  1. Those back-to-back losses by Lindsey to finish out October were awfully costly. They went from No. 1 to sneaking in at 13.

They sure were. Lindsey's 26-21 loss to CU was a killer. They held All-world NAIA passer Jacob Russell down that game. Likely his lowest output of the season.

Lindsey is down a bit this year offensively but has one of the best defenses in the MidSouth Conference.

The future is bright at Lindsey as they are now able to redshirt kids that a couple of years ago would have played as true freshman.

I expect them to contend for national titles every year going forward.

  2. Please educate me. Why did the coaching staff pull Towles in the game? What purpose did it serve? Was it to protect Towles from suffering an injury late in a game that was no longer in doubt? Was it to give the coaching staff the opportunity to see how Barker would perform in a real game, in order to help determine who the starting QB should be going forward in the season? If Barker would have come out and played outstanding would he have played his way into the starting lineup next week, or is the starting spot Towles' no matter what at this point? What was the reasoning behind the benching?

To keep him from taking any more unnecessary hits, plain and simple... and to give Barker some needed reps so he could judge the speed of the game.

There is no QB controversy at UK.

  3. Defense is bad. Towles too inconsistent and was glad to see

    Barker finally got some

College reps. The offense is bad and it goes straight to two things, the O Line is horrible and the receivers can't hang on to a ball.

Tenn should win by 750 points this UK team is that bad. I'd start Barker just for the heck if it. Can't be any worse.

Unless Towles is injured there is zero chance that Barker starts.

What makes you think the receivers will magically start catching balls if Barker is the one throwing them?

The backup QB gets more love than anyone.

  4. Great job Blue Raiders! Checking in on a couple Bluebirds on the squad. How are Lou Bunning and DJ Mills doing?

Bunning made the travel squad as a true freshman (one of only a handful of true frosh to do so) but has not yet played. He's been # 2 on the depth chart at left tackle all season but hopes to keep his redshirt.

Mills has missed some time with some nagging injuries. Mills should also redshirt.

  5. This knocked UK out of a bowl game. Barker needs a shot. this team has nothing to lose.

What are you smoking?? UK is 2-1 with a road win in conference. After we win the next 2 games we'll be 4-1 and the ship will be righted.

One game doesn't make or break the season.

What a fickle bunch... One loss and no bowl game???

  6. Agree that Georgetown outplayed Lindsey this week but an ugly win is still a win.

Lindsey is only in its 6th year of football and Coach Oliver and his coaches have done an unbelievable job at recruiting and getting the team ready to play at the highest level.

They are ranked #3 in the national NAIA poll this week.

It was good to see so many NKy players dressing for this game on both teams.

  7. I saw both him and Towles play in high school as well. Both were very impressive. The fact that Towles hasn't locked it up yet does say something. It's either Towles play is still inconsistent or Barker has stepped up his play to where they have made it tough on the coaches. Because you would have thought Towles would have easily locked it up by now.

IMO Towles does have it locked up. At the end of spring practice UK only had 2 scholarship QBs on the roster (Reece Phillips is now back from injury) so Coach Stoops didn't want to name a starter to make sure Barker didn't get an inkling to transfer because he wasn't playing.

Towles will be the starter and show vast improvement as the O Line now has a 3 deep on the depth chart and there is now a TE presence from Cleveland who I understand will get reps as a true frosh.
