  1. I wasn't at the game, I was just asking. Although you did clear up one thing, Campbell doesn't have too much of a bench to let a press of Robertson County bother them( and that is no disrespect to Robertson County). I have watch RC play and they are not a pressing team with quickness. Thanks I4C for clearing things up.

I never said RC's press bothered us. I said they were pressing to try and get back in the game which resulted in us getting easy run outs and layup after layup which pushed the score to 30. We only had 4 turnovers on the night and none against the press. It's no secret we only go about 8 deep and 3 of the 8 are freshman. The 3 freshman combined for 40 points. I didn't see RC's coach using his bench very much or "running us out of the gym". :thumb:

  2. How much did Campbells bench play in this game? I look at the scoring and their starters represent 89 out of the 97 points. Seriously in a 37 point win?

Camels led by 21 after the 1st quarter. Led by 19 at the half. Robertson was pressing the whole 3rd quarter and beginning of the 4th which resulted in numerous layups which pushed the lead out to 30 midway through the 4th and the staters were pulled after that. Camels had a 30 point lead in the 3rd, called off the press and Saner hit some 3's to cut the lead to 22 and RC was turning up the full court pressure trying to get back in the game. Not sure what your complaint is but it's the regional tournament. Coaches aren't going to put subs in until they know the game is well in hand. I have no problem with what went on last night. Are we suppose to let subs in during the 3rd period so RC's starters can press, get steals and hit 3's to cut it to single digits. No coach in their right mind would do that. I can guarantee if RC would of pulled their starters beginning of the 4th, CC would of followed suit. Camels starters had 79 of the 97 points.

  3. Robertson County got on the board 1st with 2 free throws and the Lady Camels went on a 23-0 run. Camels held RC to 0 field goals in the 1st quarter and led 25-4 after the 1st. 2nd quarter RC's #14 Saner got hot from 3 point land to keep them within striking distance but the Lady Camels went on another run to lead 45-26 at the half. 2nd half saw CC pull away and the running clock came into play as CC won 97-60. Believe it or not CC shot horrible from 3 point land but was spectacular in all other parts of the game. Fast break layups, pressure defense layups and ball movement to unselfishly find the high percentage shots were huge tonight. Nice game by RC Saner 29 points. Her shot is unorthodox but they go in and she can fill it up. Kylie Kramer had 27 points to lead CC and the work horse, Kenzie Schwarber recorded another double double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Nice job Camels, stay focused and keep playing team basketball. :thumb:

  4. Very proud of this Lady Camel team. I agree with CKC that Kenzie Schwarber was an absolute beast tonight. Girl is just fun to watch, always undersized underneath but her relentlessness and hustle brings so much to this team. Camels ran a very good offense tonight (ball movement was key). Very unselfish, their defense was outstanding and they shot the ball extremely well. Great job Lady Camels, stay focused on your goals and let heart finish the journey. :thumb:

  5. Congrats to Camels on victory it was earned. Huge 3's by Fornash to stick the dagger in, but was the entire game really about the Camels "not clicking"? Brossart did what was necessary to slow them down and got back into the game on the defensive end. Again credit to Camels for making shots when necessary but the game was close because Brossart did some things to keep it that way, when teams are not playing well or "clicking" the other team does have something to do with that. Congrats to Camels on the win

I was responding to Mustang about the Camels offense. In no way shape or form was I trying to take anything away from Brossart. Sorry if you saw it that way, not my intention at all. Brossart showed a lot of heart by coming back from down 9 to take a 4 point lead. In that come back they were able to isolate Shannon and Schultz down low for some baskets and the one girl hit a big 3 in front of the Brossart bench. Camels were able to regroup and get out of there with the win. I said Brossart was able to keep it a low scoring game which is what the needed to do. IMO the Camels played worse last night than they did in the crosstown shootout (Offensively) so I'm happy to get out of there with a win last night.

  6. This was not the Camel team that I am used to seeing except when they woke up in the 4th Q. I had just said to Mr. Cat right before T. Jolly's trey that the Camels had not hit any 3 pointers yet which was unusual. Coach Menefee lit the girls up after Brossart went up by 4. I like that they reacted to that and took care of business.

I just wish Coach Menefee would give his "Come to Jesus" talk a little early in the game. The ole ticker has a hard time in games like this. Whatever he said to them in the timeout worked to perfection.

  7. If that was an ugly offensive game, I'd like to see them when their offense is clicking.

I will grant you that they went through a couple of extensive dry spells, but I thought that their offensive execution was brilliant, hurting us over and again with weak-side backdoor cuts. I thought their shot selection was good, and that they were patient on offense. I also thought that their transition game was effective, burning us on a couple of occasions with run-outs off of rebounds. They controlled the boards. Brossart had only one offensive rebound in the first half, and were one-done for most of the night.

Whether the Fornash 3-point shots were ill-advised or not could be up for discussion, however, she (and Taylor Jolly) were wide open when she nailed the the two coffin corner shots, and put the nail in ours.

Yes we got some back door cuts and shot the ball well for about 2-3 minutes of the 4th quarter which was huge but for 3 1/2 quarters we didn't shoot the ball well and looked very tight on offense. I agree we boxed out and contained Brossarts bigs very well. Just seeing our offense all year long and seeing it last night was not the same at all. We tried to force a lot of things and shots weren't falling early on. I'm not saying we didn't run any good half court sets, we did but when we are shooting well and being patient on offense it's really fun to watch. Brossart kept it a low scoring game which is what they needed to do. I just saw our defense as the key to this game as far as containing the bigs, help side D, boxing out and forcing turnovers.

Not taking anything away from CCHS girls, the press was stopped due to the number of fouls that were being called, most phantom. The stall was for the same reason. Anytime Holmes played defense they were called for a foul. That is the difference in the foul totals between the first and second half. Perkins could not risk his players fouling out. When you are getting homered to this degree sometimes a stall is the best tactic to take the refs out the game, and it worked.

You keep saying your not taking anything from the CCHS girls but when you come out firing with this game wouldn't even be close if it was played at Holmes, we got cheated by their refs. That's taking plenty away from those kids. Don't act like Holmes came out of the press only because of foul trouble. Was it a factor? Yes. But we were breaking the press in the 3rd quarter and getting layups and open 3's which got us back in it and Coach Perkins quickly fell back to a 2-3. That's not a shot at Holmes that was a good adjustment. As far as Holmes stalling with just under 2 minutes left and a 6 point lead, have no problem with that at all. Once again smart move, but we got a turnover off of it and hit a 3 to cut it 3 and Coach Perkins didn't go to stall ball cause he was getting homered. He went to stall ball to run time off the clock to get out of there with a win. We had 2 key players with 4 fouls that were playing and we went to zone early in the 4th and Holmes got 2 quick easy buckets and Coach Meneffe got out of that real quick and went right back to man.

  9.

Now that's funny... Seriously.. you were not there so why the comment... No practice or access to gym in 9 days.. Got to see exactly what expected Flat Flat Flat performance. Congrat to HHS seniors on win in final home game.

Not being there and making comments? That all sounds familiar and rings a bell but I do agree with you on districts being interesting with the long layoff for all the teams.... Wait we agreed on something... Did we just become best friends? You want to do karate in the garage?

  10. I think dg21 hit the nail on the head, Camels got punched in the chops the first half and came out and did the punching in the 2nd half. Camels didn't shoot as well as they have all year but a lot of that was due to Holmes defense. If someone would of told me that we would of had 2 wide open looks at the end of regulation to tie it up with the #2 team in the state, I would gladly take that. I thought the Camels did a great job of not allowing Holmes to turn this game into a track meet. Holding Holmes to 54 points is a job in itself and it gave us a chance to win. 3rd quarter saw the Camels breaking the press and getting some easy baskets and open 3's that had us closing the gap. Holmes coach adjusted and didn't even press the entire 4th quarter and went to a 2-3 zone and the Camels turned up their pressure on defense in the 2nd half to cause some turnovers. All this other nonsense is short changing all the girls from both sides of busting their tails in this game. For me it's real simple, more fouls called on Holmes in 1st half because they were the aggressor and had their full court press going. 2nd half was the complete opposite, more fouls on the Camels because they were the aggressor and pressed. I believe a game like this will benefit both teams going into the districts.

  11. Where do I start...... Ok I'll start with compliments....dg21 your daughter is a very nice player and Holmes has a very good athletic team... Lady Camels are the Rodney Dangerfield of girls NKY basketball, they just get no respect.... To insinuate that Holmes was cheated is an absolute joke. Maybe your mad because you came in expecting to win by 80.. It didn't happen, you won by 4. Take your victory humbly and move on. Holmes full court pressed the entire 1st half, Camels did not press the 1st half. They called 3 more fouls on the Bulldogs than us. 2nd half they called 4 more fouls on the Camels. Bulldogs missed a lot of layups and point blank shots, could the score of been worse? Sure could of but it wasn't. Camels got 2 open looks for 3's at the end to tie it up but couldn't get it to fall. Could the outcome of been different? Sure could of but it didn't happen. I don't see any Camel faithful crying cheating when our girls are dribbling up the court and get knocked to the ground and no foul is called. The fouls were 15-14 in favor of Holmes. You have a nice athletic team who has had a great year and you bring this garbage to the table. Seems like not many opponents want to give the Camels any credit for the year they are having. Joke. Nice job lady Camels polish up for districts. You've earned everything this year from hard work and team basketball.
