  1. I agree, people who are middle and lower class that continue to vote for Republicans on soical issues that they do nothing about will continue to be fleeced.

Let's review: conservatives want to see everyone's tax rates lowered. (which produces more revenue to the gov't.)

Yup, sounds like a "fleecing" to me....

  2. Don't you think that Beechwood expects to win the state championship every year?

I do. It does not matter what year it is .. Beechwood expects to win every year. (I am not sure how that is relevant versus the fact that Mayfield is the over-whelming favorite in 2010).

That also doesn't change the fact that Mayfield has nearly their entire team coming back.

And at this point--it would be extremely difficult to find any logic that could refute the fact that they are overwhelming favorites based on their returning players.

The bulls eye is squarely on Mayfield's back -- they have the most returning players coming back ... and the players that they have are pretty freaking good.

They have rightfully earned the honor of pre-season number 1.

    Well said, QS.

  3. I wouldn't consider it a theme song, but my favorite juxtaposition of music and cinema has to be the opening scene of "Apocolypse Now" with "The End" by The Doors playing.

    Good one.

Along those lines, the beginning of The Watchmen, with various scenes passing as Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'"

  4. I find it inexcusable that 4 people charged with upholding the Constitution of the United States voted against this.

Not that it is a surprise but these are the four who voted not to support the constitution. Justice Stephen Breyer, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor

Just out of curiosity, who appointed them, & what party were their appointers from?

  5. Here are the lyrics to "You've got to be carefully taught"

    You've got to be taught

    To hate and fear,

    You've got to be taught

    From year to year,

    It's got to be drummed

    In your dear little ear

You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid

Of people whose eyes are oddly made,

And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,

You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,

Before you are six or seven or eight,

To hate all the people your relatives hate,

You've got to be carefully taught!

  6. Here's one that most would not think of: the musical South Pacific

Frenchman De Becque marries & has children with a Polynesian woman.

When the musical debuted in 1949, people walked out of the theatre because of this.

The crucial song that addresses the issue is "You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught"

South Pacific received scrutiny for its commentary regarding relationships between different races and ethnic groups. In particular, "You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught" was subject to widespread criticism, judged by some to be too controversial or downright inappropriate for the musical stage.[1] Sung by the character Lieutenant Cable, the song is preceded by a lyric saying racism is "not born in you! It happens after you’re born..."
