Yep....That put Conner ahead 4-2. Possible double play was botched right before he came up that would have gotten Boone out of the inning. Boone did put some pressure on Conner with a lead off double, but couldn't plate anything in the bottom half.
-
You are correct on that one Papa. Have played them every year up to this one. Would have been good to play them.
Cooper didn't play Bellevue. -
That's Cool! So I'll state a fact that he did knock off 2 highly ranked teams in the state! We good! :thumb:
No bitterness, just simply stating a facts. Congrats to Cooper on a good year. -
There has been quite a bit of talent go through Cooper, but I wouldn't say this team was any less talented. I do think Coach Collins did a FANTASTIC job for a first year varsity coach and still a very young program. Rocky, no he didn't beat a district team when it counted. But, he did beat 2 highly ranked teams in the state. That has to hold some water. Don't quite understand the bitterness towards Coach Collins. 14-12 on the year first year, not too shabby.

Conner would be my biggest surprise. Ludlow, Bellevue, Boone and Cooper have also been a surprise also. I had originally thought the 33rd would have been down this year. Guess that's what I get for thinking, because looking at it now, I would say it's the toughest district 1 thru 4.
-
I truthfully don't think Ryle has underachieved. They had lost quite a few key players. The team that comes to mind for me that was also ranked high was NCC. Don't know if they lost the players Ryle lost.
-
I did forget about Conner Rocky, great call. I think Cooper was way over ranked to start the season. They did lose quite a few and that's why I had them on my list.
Im not sure I agree with cooper.Yes, they lost sseniors but they have one of the best pitchers in the area. Is it because they beat cov cath and dixie? When Dunn is on the mound they have a chance to beat anyone. Ithink Conner is more of a suprise than cooper. If i'm mistaken cooper were picked pre season top 10. -
I would say Ludlow, Bellevue and Cooper would be a few of mine.

These are some impressive numbers from the NKY boys. JMO...I would fall in line with launch8. Don't know about head and shoulders, but just from the numbers, positions they play, opponents mentioned and do you really want to face them factor in a first round or final. I'm sure there will be people blow the last comment up, but if they are on their game, which it seems they are most of the time; they would be someone a coach wouldn't be jumping for joy to see. I'm not saying they aren't beatable by any means just my input.

Truthfully I don't even know who won this last year or who even makes the decision? Anyone?
-
First off, thanks Jimmy and Hellbird for the pressure. Pick between 2 of my favs! T Ganns has been solid all year long from what I've heard and has put up great numbers. Basing it off that, I would probably lean towards T Ganns.
I will not take anything away from H Dunn though, he plays a tough position when not on the bump and has had a great season. Hitting he has a .492BA, .580 OB% and 12 XBH. Pitching he has 9 App, 4-3, 2.80 ERA. He did get the W against state ranked #5 Dixie and #6 CCH. In district play he BOMBED against Ryle but was tough against Conner 6INN, 0ER, 2H and Boone 5 2/3INN, 1ER, 4H.

Dixie has a GREAT TEAM! Anyone who thinks different, then maybe they should go look at their record.
-
I guess we'll have to wait to hear from the Old Big Cat on Dunn. He's been at meetings all day so he's missing out on the fun! I'm sure he'll chime in though.
If that's the case Mailbu, I totally agree. Just see and hear about him a lot.
-
Ganns is leading Boone with a .480 batting avg and had great starts against all 3 district teams which was a big part of going undefeated in district play. He had a nice win against Harrison County and topped it all off with a perfect game against Walton Verona.
That's what I'm talking about Juneball1. Good stuff!

Rocky...I don't really know, that's why I ask the question. Sounds to me at least the 4 I mentioned have some Gold Stars by their names based off what I've heard. Is this a problem finding out this information? Someone has to have something.
Who do you think should get it? -
Not getting to see much baseball this season, I would really like to know these guys body of work. It's easy to throw names out there, but I think this needs more substance. Like, what are their numbers? Who have they beat? ect.. From looking at threads on here, there could be cases for a handfull of players that could be up for honor. The names I see most frequent are Ganns, Dunn, Combs and King. That doesn't really mean anything, so it would be nice to have the above questions answered. JMO!

Aaaaand that's why I couldn't even comment Clyde!
No team goes 1 through 12. -
Don't really need to sleep on anything.
And I guess as far as the homer banter comment goes, I would say close to 75+% is what it is on this site and many others.
Sleep on it and get back to me Wednesday !BTW..I have no intention of hijacking a thread.
Just want to point out what I see is obvious homer banter !
Beechwood has 2 guys that are not regulars who have committed to play at the next level.
Just sayin !
-
Funny I just sat by him half the game tonight and didn't even get his name. His son is a very solid player. Doesn't looked phased at all being out there with the big boys.
Anyone know his dad's name? -
Hmmmmmm...........I don't even know how to respond to this comment.
HmmmmBeechwood has beaten the same 3 you mention in the last week.
Dixie may go 1-5. I have seen them.
Beechwood goes 1-12.
You obvouisly have not seen Beechwood yet ?
-
I'm with you on that Hellbird. ALL DAY LONG, I'd take those 3. Plus they all can hit. Those 3 rarely, if at all, get thrown a bone. SOLID!
-
Dunn didn't have his best, but that is not to take away from the Dixie hitters. They have some hitters without a doubt. Gutsy performance against a great team through 5. The Jags went to the bullpen and Alex "The Mad Hungarian" Simpson pitched a scoreless 6th and Collin Hawthorn came in and closed out a scoreless 7th. Cooper hit the ball very well.

Congrats T Ganns!!!
