  1. Post # 19, C'mon man really? You would make your team watch other team celebrate? IN THE RAIN? Where you could go in, dry off, change of clothes, but yet make the team watch as they jump up and down, carry a female student on their shoulder, walked in the end zone as a team with yellow flowers and pray. You would make your team to do that? If so why? Motivation? Did you think LC rubbed it in BC face?

So I went back and read post 19. Where was the complaint? I see a statement of a fact that the coach made them watch, and yes it would be for motivation. Don't read things into a post that are not there. C'mon man really?

Coaches do many things to motivate their teams and I would not think twice about doing that or using it as motivation. I nor anyone in this thread has stated they think LC rubbed it in anyones face, those were words you entered into the conversation.

  2. What's lame about it? Sure Boyle Co has been dominating everyone they have played after Lex Cath. So your saying that Lex Catholic has not? You base your pick on that? Check out the scores that Lex Cath has put up since they played Boyle Co. Dominating as well. And as far as celebrating after they defeated Boyle Co, sure why not celebrate? They just beat their district rival, won district. So your saying if Boyle Co would have won that game, Rebels would have just walks off and into their bus? C'mon dude, of course they would have celebrated. Not to mention I think this was said before. A loved counselor at the school passed away 2 days prior to that game. She has a daughter that attends Lex Cath, so they decided that game ( win or lose ) that evening to wear and pass out yellow flowers, which was her favorite. And so happened that they won, the student body rush the field and CARRIED the daughter on their shoulders as a CELEBRATION of life. So if you think that they were rubbing it on the Rebels face, go ahead and think that. That game was important, but the life celebrated was more in their thoughts. Good luck KNIGHTS and REBELS.

Just curious where did anyone complain about the celebration? Did i miss that one? Seems he just pointed out that Coach Smith made them watch. Didn't see enough substance their for this reponse?

  3. Turkeyfoot's 8th grade is unfortunately the only team that has a chance to play with the HHS 8th grade. With the movement of the Conner girls, they just won't be able to hang with HHS (IMO), who actually beat them once last year with those 3 playing. If none of the Turkeyfoot girls are moved up, then they would be the next best team. However, HHS has never lost to them and beat them in the tournament last year with one of HHS' two best players out with an injury. The other really good player got in foul trouble early also in that game and I believe they still ended up winning by about 9-10. The other factor with the HHS 8th grade team is they only had 7 players come out for the team. The 7 they have are very strong. In the past, their coach has done a great job playing everyone in just about every game (6th grade they had 13 players and in the 7th they had 11). That means their best players didn't always play a lot of the game and many times their top 6-7 were split up and not played together. This year, there are only 7 players. So the options of not playing the top players or even any of the 7 together go away now.

Taking that into consideration and the fact that several 8th graders from all the other schools have moved up, I think I'm going to invest in a book club.

Check your info, Turkeyfoot has moved players up. I believe Conner played them this weekend at Tichenor and handled them pretty well from what I hear. I think everyone may be underestimating the balance of that Conner team.

  4. That is incorrect!!! I know a middle school girl playing up on Freshman in a Boone County High School!!! Get your story straight before you post it.

I do not have a dog in this fight but since you have challenged someone to "get your story straight" prior to posting, I thought I would share the Boone County rule with you. Below is what I actually cut and paste from the Boone County Schools website:

"Middle school students may participate in high school volleyball and basketball as follows:

    1. A middle school student may be elevated to a high school athletic team under the following conditions:

    a. S/he must compete on the varsity level; and

    b. S/he must be a “starter” or have significant playing time."

You may want to retract your statement to cheezy, if there is a freshman playing at Boone County there may have been an exception made based on numbers through the board. As for the rule, it clearly states what cheezy implies.

  5. I think she was talking about the series where there were bad officiating that led to a Conner TD.

The biggest play and official decision wasn't even a penalty, it was just horrible officiating. The 4th down play where Conner threw a bomb that was knocked to the ground by a Cooper defenseman and bounced to the Conner we who was laying in the ground and the official called it

A catch and then later on that same drive on 4th down when Cooper made a tackle to keep Conner short of the first down marker out of bounds and the ref threw a late hit penalty.

I think that is what she was talking about.

Fair enough, the catch you were speaking of was truly a catch it happened right in front of me and the ball never hit the ground.

  6. Conner was very good last night, well coached and physical. I think the bad officiating hurt them even though the calls went their way because it energized the Cooper fans and motivated the Jags on the field. Cooper's D was solid on those last two drives. Can't wait till they are full strength again!

Might want to do some research before making this statement...

    Penalty Count

    7/60 yds Cooper

    14/130 yds Conner

  7. With that logic alone, the YUM! and Rupp would be no-brainers, and Louisville and Lexington would have been regularly hosting the event. But we have not seen that happening. I have wondered for the past few years if and when the BOK/NKU would make a run at this event, and now we it has come to fruition. The schools and teams in northern Kentucky are strong and have good traditions, but I've not noticed much interest or support from northern Kentucky regarding the happenings around the state in girl's basketball. On some other older threads, the lack of interest by northern Kentucky kids in recent years to participate has been noted, so we'll see if the fan turn-out counters that pattern. It will be a much shorter drive for many eastern Kentucky schools.

It's actually economic competition that is driving this, and we'll see how it goes. I cannot help but think that BG/WKU will come to wish for a "do-over," that they will regret the loss of this economic cash cow for the entire community. Historically, forward-thinking civic leaders have succeeded in "landing" the railroads, or building bridges, or constructing the interstate highways in order to boost their communities. NKU has done just that at WKU's expense.

The only two to bid on this Girls S16 were NKU & WKU. So its not like they elected NKU over LEX or LOU. Personally I wouldn't mind it being in Frankfort.

  8. In all honesty' date=' Coach Feldman has not won when it really counted. He got beat in the All 'A' Regional his first year by a much weaker St. Patrick team and then preceded to lose big time to NCC the next two years in the All 'A' State tournament and then lost to a much smaller and less talented team in Danville this year in the All 'A'. And I believe in the four years at Brossart, this was the only year he won the district and then with a ton of talent, lost to Mason Co. in the first round of the regional. He may have won a bunch of regular season games but the games that really counted he was woefully short on. This team of seniors never experienced the success that they were touted to have way back when they were freshmen. In my opinion, Coach Feldman never reached the pinnacle of what I would consider coaching respect and success. But thinking the AD at Brossart will keep him because he's afraid of not being able to find anyone who might be a quality coach to replace him. Maybe its the AD that should go with the coach![/quote']

That smaller less talented Danville team made it to the all a final by beating NCC who beat Brossart. So are they really that much less talented?

  9. They were both in the wrong, IMO, but I don't think we can expect too much from the common fan. I just think as major college athletes they need to be expecting that kind of thing, and learn to walk away from it.

How can you say Aaron was in the wrong? How can we know from these pictures who is in the wrong? How do we know this fan wasn't in his way to get to the lockerroom? Until I see video and audio the only person wrong here is the fan who clearly was in an area he shouldn't be.

  10. After seeing this, Mr. Fant go buy yourself a new suit for the awards ceremony.

    Sorry Drew.

Lets get all the stats up!

    Simon Kenton 27-44 344yds 4 td 53 yards rushing 1 td

    South Oldham 24- 41 271 yds 2 td 65 yards rushing 1 td

Cov Cath 7-18 55 yds 0 td 40 Yds rushing

    Anderson 6-23 123 yards 2 td 116 yard rushing

  11. Having seen both squads, it's a 4 score win for Conner....E A S Y.

You only have to contain one kid on the AC offense and their D was soft. Barker and friends will chew them up and spit them out. The ONLY way AC is in this game is if Barker should suffer an injury, like what happened with Ludwig on Friday night.

As a Conner supporter I do not think a 4 touchdown blowout will happen. It appears to me that Anderson is a solid squad. Anderson beat South Oldham handily a team that beat Conner and beat Montgomery County by 28 the team Conner just barely beat. I think Conner can win but I think this game will be very close and be determined by who make the least mistakes.
