All this squawking over a tournament... :ohbrother:
A tournament that means the world to some basketball teams around the state.
-
The all A at one time used a certain enrollment number as a guideline as to whom was eligible but with consolidation and growth many schools were becoming too large to qualify. That's why they went to a set number of schools. Football classification has nothing to do with it. Owen County is 2A in KHSAA football, but have always been in the All A basketball tournament except for 2008 when they were about 10 students over the then limit. They are also 1A in XC and track per KHSAA guidelines. Easy to see how it gets confusing.

Not true. Not all teams are true 1a teams as you stated.[/quote
Ok I'm confused. How are teams permitted in the All A tournament if they are not.
-
I'd say state wide Perry is underrated.

Congratulations !!! to the Cordia lions .Cordia is a true 1A school . The school only has a graduation class of 20 to 30 students per year . I don't think they have ever won a district in the KHSAA . I'm very proud of this team . Hope they bring home a State championship Trophy . It would look nice in their trophy case . Go Lions !![/quote
According to the program Cordia is the smallest school in the tourney with enrollment of 97 however, all the teams in the tournament are true 1a teams or they wouldn't be there. I think it would be a good idea to have a stipulation in the all a tournament that any team ineligible for post season play due to khsaa sanctions will not be invited to participate in the All A regional tournament. I'm sure many may disagree but it seems fair to me.

I saw these 2 teams play a couple of weeks ago and the score was 67 to 46 so the margin of victory was not much different in the faster paced game. I don't blame a coach for using this tactic and I really don't see it employed very often. I just prefer to watch a faster paced game.

At Williamstown. Score was 14-13 Walton at half. Walton came out in a diamond and one on Stanley. Harden had his team hold it to bring Walton out of it, hence the low score. Walton outscored Williamstown 27-12 in second half. Williamstown went cold in the 4th scoring only one field goal.
I bet that was fun to watch. I vote for a shot clock in high school ball.

Any idea if/where he plans to play in college?
-
Carson Newman was down 21 in the first half but dug down and got the W. Awesome shot. Also Owen county alum, Sawyer Williams, had 29 in the game. A commentator stated that Zack and Sawyer seem like they've played together for years. Must be the KY connection.
-
I haven't seen him play recently enough to have an educated opinion but I do watch a lot of D2 basketball and there are some really good D2 players and teams out there but you shouldn't use Bellarmine as your only point of reference. It's like saying if you can't play at Duke or Uk that you can't play D1. The nice thing about D2 is they can give partial scholarships so a good student athlete can get some ball money and add it with some academic money and come up with a nice deal. I would highly recommend that over the D3 route. Unfortunately KY is not blessed with many D2 schools. Good luck to Tyler and I'm sure that if he wants to play in college a player with his connections can find a good fit.

NCC has had a REALLY nice pipeline of talent over the last few years - Geisler, Schulte, and McDonald all playing D1. Weyer going to a HIGH LEVEL D2 program.
With Weyer graduating after this season is it now or never for NCC as far as winning the 9th?
Pangollo is contributing at a pretty good D2 program also.

Toe to toe for 3 and a half quarters is a bit of a stretch. The Rebels went into the 4th quarter up 15. They outscored Gallatin 45-26 in the second half.
-
It is a boy girl double header.

Congrats! Quite an accomplishment.

Pretty soon we won't even be able to holler at the refs. The ole nuts and bolts chant will be replaced with "we beg to differ". Seriously this is pc run amuck and another phase in the softening of America. That said,I've seen student sections and some adults cross way over the line with chants, signs, banners etc...that create hostile environments that sometimes lead to bigger issues. I blame the school administrators for that.

Who was reffing?
-
They also lost to Ballard.
Yes and Ballard is ranked 7th. Both of their losses are to top 10 teams...still doesn't justify being ranked below 20.
-
He had 4-5 ridiculous dunks that game. Link below for Owen highlights.
-
Owen County is a top 20 team.
They defeated #5 Henry Clay earlier in the season. They also defeated South Laurel who is 9 spots ahead of them. They only lost to Trinity by 7. No way should they be at #38.
-
These are some of the worst I've seen in years.
-
Hope he finds a school where he will be happy. Too good not to be playing and getting his education paid.
-
According to the stats he played in 5 games with an average of 15 minutes in those games. LMU is a very good team. They redshirt a lot of players and I'd say playing time as a freshman is hard to earn.
-
I saw one LMU game early in the season and he didn't get in the game. Maybe he was disappointed with playing time and transferred but that's just a guess.

Has Elkins chosen a college?

Anyone who watched this game and has something negative to say about Jordan Perry is looking for something to be upset about. The kid is a stud. If not for him, it would have be 25+ beat down.
