up for failure like that. @John Anthony do you think we see any changes coming as far as coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball?

  6. Just an absolute methodical massacre last night. No other way around it. Bama is just on a totally different level. I could tell really early that unless OSU puts up 50 we had no chance. Devonta Smith is obviously incredible, but as I mentioned to JA yesterday, the key to the game was Najee Harris. We could not stop him. Just an incredible player. Would have loved to have seen Fields leave a champion, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Bama is just a machine and it takes a team at 100% to compete with them and OSU just didn’t have it last night. I mean there’s nothing you can do but tip your cap to Bama.

  7. Good get for UK. Wan’Dale wasn’t utilized well at Nebraska which is unfortunate. I’m marrying in to a family of Huskers so I kind of am sad to see him leave Nebraska because all of the sudden find myself rooting for them. But UK is the place for Wan’Dale and if he was honest he probably would have went to Lexington to begin with.

Michigan State line backer Luke Fulton is rumored to be transferring to UK. Fulton was recruited hard by UK out of Cardinal Mooney, but chose the Spartans. Had some off field issues due to a fraternity party dust up and may be looking for a clean slate.

Fraternity party dust up so let’s transfer to an SEC school. Definitely won’t get in any fraternity dust ups there.

Appreciate it my man!  The line has moved to Bama -9, a lot of late money coming in on Bama. I don’t like seeing that, please hold up OSU secondary.

Also, hearing possible Covid issues with the OSU kicking team and Dline.  Backup RB Miyan “Meatball” Williams is out.  Need Master Teague back, I’m guessing Vegas got word of some of this.

On a Vegas note, I got a notice from my book that they boosted the odds for Bama to win so that raised my eyebrows on the fact maybe Vegas feels good about OSU. Who knows? Haha

I know what you mean. It is a rush to have your squad playing in the natty. I think OSU wins in a really fun game. OSU looks like a ticked-off well-oiled machine. And Bama is Bama. Got to love college football. Best of luck tonight. You have your food and drinks all ready to go?

Oh yeah. Beer and liquor run after work and finalizing the wings order right now to pick up around 6:30. Stocked humidor for a hopeful victory cigar on the deck after the game.

    Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Mike Brown would just tell him to re-use the Gatorade cups.

Mike Brown To Urban after seeing him throw a Gatorade cup in the trash: “Hey Urban, are you planning on drinking anymore Gatorade today?”

Urban: “Huh? What are you talking about? Yeah I’ll probably drink more Gatorade today, why?”

MB: “ Well around here we like to be resourceful so if you’re planning on drinking more Gatorade today here’s a sharpie and just write your name on it and use it the rest of the day. You know Burrow only has 4 more years left on his rookie deal. We need to start saving pennies now.” *chuckles*

Urban: *Cyst on his brain immediately flairs up*

Behind Henry, I put Chubb as the next best RB in the league. Some days I think he is better.

I still lean McCaffrey and Kamara because of their versatility over both of those guys, but for pure traditional style running backs these 2 are the bar right now for sure.

I was hoping the Bengals would get Urban.

Mike Brown and Urban would be more toxic than Michael Drake and Urban. It just wouldn’t work. Urban is used to blank checks. Mike Brown would make him send a detailed invoice to buy more Gatorade cups in the locker room. Meanwhile Shad Khan has been wooing Urban on his mega yacht for the past 2 weeks.

Game day!!  Man, what an incredible ride from the B1G trying to cancel the season, to OSU not belonging, all the way to the Natty.  I wish other fanbases could experience the nerves and anxiety today of waiting for kickoff.  OSU has their hands full against Bama.  I think this is might be the best Bama offense under Saban ever.  Will the OSU defense prove my early season criticism wrong?  Also, I know we have a few Bama fans on here, we have full respect for you all.  You’re not Dabo in full 1980 WWF talk smack, look like an idiot mode.    @GrantNKY

It should be illegal to have to work on the day your team is in the Natty. Come 4:30 though, my heart rate will be through the roof until that last second ticks off the clock. It wouldn’t be appropriate for OSU to be in this position without a ton of adversity of faux controversy. Let’s hope our boys bring it home tonight!

  15. It’s pretty close to being done. It’s not 100% yet, but pretty close. No idea how Urban will do in the NFL, but the Jags were by far the youngest team in the league this year but have a good young core still and getting Trevor Lawrence can’t hurt. I don’t know how he’ll do, but it will definitely be interesting. No one in college football has ever been better at immediately turning around culture immediately. But Urban is also very dependent on his guys. Will be very curious to see the staff he puts together.

Let's say masks are 5% effective. Is that good enough for you to wear one? Because it isn't for me.

Umm yeah. That’s absolutely enough for me to wear one. Why isn’t it enough for you? It’s the most minor inconvenience imaginable. It takes zero effort and impacts your life zero. Being frustrated because things are shut down, no events, etc. is understandable. We’re all frustrated by that and everyone wants to be able to live their normal life again. Being frustrated by having to wear a mask because you don’t think it’s effective enough? I just don’t understand that at all.

I might be able to agree with mask effectiveness against the flu. The only thing I'm not buying is we have no clue if we've hit our flu season yet. Sometimes it is later (February/March).

The jury is still out on effectiveness for Covid though. We’ve had masks since March. We didn't peak until late April. Then November hits and our numbers have been surging since.

So you think the masks work for the flu but not for Covid even though they are spread in the exact same way? I think it was @Voice of Reason who quoted the other day, “Only a sith speaks in absolutes.” We’re not dealing with absolutes. Its not masks work 100% of the time. They don’t. But just because something doesn’t work 100% of the time doesn’t mean it doesn’t work at all. That’s the grey area. That’s why it takes a communal effort to slow this down.

Ok. Let's say that masks are working for flu. It wouldn't appear that masks are working for Covid. Can we agree with that?

No we absolutely can’t agree on that. Covid is not the flu. Covid is similar to the flu in that it’s an airborne, respiratory virus. That’s why the masks work. The masks aren’t perfect. Nobody ever said they were perfect. But they 100%, without a doubt, work. The numbers for Covid would be astronomical without masks. You can use the low flu numbers this year to people wearing masks. It’s not like the flu just isn’t happening this year, it is. The flu numbers are just at record lows. That doesn’t mean we can’t be better at wearing masks still. People are wearing masks and as a result we are having a low flu season and Covid numbers are way lower than they would be without the masks. But as Deuce has mentioned, despite the high percentage of mask usage, it’s not an exact science. Masks aren’t always worn correctly. We aren’t wearing them at home or in gatherings with close friends and family. But again that doesn’t mean that they don’t work and you can point to the flu this as direct evidence of that.

Weak flu season... as in the flu strain is weak this year. We don't have a clue if masks are effective with the flu because we have no idea of how prevalent the flu strain is.

We do know that Covid is prevalent. We know that at a minimum in public settings masks are being worn nearly religiously. Yet numbers are climbing everywhere. We can blame spread on the private setting all we want but Covid is making its way in the private setting despite distancing orders, work from home, distance learning, and masks.

I don't think you can sell the effectiveness on masks based on low flu numbers while Covid runs rampant.

Weaker flu strain. It’s a weak flu season in general because of the other precautions being taken to prevent Covid. We’ve never seen flu numbers like this before. It’s just a mere coincidence that in the year of Covid that we have record breakingly low flu numbers? I don’t know about that one brother.

Well for one, you can't say it's a weak flu season and say that masks work because look at the low flu numbers in the same breathe either.

It’s an extremely weak flu season. We are wearing masks and social distancing. You don’t believe that there’s a correlation between these two events?
