  1. Kystalker... Very clever!! Trust me it is not your fashion sense as it is not my style. I could have spent the entire season responding to each of your posts because so many of them are sarcastic and negative but chose not to engage. I would not have responded now but you cannot stop throwing out innuendos and negative comments. Talk about obsessive!!! It seems to me you have made it your life's work to run down the Ryle coaches and you want to throw out ethics. What if someone at your job watched your every move, every word was analyzed and debated, every look and gesture scrutinized. How would you come out? You want to set yourself up as the moral authority but will not consider anyone's opinion if it differs from yours. You pounce on anyone who dares to disagree. To the causal observer reading your posts it appears you have an agenda and if noone challenges your opinion then it appears everything you say is true. I do not agree with you. I stated my observations of you at the games to demonstrate that there can be perceptions of your behavior that can appear less than favorable. It does not feel good to have some criticizing your every action does it? I am not going to continue to debate with you who is right or wrong. I am simply pointing out that there is another side to your posts. One last item: the next time I see you I will let you know who I am. tjentiresras
  2. Guilty as charged and should I look at other posters I beat I would find a trend in their posts including yours I rarely post,as I said in an earlier post but tend to give an overall summation to make a point that there are people who like and respect Patti and Steve. QUOTE=History;4379982]Just an observation.....looked at all of kyshooters posts since they (he/she) have been members, and every one of them is in defense of the Ryle coaches.....just sayin'...
  3. Lawnboy no steam. I rarely post but yes I do come on here to support my friends because it is very unfair for people to post anything they want whether it is the truth or not. There are always two sides but some people think if they tell their side enough times it becomes fact. There is a whole other group of folks that never post on here but do not agree with things being written.
  4. I do not know her exact birthday but know she turned 17 before Jan 1 which makes her too old for 16U
  5. Unfortuantely coaches cannot come on here and express their feelings or tell their side of the story so people keep coming on here and turning every thread around to be sure and include some insults to Patti and Steve. People have even included their daughter in their critism. I do not image that would sit well if the tables were turned and your daughters were the ones under attack. SoftballFan14 I have a few questions/comments. You have certainly shared your opinions enough. At the District tournament during the game between Conner and Boone you wore a Boone shirt and sat with the Boone parents rather than the Ryle team, at the Regional tournament you were the only parent that did not come down on the field and congratulate the players and at the State tournament I overheard you tell your daughter " You will do what I tell you to do". After the Regional tournament you came on here mad because your daughter did not make the All-Tournament team; which of the four Ryle players did you think should not be on the team? Which one would you take away their honor? High school sports are all about kids learning to be team players and team players share the success of the team. You do not want to give Patti or Steve any credit for the sucess of Ryle but I do not know many coaches that could take a team and have only one starter playing the same position, put kids in positions they have never played, and coach them up to the state tournament. Yes, you have some folks on here that buy in to all your comments but I do not think you realize that your comments and actions only make you look bad to the rest of us that have observed this season. I can tell you from experience that if you have the same attitude with college coaches that may recruit your daughter you will hurt her chances for a scholarship. They do not want the drama. You go on your facebook and talk about burning bridges and only sorry two people are not on it when it burns ; why don't you build a bridge and get over it!!
  6. [i am a friend of both Patti and Steve and you should not speculate on something that you do not know. Fact, McKell did not try out for the Sluggers in the fall but was invited to play in May; long after the summer team was called off. For McKell to play on the KY Aces this summer the team would have to move up to the 18U class. McKell's playing for the Louisville Lady Sluggers 18U gold team had nothing to do with the decision. People are misinterpreting the use of "marquee" player on summer team ball. If a team has a player that is being scouted by college teams this player will bring out the college coaches to watch this team which creates opportunities for the other players to be noticed. That is the purpose of travel ball and the reasons there are all these exposure tournaments. The KY Aces was formed to keep the Ryle girls softball team together in the summer but when there are players who do not want to play with their high school team in the summer it kind of defeats the purpose of having the team. It takes several years to build a travel team. If the purpose is getting the girls noticed for college opportunities you want to field the best team. It is a compliment to call a player a marquee player. But it takes a team QUOTE=Porky;4379490]I would think that the coaches already knew they were going to shut it down since their daughter is playing for the Sluggers. Didn't the Sluggers have their tryouts last fall as all travel teams do? Seems like they were using the marque player and her parents as an out for them and their daughter. Just my thoughts. Anyway, that marque player is probably better off playing travel ball with a true travel team IMO. I am sure they will play in more competitive tournaments and showcase tournaments, and if she wants to play at the next level I am sure there will be more college coaches at those tournaments.
  7. Poor shot selection, failure to follow game plan, poor defense, failure to step up in the big game, outside player drama which causes distractions and lack of focus. It happens. It happens to the best of teams at the high school, college and professional levels and has nothing to do with the coach. D-1 potential does not always equate to success.
  8. Nell has had 26 years to build her program while Patti has been in place for only 4 years. No offense to any previous coaches that Ryle had before but Ryle did not have a winning tradition in basketball before Oliverio took over and she has done it while playing a much more difficult schedule. Ryle had players before that had talent but did not get the same exposure to D-1 coaches.Something else Patti has done for her players is to use her contacts with college coaches to promote her players. She has taken the Ryle players to some of the top Women's college programs summer camps (UT, UK, Lousiville, Xavier, UC), she has scheduled games with Lexington and Louisville teams and has taken Ryle to tournaments where there would be both college recruiters and AAU recruiters so these young ladies would have the best chance to gain notice and have opportunities for scholarships. College recruiters respect Coach Oliverio and her program and she works relentlessly to help the young ladies she coaches both in softball and basketball to obtain scholarships. Noone cares more or works harder for her players or receives less credit. It is such a shame that "current Ryle parents" cannot show loyalty to this coach and what she has done for their daughters. Coach O is in a no win situation. When the team wins it because of talent and when they lose it is because of the "poor coaching". Talent is only the capacity to succeed it is not a guarantee for success. It is up to each player to take the talent and potential she has and compete. It takes heart to be a winner and step up in the big games. Talent alone will not get it done and as long as you blame the officials or the coach for your loses noone learns accountability or responsibility. Best wishes to Abby at the next level. I know Coach Oliverio thinks the world of you and recognizes how much you have given to the Ryle program. Playing for her the last 4 years has prepared you more than you know to succeed at Wright State.
  9. Wow it did not take long for the Oliverio haters to get on line and blame her for the loss. How professional is it for a softball umpire to get on line and blast a coach? Everytime Ryle has lost this year the same posters get on line and make snide remarks about the coach. Talent does not always win especially when the shots are not dropping.. I doubt Pat Summitt could have won against a team shooting 65% against her. It usally a sign of good coaching when a team can come back from being down by a large margin to make a game of it in the last quarter. All the other coaches with the exception of Nell get a pass on these forums. I can remember when Nell first started and for several years afterwards parents wanted her fired. But she had the support of administration and 600+ wins later she is considered the best. Does it have anything to do with posters that are jealous, sexist, or misogynist? It is hard to believe that a coach who goes 23-7 is criticized to the level that happens here. It seems personal to me.
  10. I literally and figuratively have sat on my hands all year until the end of this rivalry to speak out regarding some of the negative comments that I have read this season. First, I have known both Nell and Patti since their days at EKU and like to keep up with their careers. Second, I do not currently live in Northern KY, Third, I do not have children that have played for either school and Fourth, I am a former female athlete who has coached, trained, managed and directed hundreds of young people through the years. I provide this information in order to demonstrate that I do have the credentials to support my opinions. I can tell you that I would be pleased to have Patti Oliverio coach my children in any sport she coaches. I know that any young lady involved in her program will be well coached, will be expected to work hard, be disciplined and upon graduation be better prepared to play at the next level. Patti is well respected within the coaching ranks at both the high school and college level; at least outside of her own region. She has excellent contacts with major D1 schools and knows how to work for scholarships. She also amassed an outstanding record as a softball coach when she was at Boone County; 6 regional championships and three final fours in 14 years. This record has also been down played on this board as being meaningless as a basketball coach. Winners know how to coach and I bet if she coached volleyball she would have them playing for championships. I went to the Boone County High School website to see just what her record was at Boone County but on the championship page none of the girl’s softball championships are listed. However, girl’s basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, track, soccer, and tennis championships are listed. A glaring oversight, maybe? In Ryle's basketball history the best record the team ever had was 13-13; winning only seventy something games in 9 years. The year before Oliverio took over the reins the team was 9-20. The next year basically the same team was 21-7. Within three years Ryle has won 61 games and played in the regional finals for the first time ever going from ranking 149th in the state to 18th in the state. This year's schedule included games with 6 of the 16 regional champions. Most schools and fans in the country that had this turn around would believe their coach deserved coach of the year. I have been amazed all year at the negativity and lack of support on this board even within the Lady Raider family. Every game, every decision, every defensive set, every offensive play that has been played has been second guessed, criticized, and analyzed. She has received very little credit. It is truly shameful. Unless you have ever coached young women you cannot begin to understand how difficult this job can be. Girls are emotional and a fight with their boyfriend or BFF can totally ruin their game. Girls are also "daddy's little princess" who can be very spoiled. Men you just do not get it; despite the best game plan and the best coaching games can be won or lost based on who is mad at whom. Nell and Patti are both fine women and excellent coaches who deserve all the accolades, support and respect that can be given. Players, parents, fans, and administration be honored and proud to have these women as your coach. Parents be careful of the comments you voice to your daughters or write on this board. If you do not show respect to the coaches neither will your daughters.
