Pikeville ahead of Cov Holy Cross is interesting. I’d flip flop those two at the top since HC just beat them H2H.

    Thanks "Nut".

I was disappointed to see the Holy Cross "team" picture in the "Enquirer" and you and Coach Trame weren't in there.  You guys did so much to cover the Girls' run through the 9th All A (all but one game, I believe), and then down to Corbin for those games, but they couldn't get you guys in the photo!?  Miss on their part, "Nut", you guys do a GREAT job for that program.

Thanks for all you do to add exposure to girls' basketball throughout the area.

I really appreciate the kind words DD and Rjal. It’s all been about the kids though I’m just a small part of the program who loves Holy Cross and our kids! Our radio show has been a huge success over the years but it’s easy to do when you love doing it and you build up an awesome fan base over the years! I truly appreciate the kind words!

Good morning NKY Girls' Basketball fans!  We had a terrific week of basketball around NKY, and in a few cases, it was teams in defeat that showed an awful lot about what they could be capable of.  Holy Cross losing by 2 at GRC (KY #2) was very impressive, doubly so when you decipher some of the "oddities" of the game management.  Ryle played Cooper on Friday night right to the end, and doing so without the future Penguin, Sarah Baker, in the 2nd half.  Simon Kenton had Notre Dame on the ropes in Park Hills before a late Panda flurry turned the game in the last minute.

I contemplated flipping NDA and HC this week, but as the schedule gods' would have it, they'll settle it on the court in Park Hills on Wednesday.  I've said all year I think NDA wins this game, but HC is undoubtedly playing better right now, plus you add in the rivalry layer, and the former coach leading the home team, well, you get the picture, it will be GREAT.  Pack the stands for the young ladies.   Alas, the only movement this week is replacing WV at #10 with red-hot Conner (winners of 6 of 7), who, coincidentally, also has a head-to-win over WV anyway.  Here is this week's top 10, and others, along with their opponents for this week!  Bundle up!!

    1.  Cooper  16-3 (2-0 last week):  vs Boone County and vs McCracken County at Mercy (Great Game)

    2.  Notre Dame 14-3 (2-1):  vs Holy Cross (Wednesday night in Park Hills!) and vs Henry Clay

    3.  Holy Cross 12-5 (1-1):  at Notre Dame, at Campbell County (sneaky good game), and at Beechwood

    4.  Ryle 10-7 (0-2):  at Conner (really interesting one!!!) and vs Southwestern at Mercy

    5.  Highlands 10-5 (2-0):  vs Dayton and vs NewCath

    6.  Simon Kenton 12-5 (2-1):  at St. Henry and vs Williamstown (not sure this one will happen)

    7.  Grant County 11-4 (1-0):  vs Conner (really good game!) and at Walton Verona (also a good one!)

    8.  Campbell County 12-4 (1-1):  vs Lloyd, vs Holy Cross, and vs Oldham County

    9.  Bishop Brossart 11-3 (off):  at Boone County and vs Lloyd

    10. Conner 8-10 (2-1):  at Grant County and vs Ryle

    ==========================

    8th:  Walton Verona 11-7

    9th:  NewCath 11-5, Bellevue 11-4, St. Henry 7-7

    10th:  Scott 11-6

Have a great week, stay warm, and get out and enjoy some of the great games around the area this week!

Well DD - it looks like my Indians get round 1 vs Notre Dame last night 39-30 in Park Hills. They need to avoid a let down tonight when they travel to Campbell Co. That should be a good game.

  4. I’ll be going down to broadcast for Holy Cross. I’d be shocked if there were no outlets for us to use. Now getting good internet service/hardwire that is another question. I saw the media sheet for Corbin Arena where it said no outlets but they have to have them in my opinion.

  5. Final from Bellevue and the 9th Region All “A” Classic.

Holy Cross (10-4) advances to the semi finals on Friday where they will take on the Beechwood Tigers.

    St Henry 7 18 6 9 - 40

    Holy Cross 12 24 18 9 - 63

    Scoring -

    Holy Cross (10-4) - Arlinghaus 15, Crail 12, Rominger 10 (11 Rebs), McElheney 9 (9 Rebs), Goetz 8, Reinersman 5, Adams 4.

    St. Henry (5-10) - A. Reis 13, B. Shea 12, Kunstek 8, J. Reis 5, C. Shea 2.

I actually expected a little more than I saw last night, although Dixie is well coached, and has girls that play hard and tough, Notre Dame "let" Dixie close the gap a little at the end and that surprised me.  I still love the team, and the pieces, and I think Kes (and Holthaus) is the best in-game coach in the area, but I expected to see more improvement from early in the year that I ended up seeing last night.

I still think they win the 35th and beat Holy Cross twice in doing so (regular season and district tourney), but I don't think they can push Cooper as much as I did originally...but we'll get a good first course of that on February 3rd in Park Hills.

We will see what happens next week when Holy Cross goes to Notre Dame. I think Holy Cross wins but these games have always been tough battles the last few years. I really like this Holy Cross team and will like it even more when when D'Myah Williams finally returns to action. I also think the Indians have played a much tougher schedule thus far than what Notre Dame has. Now whether or not that pays off next week or the rest of the season remains to be seen. Holy Cross goes to GRC next week prior to playing ND. Both Holy Cross and ND teams are very good teams.
