  1. I understand that and agree but this is disturbing: Claims for unemployment benefits last week are expected to total about 5.25 million, bringing the number of Americans filing to more than 15 million.

I understand some might like it, get a free check sit home all summer and see what happens. I’m more of a contrarian, what exactly will people be going back too? Are we too assume the same job wages will be open, what about people who were vested 10+ years in a company, who have to start over?

I agree it's concerning and the numbers are historic. But at the same time these numbers had been anticipated prior to release. We basically shutdown the nations service industry. These are uncharted waters and I don't think anyone 100% has the answer, there just isn't a precedent to build off. But we need to focus on maintaining payroll and production lines. There will be a period of adjustment and rebound , but if we can maintain those key components we can get to a place of normal that will allow us to build off historical data.

  2. Dick’s Sporting Goods furloughs most of its 40,000 employees. They didn’t see it coming. But you think small business owners who operate on razor thin margins saw it coming, or you think they have the liquidity to get through several months off?

Every small business owner in America needs to hire you my man for consultancy!

Again to be fair as long as small business owners are taking advantage and this shutdown doesn't last to much longer, the small business loan program should sustain most. I do disagree with PP92 downplaying the effects of our long term economy. While we need to greatly have concern about our physical health, our mental and financial health need to be major factors as well.

  3. The 30% UE numbers in my opinion comes from some faulty data , even if some of the economist are people I respect . I just disagree on the interpretation. The key factor will surround the Small Business loan program and owner's understanding of the program. Most small businesses should survive as long as they are savvy and act promptly.

  4. The people I know who are now unemployed aren’t making close to what they did before. Heck, most of the people I know are still waiting to get their card issued due to the portal crashing, due to unprecedented amounts of claims. I get it, some people will buy into the fear mongering to take the summer off and collect a check but that’s not the demographic that drives America.

This is an issue. If someone does not have a bank account for direct deposit in Ohio right now , waiting on that card is a huge problem . I think the people making more money on UE are employees at bars/restaurants, not counting those bartenders at very successful bars. But that won't even be the case until the $600 kicks in.

  5. The problem right now is the models are all over the place and no consistency. We will be back to at the very least a South Korea model sooner rather than later. I do believe there is a middle ground on this decision making. Health professionals can't be the only people who decide because they will look for sum zero, it can't be a 100% economic advisors because their focus will be on profit. There is a healthy blend of both pieces of information to reach the equilibrium.

I'm not one of the people down playing the risk but we already weigh the risk of 100's of things in our daily lives , and this pandemic will be no different. We have to gather the appropriate data and take the proper precautions but no functioning economy can sustain with a self enforced recession for long periods of time. There will be risk and some of them will be close to home for a lot of us but a time is coming soon where we will have to be back to a more normal outlook in our daily behavior.

  6. I am assuming you live in Kentucky, as I do. People around here just don't know how bad Helton is. I could go on about him, but, I don't have enough time to give you the full scope. All I will say is, with the 4th most talented roster in the NATION the last two years, he has went 13-12 with one of those seasons 5-7. I couldn't imagine Saban or Dabo or Kirby doing that. Heck, Couldn't imagine PJ Fleck doing that, with that much talent. SMH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was saying it in jest as a Notre Dame fan.

  7. USC plays UCLA and Cal in November when the play Notre Dame on the road. I have never heard that USC refuses to play in South Bend in November. But, ever since I can remember, since the 70's, they have always played in mid October when the game is in South Bend.

I feel like that has been always known? Why else would they switch the time of year for the home and home? What other rivalry does that ?

  8. Are you saying USC plays at Notre Dame in the cold or not? Contractually, they play in South Bend in mid October and in Los Angeles Thanksgiving weekend.

The contract reads that way because USC refuses to play the last game of the year in South Bend. USC won't play in South Bend past Mid October.

You are a USC fan if you say it's a smart move fine. But the fact is they won't play in South Bend when there is a greater chance of snow.

  9. It certainly doesn't hurt that for many SEC teams their bowl games are basically home games.

I get this mindset. But bowl games for the most part are a reward for players and I'm sure even players on the Northern team like the chance at a warm weather game this time of year.

Also warm weather attracts more fans to travel. Now I'm much more on your side of the argument during the regular season when warm weather teams refuse to schedule games on the road during cold weather season. Perfect example USC vs Notre Dame.

  10. I am flabbergasted that someone/anyone can commit a blatant, criminal offense like that and nothing happens. :idunno:

Mutual combat no harm no foul. I mean are some of you acting like this was a unique circumstance ? Tech had a gameplan to get in Bowden's head and it back fired.

  11. Bengals are 30th in total defensive yards and 25th in scoring defense.

26th in yards from scrimmage offense and 32nd in scoring offense.

A QB won't fix all of that. I'd take @theguru's plan and milk that pick for everything that I could get out of it.

The numbers are misleading because how bad the offense was for a huge chunk of the season. We need upgrades but when the offense did their part this defense played at a higher level than those rankings.

  12. It was unfortunate. I personally think the coaching box and coaching box technical is a joke to begin with.

But like I said, the story is the same for some, when Kentucky loses it is because Calipari got outcoached or isn't a good coach. When Kentucky gets a great win, which yesterday was, it is in spite of Calipari and his players bailed him out.

Some can never give credit where it's due, not sure why that's in their nature, but it is what it is.

I agree with this 100% . Refs pick and choose when to enforce this rule and to enforce it at that time when he wasn't even yelling at the refs seemed like a joke.

  13. An observation and a question.

OSU had four marquee players (more, but four for the purposes of this post). Two wore #1 on their backs (qb and dB) and two wore #2 (rb and de).

Has this recently become a thing?

Top players on the same team have wore the same number on opposites side of the ball for years. This might be the most extreme version in recent memory.

  14. I don't see this LSU team settling for field goals in the red zone. But I do think OSU probably has a better defense than LSU so we will probably see even bigger numbers from Lawerence . Until this Clemson group loses I won't count them out.

  15. The one thing that continues on every level of football to be true if you have a chance to put a good quaterback away you can't settle for field goals in the red zone. It stood out after every field goal. I don't know if it was play calling , decision making on the field , or great defense. But just convert one of those three trips in the first half different ball game.

  16. Maybe. Fields will be the front runner and will get it done, IMO.

I think both in Vegas will have similar odds. Lawerence will have the advantage of playing in the ACC again. He could be the slight favorite depending on what happens Jan . 13th.

What is OSU's non conference schedule in 2020? Trevor has one marquee game next year with Notre Dame.
