  1. Their schedule is pretty good. Henry Clay, South Laurel, North Laurel, Woodford Co, Simon Kenton, Collins, Oldham Co, South Oldham, North Oldham, and Anderson Co are on the schedule. Western Hills is a program they have opened with the last decade, and Lloyd is an athletic program that Owen plays in pretty much every sport, as they are similar in school size.

If they are fortunate enough to play in the All-A state tournament, there should be some good opponents there, although that would probably cost them some of those 8th region teams mentioned above that are scheduled in February.

Lloyd has joined th NCKC so they are now required to play them every season as well.

  2. My knock isn't on Williams it's on Owen County. I would make a tougher schedule.

Outside of playing the teams they are required to play because of location, I would say that Owen is playing a much tougher schedule than they ever have before. They can't get away from playing Eminence, Carroll, Henry etc twice a season. Their summer schedule is significantly tougher than it has ever been.

  3. Looks to be very talented. Highlights against Eminence and Walton doesn't necessarily help though. Wonder what recruiting would be like for him if he attended HS in Louisville or Lexington?

The nice thing about playing in the EYBL is that it gives small town players opportunity to play against high quality competition in front of big time coaches either live or online. He has also attended the Fab Frosh and Super Soph camps and attended a few elite camps. Don't really need to live in one of the big Ls to get recruited.

  4. What some may be forgetting is that sometimes the best 10 players do not gel together to make the best team. Hard to keep everyone happy in that situation and sometimes the chemistry just ain't there. You put the top ten players from any state together on a team and there might not be enough minutes or balls to go around. Teams need role players and that is sometimes an understandably hard adjustment for kids (and parents) to make.

  5. I'd love to see the team that turns down Quentin Goodin's rental services for the weekend. I have a hard time believing anyone would do that.

I think there may be a few who would turn down any rental player even one as good as Q due to loyalty to their regular players, no matter how much they would like to have him. Sportsmaniac says he would turn him down and I believe him. My son has played in a couple of tourneys as a guest player when a team was missing a player or two and even though all the players and parents were great about it, I had to wonder if some of them may have resented him getting some of their kids playing time. I kinda felt awkward about it even though the coach had approached us about adding him.

  6. Number one surprise is that Hoop Dreams 17 is not playing in the state tournament. Even without the services of Holman and Miller they should be good enough to be competitive. Number 2 surprise is that Manimal wanted a guest player for the state tourney, unless maybe they have some regulars out for some reason. Sometimes AAU is like a box of chocolates. Ya never know what your gonna get.

  7. I said all along that I was concerned about the lack of space and a few told me I was wrong. I saw that grandmother and felt really bad for her. I wish they would have made announcements telling people that there were others waiting. I could have left earlier. I was told by the guy at the gate that I could buy a band for all day but not get back in if I left.
