Walton vs. Simon Kenton. It should be some really competitive games. McNeil, Hargett, Moeves, Kinmon, Helton vs. Chambers, Sampson, Ayres, Barnes. Hopefully lots of points and a nail bitter.
-
I agree with you. However, if Jalen stayed at GC, that short high school athletic career you mentioned would of been cut by about a year. Jalen also sees his friends about as much as he did before so there isn't to much of a change folks.
I think we all agree that we want what is best for the student and athlete. In his case, he gains academically and athletically.
It sounds like if you read between the lines....that Hick's wasn't going to let him play when he came back to GC. I'm guessing but his senior year came down to choosing between his friends at GC or playing basketball somewhere else.
-
McNeil and Hargett from Walton are very good.
-
:idunno::laugh: Yeah, I heard that Kinmon started at Walton this year and when he went back to Grant he just couldn't cope with the large class size and went back to Walton. :laugh:Obvious to most, my post was a response to the post below and had nothing to do with Kinmon.
"hummm Just wondering how WV gets all these players. It would be interesting to see how many of their team has been enrolled there since the Elememtary years."
-
I'd say that Owen does. Williams 6'8", Williams (brother) 6'4", Shelton 6'5'....tall team.Much appreciated. Does WV have the overall height advantage in the 8th? -
There is no doubt that Walton’s academic ranking and small class size are attractive to both students and parents. To infer anything else is just silly.
-
He is still one of the best in the region. Who else does WV have this year?
McNeil returns with Hargett (6'5") foward (return starter), Tanner Moeves guard (return starter), Daniel Helton (6'5') forward, Cole Moser (6'6") center....and if Kinmon can get eligible he will give depth to the guard position.
-
Walton has a senior forward Hargett. Very athletic. Also a 6'5" forward Helton is a transfer from Calvary Christian. Helton was probably Calvary's best player coming back next year.

Teams:

2. North Oldham - 2 top ten players
3. Collins - 1 top ten player
4. Owen Co - 2 top ten players
5. Walton-Verona - 0 top ten players
6. Simon Kenton - 1 top ten player
7. Henry Co - 0 top ten players
8. Gallatin Co - 2 top ten players
9. South Oldham - 0 top ten players

Can someone post the player rankings for the 8th?

Who are the strong offensive threats at Grant?

Turner is good and will play freshman maybe JV. The Robinson kid will play varsity this year and contribute. 6' 4" ( still growing) point guards don't come around often in N. KY. SK will be alright at the guard position in the upcoming years.Saw the Turner kid entering SK play in middle school and some this summer against older kids. When he is on, he is as good an incoming Freshman as I have seen. He has an all-around game. I saw several coaches talking to him after all most every U19 game at SOAS in Florence this summer. He really excelled when he was playing a scoring point guard for the U19 team. Not only could he score from anywhere on the court, but made his teamates much better. -
I believe he just missed his friends. Leaving Grant as a senior is tough to do. He would have really given Walton some quality depth at the guard position.
-
I believe their football season was extended that season past Halloween due to an explosion at the school. But my point was that they had multiple sport athletes on that team.
-
Simon Kenton's 1981 team had 4 of the 7 play football that year. Their basketball season got off to a slow start....but it's how you finish the season, not how you start it.

Mcneil Quit. Coach Was told he spending to much time away from his girlfriend on the weekend. . Also was told he was getting burn out from playing alot. and other issue.

Crons-Ponzer 15U team finished as the runner-up in Division III at the Dayton Metro Tournament. Played some very physical and athletic teams this weekend and got better each game.

The Final shot was a block. The officials were not bad. They got some numbers wrong but did go back and fix them. I would take those officials over a lot of the 8th region officials. Good game to watch by both teams.
They did go back and fix the technical but the charging call was giving to the wrong number. McNeil charged (#22) and they gave it to Moeves (#3). It did not affect the game ....... but I've not seen that happen all season long. The officiating wasn't bad however.... good ref's don't mixup numbers.
-
Unfortunately they did not wave off Rowans tech. Should have too but the main point is how poorly this game was officiated for both teams.
Wrong players charged, got numbers backwards etc. Just ref work 101 stuff that was messed up for both teams all night long.
Inexcusable at this level.
Agree with Mustang Nation. Hand checks all nite by both teams. Rowan was getting bodied hard all nite (no calls). Walton was getting to the rim and bodied all nite (no calls toward the end of the game). Same ref called a charge and a technical to Walton and got the number of the player wrong. McNeil charged and the ref charged the foul to Moeves. Brockman and Rowan were called for double technical fouls and Moeves was charged with Walton's technical. The ball was almost thrown inbounds when the ref's changed the technical to Brockman. Wow!!!
Does anybody know what region the ref's were from????

Walton’s aggressive style of play all night was impressive. They played solid defense, they took care of the ball, and shared the ball well. Great game tonight ladies!

Walton has the potential to be very good. They have strong guard play in McNeil, Moeves and Kinmon to go along with strong forward play in Hargett and Helton. Everyone can hit shots and take the ball the hole. This should be one of the better Walton teams since the 2004 team.
