Fair enough.
In your opinion, does the move have anything to do with athletics?
No, I do not.
-
You asked what I thought was a straight forward question so I gave you a straight forward answer. Now I see you are playing a game of semantics. So, to indulge you, I will put the question to the masses.
Everyone, in your opinion, is the possible move of the Moeves boys motivated at least in part by athletics?
I do not believe it's a question of semantics. It's a question of reality. I would hope that the KHSAA would have the common sense to listen to the family opposed to the speculation of a community.
-
Because the rule says it can't be for athletic purposes.
What part of my statement says they are doing it for "athletic" purposes.

We are high school sports fans, this is what we do. I do not want to come across like a jerk but simply put, if someone doesn't approve of our interest that is their opinion and they are free to to avoid BGP.
With that said, I am all for them doing what is best for their family, I hope it works out for them, and I hope they don't run into any roadblocks with the KHSAA.
Interest noted.
Perhaps you can enlighten me. If the family has the desire, financial means, and opportunity to move to a community they desire and fund the education they desire for their children why would the KHSAA prevent then from playing basketball?
-
Personally, I do not understand the fasanation with speculating on what their decision will be and why they made it. They have the right to do what they believe is best for their family, just as the new coach at WV does, period.
Manage your own lives and allow them to do the same.

At least the government is protecting some of our rights to choose.

You are right Just Jim, it is over the top! When parents shop their kids to other programs thru AAu coaches etc becuase they do not feel that johnny or jimmy is getting a fair deal! Over the top! They are not getting enough exposure at the school they are at and what to move to another program that is having success! Over the top! Coach wont listen to every thing parents tell him and they run him off! over the top! Coaches should get together and tell some of these parents to just keep your sons and daughters where they are! We already have enough headaches of our own!
Wow, sounds like you need to start an entire new thread on the subject or perhaps your just using this family to vent?

I don't believe Walton's record this year was a determining factor. Trame didn't resign because they were 9-21.
What insight do you have into why he did?
-
Did the WV coach step down because of the parents?

13 missed FT's I thought I read for SK
They were 11 for 22

Thread from the 7th grade team in 08-09.
Parents filling kids heads and hurting the team overall.
I believe every program gets excited about groups of kids that have success at any age level. Not sure how getting excited and supporting their efforts and love for the game hurts the team. It does create expectations, but expectations are part of life and I believe every parent expects their kid to give their best effort for the team.
It can be challenging at a small school to replace talent. The fact that 3 of the 5 starters on that 7th grade team have left the program is having an impact on the program.
-
I am not implying at all that this year's team did not play hard. They did. But you play hard no matter your feelings because of your love of the game, your school, your teammates, your pride, etc. I'd say the kids who left and are now rumored to be leaving are the ones who didn't/can't deal with it. It is very easy to blame a coach because your kid isn't playing or is getting yelled at or disciplined. And I for one am tired of disgruntled parents who absolutely nothing having an impact on the way coaches run their program. This is by far an isolated incident a Walton, but it really hits a nerve because of my admiration for Coach Trame.
I have the same admiration and respect for Dan. I believe players play hard for coaches as well. Unless your Dan or part of the WV administration or perhaps a WV basketball parent or one of the players then its pure speculation. I could be wrong, but I cant imagine Dan stepping down because of parental pressures at WV or any other school for that matter. All coaches face such pressures in nearly every program. If Dan decided to step down, its because he thought it was the correct thing to do.

Coach Trame demands hard work and holds kids accountable. Unfortunately, some parents and players cannot deal with that. It's the "everyone deserves a trophy" mentality. You can be a coach, go to a school and do things the "right" way and wear out your welcome in 4-5 years and have a lot of success. Along the way you will hurt some feelings and upset a parent it two. Or, you can hover around mediocrity, be a "yes" man, never take a stance, and keep your job for 10, 15, 20 years. Reflection of our society and it is pathetic.
Not sure there is only one "right" way to coach. What players did not deal with it? Did any players quit on coach Trame during the season? Who said the players did not work hard? They appeared to play hard for coach Trame til the end considering they lost to SK by 6 in the district after losing to them by 30+ twice this year.
Perhaps you have insight into the program that others do not or perhaps your just guessing.
-
I greatly admire and respect Dan Trame as a man, educator, and coach. I certainly would not want his job. I may not always agree with him but I certainly respect him and his abilities.
If Dan made the decision to step down, then you can bet he had good reason to do so and it was what he thought was best. Speculating on why he did is disrespectful to Dan, Walton Verona, and the players. I’ve never known any Trame to back down from a challenge of any kind.

Tyler is a proven scorer and one of the top in the 8th region. Saw the game. Not sure WV focused on him as they played Carr man.
"scratches and claw marks on his back.stomach and arms lead me to believe there was more than just good defense." Really? Dougherty was called for 1 foul all night and I certaninly did not see any such activity.
I do agree that GC has and used their other options, they played and shot very well.

Neither player has academic issues.

Congratulations on a nice weekend U16 Kentucky Rush. Way to wrap up the season.
Review by Rick Broering @ nkysportsblog. Kentucky Rush show well at State AAU

Where can I find the schedule and teams in this tournament?
-
Jim Pitzer, Conner. Went on to have a really nice career at UD in football.
I agree, having played all 3 against him back in the day!

I agree, having played all 3 against him back in the day. (oops...forgot quote)

1 - 4 vs 9th, 1-1 vs 10th. We have 3 more chances this week vs the 9th. Would be nice to sweep these to get to .500 vs the 9th. We went 3-4 against the 9th last year.

I thought 8th region officiating was poor but what I saw down in Augusta was beyond discription. Just one example... hargett gets the ball on a fast break goes up and trys to dunk and gets under cut. Official calls it a regular foul. There was no attempt at a ball foul just a push in the back. Trame ask the ref if there was an attempt to ball foul and the ref told trame he understood his argument.
