Outstanding. I actually wrote a letter of recommendation for David. I've never met him but being around and seeing him up close made it obvious to me he is ready for the gig.
You wrote a letter of recomendation for someone you never met? Is that what you said??

Cal and Larry Brown watched the travelers final game Sat.
McDonald will be added to the 17u roster due to the injury to Jackson Davis.
Since it seems that the U16 & U 17 teams play at different locations on the weeklends, how could he be on both rosters?

Really??????????? I know you are referring to property taxes paying for school, but what about the fees for books, lab fees, sports participation and so on and so on. No "full scholarship" there.
Are not those same expenses charged at the private schools?
-
Maybe a place where you can sweep up for 10minutes a day to cover tuition?
I don't understand this obsession with kids receiving tuition assistance. To my knowkledge, "every stuednt" in the public school system is on "full scholarship".

Since this is our first year in Kentucky, we'd like to share our history so everyone can get to know us a little better.
Our first graduating class was the Class of 1991. Since that time, we've had over 200 college signees, over 100 Division I signees, and 24 SEC signees. This averages out to just over 9 scholarship players per graduating class.
We've had 5 NBA players - David Vaughn, Ron Mercer, Vincent Yarbrough, David Harrison, and Corey Brewer.
We've had 4 McDonald's All-Americans - Ron Mercer, Vincent Yarbrough, David Harrison, and Corey Brewer.
We've had over 20 players who have played professional basketball overseas and/or in the NBDL. In the 2012-2013 season, 13 former players were active in pro basketball.
We are one of the original 16 Nike Grassroots programs, and have been Nike-sponsored since 1995.
We have qualified for Peach Jam 11 times.
Three of our former players (Ron Mercer, Corey Brewer, Lee Humphrey) were starters on NCAA title teams.
How are the players for your team selected? Do they have to try out? I saw on another thread where a player from NewCath was on the younger team and was just wondering if there is a scouting system or how it works.

Has the 9th region produced any Division 1 basketball players in the last 20 years. I am sure they have but I can't recall any. Not div 2, not naia. D1 I am talking about receiving an actual 4 yr scholarship. Not walk ons.
Thanks:sssh:
I know Tom Freppon, a 1960 graduate of NCC and grandfather of Drew Mcdonnald played 4 years at Xavier. Oh wait, is that more than 20 years ago?

G1 is a "know-it-all"... -
I suspect that it will be single sessions Monday and Tuesday for the first round.
Split sessions on Friday night, and the championship game on Saturday night.
Where is the 10th Region being played this year?

Bueter is the NC's best player and should be in conversation for POY. Just "in the conversation". He does everything out there and aside from game high scoring last night does a ton of other things. Loose balls, blocked shots, and calming the team down. He is difficult to trap as well as he finds his way out of jams. Great High School Player. Should a player be penalized because he HAS talent around him? Last night it was all Beuter until HHS finally had to come out of the zone. Then some others got theirs.
On a side note, have to commend HHS crowd for their support. In the midst of a really bad season, they did show up and represent. I thought the crowd would thin out after the girls game. Other than a few grandparents and family, most stayed.
While NCC is a fairly balanced team, Michael is clearly displayes Senior leadership. He almost always comes up big at the end of games and will be very difficult to replace.

This was bound to happen after the last couple of weeks when they ran through the A tourney and outplayed and beat Holmes. These are kids and sometimes we forget that. NCC still won and that is a good thing for them. They will realize probably that you cannnot overlook anyone that has decent talent.
NCC's guard play on defense was poor and that is being kind. They were consistantly beat off the dribble especially Pangallo & Siebert. Ryle's guards penetrated the lane at will putting pressure on the bigs to try and defend. Maybe they were coasting a little but on ball pressure was poor.

We're going to be at CovCath tonight and thinking about the gym there, nothing has changed since I played there in the 80's. Who has the oldest gym now in NKY. I know NewCath is the same, Highlands & Bellevue too, but which gym is the oldest.
What do you like about them ........or dislike
Off the top of my head, I'm thinking Ludlow
-
For those NCC fans not familiar with Brossart's small parking lot, Just like on crowded games on the hill where you have to park in the Kmart lot. Brossart recommends you park in the Walmart lot and walk to the game. Get there early and see 2 very good JV teams go after each other. Should be an entertaining night of hoops. This is one game I refuse to try to predict a winner. 2 years ago Geisler and company came in to Brossarts court as heavy favorites and went home losers after a huge come from behind victory by Brossart. Last year after BBHS defeated NCC at the Lloyd invitational, Brossart traveled up on the hill and was blown out of the gym. Lots of family and friends will be rooting against each other for a few hours but will walk out on the court afterwards to say hello as their kids have gone to the same grade schools, same churches, played aau together and have mutual respect for each other. Good luck to both teams. I hope both teams stay healthy!
Well said TAC

Brossart played only one less game. The lag won't be that severe.
Mexitucky you seem to know both teams fairly well. So who do see as each sides leading scores in this contest?
-
The 5 Starters went out, 5 subs came in for several minutes and did well. The starter were back in at the end off the game.
The 5 staters were pulled to make a point. They were playing auwful. 5 games in 6 days can do that.
-
At the cracker box, anything is possible, especially w how good Brossart is this season. Going to be a great defensive game, I am predicting a 48-42 game.
I think prior to the All A State, this game would have been rated a toss up, especially at BBHS. But now I don't know. Looking at their respective scores vs Bardstown, it's hard not to consider the Breds a solid favorite.

While I hope you're right, NCC and Holmes are the two most talented teams up here and Covcath doesn't beat Newcath if Seibert plays the entire game. Just my opinion though.
Walter, in addition to the loss of Seibert, Pangallo went out for several critical minitues in the 4th qtr. with cramps. That in my opinion is when Cov Cath gained control.

A committee picks the players and the coaches have nothing to do with it. This is the way it should be
I always felt the most accurate method would be to have all of the mothers vote. That way it would insure an impartial outcome.

Final from Frankfort!!
This is a really nice win for the Stangs especially considering the margin of victory
NCC beat Russel in the Ashland Inv Tourney by 6 or so
-
They do. It's called the KHSAA state tournament. All A consists of about half of all schools.you have to be in the smallest 200 or so schools in order to be invited.
Actually I think it is the smallest 150 schools. Also since Ky is one of only 2 states ( i think) that still have a state wide state toutney, ( no classes ) it gives the smaller schools a reasonable shot at winning a state championship. I suppose you could call it a compromise.

Bob Knight has always been a terrible commentator. Probably because he is such a jerk.
In the UK game last week, he didn't know the difference between the game clock and the shot clock. Last night he kept saying "If Ole Miss can get a two point lead here ------" when they were leading by two already. His partner had to intervien.
-
Correct, BB, but it's also the coach's job to make sure big boy gets the ball. That's why he's the coach.
Could not agree more!!!
-
Campbell was posting hard last night...they just didn't get him the ball.
He needs to demand the ball!!
-
Couldn't be stopped.
I had him at 24, 12, and 5 blks.
Holy Cross just couldn't come up with baskets when they needed them late.
Campbell is a very nice player but he could be totally dominant. He doesn't work hare enough to get open and he doesn't demand the ball.

Does anyone have any updates on how they have been doing? There were some comments several weeks ago, but haven't heard anything since then.
