  1. WV has one quality win (Owen) but they do have talent, that's all I'm saying. And your prediction for HHS seems to be proving true in the past few weeks.

NeerFan, I really appreciate your objective opinion. WV does have enough talent to beat quality teams such as SK and NCC. When we play hard we compete vs good teams. Small mistakes the whole game is what I see. A turn over, miss free throw, a blown layup.... through the course of a game can make the difference in a win or loss. We only have 1 senior... it could be our overall youth.

  2. Brenden Stanley-- Boone - Starts JV and plays varsity

    Alex Brownell-- Ryle

    Brett Mayberry-- Boone

Austin Schreck-- Dixie - Plays JV

    Carson Bennett-- SK

    Laine Harrett-- Highlands

Grant Moeves-- Walton - Starts JV

    Bo Schuh-- CovCath

    Drew McDonald-- NCC- Starts Varsity

    Andrew Hedger-- Dixie

    Matt Mullins-- SK

    James Bolden-- Holmes

    Conner Kunstek-- St. Henry

    Luke Marksberry-- Ryle

    Jon Liechty-- Cooper

    Nic Watts-- Conner- Starts JV

    Evan Lyons-- CovCath

    Noah Galvin-- CovCath

    Kenny Potter-- Holmes

    Brayden Andersen-- SK

Kyle Doughtery-- Walton - Starts JV and plays varsity

    John Eblin-- Campbell County

    Connor Brock-- Campbell County

Blake Losey-- Campbell County - Starts JV

Nick Niehaus - Dixie - Starts JV and plays varsity

Noah Robinson -SK- Starts JV and plays varsity

Updated the list with what I have knowledge of to date.

    Stanley, Moeves, Pangallo at 2

    Schuh (6'4") at 3

    McDonald (6'4") at 5

    Kunstek (6'3") at 4

***** This team could compete at the AAU level*****

  4. Just one of the sloppiest games i have seen in awhile by both teams. Mcneil was off big time looked like he had no legs short on all of his shoots, even free throws. I did realize why i got away from high school basketball four years ago tonight, the REFS man they are bad all the way around its crazy and sad that khsaa cant find better.

Mcneil was out of it in this game. He shot 2 for 12. Too many unforced mistakes and WV is not sharing the basketball. It's early... hopefully they will fix the offense by the All A.

  5. True family moved in (key word moved) prior to Jake's 7th grade year. I wouldn't say he was an impact player at the Varsity level at that age. Just face it, their starting lineup will consist of 3 kids who all attended other schools, transferred in and were immediate impact players at the varsity level. McClendon played varsity for Holmes his frosh year and then transfers in, starts as a soph. Avery plays Jr high ball at Holmes, transfers in and starts Varsity as a frosh. Campbell attends Cincy schools and then transfers in the first week of November. Hmmmm very interesting.

Its all legal I'm sure as they use the Catholic school angle but lets be honest here, they are building a basketball team here.

If you are following the rules and want to move to a new school district. I don't see a problem with it. It happens... kids don't like a coach, or style of play or competitive issues.

  6. Not sure if skipping a year will help with senior leadership? I think kids look up to those that have made the full commitment to the program?

Senior Dustin Cottrell decided to join the team this week. He's probably the strongest player on the team and pretty athletic. Should help with depth on this team.

  7. When i left the game with about 4 minutes left, Holmes was up 8 points, Colerain matched up with Holmes and both teams used a lot of players, Rice was very impressive and he has taken over in pratice as the leader, Coston did not come into the game until late but hit back to back 3"s , Palmer also hit a couple of 3"s, Engelman had a lot of rebounds, It seems Holmes will be very deep at guard but after Rice and Knox, Holmes becomes very small, should be another exciting year to watch the Dogs.

Holmes is my pick for top spot in the 9th. Walton scrimmaged Holmes and Dixie. Holmes was by far a more complete team. It's preseason but I was impressed with Holmes. Dixie will miss Pike.
