  1. Yup. I hear that the Jennings kid :sssh: is headed to the University of Kentucky. He has decided not to pursue basketball or soccer following high school. Says he is tired of playing hurt and/or injured. Says he just wants to be a college student and perhaps, be a fan for once in his life. He has spent 15 of his 18 years playing one sport or another. He feels it is time to see how the other half lives. I can't blame him. But at the same time, I have enjoyed watching him. Tough decision for him. Very proud.

  2. Just so you all know the refs will not be from around here, they probably will be from ashland or louisville.

I'm not sure what that means. How are the refs from Louisville any different than from around here? In hindsight, I thought the referees did a great job last night. No complaints here. Although, I have never been one to complain about referees. Now my father, that is a different story.

  3. Congrats to Dunbar. They are impressive. They had Brossart on their heels much of the first half. Brossart came out in the 2nd half and looked much better. Dierig and Jennings with goals for Brossart. Congrats the the Mustangs on a great season. All A State Champs, District Champs, and Regional Champs. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my son, Jake Jennings. It has been a pleasure to watch you through the years. Now on to the basketball threads! See all you soccer studs later.

  4. This is a take from a Dunbar fan on the Boone versus Dunbar game earlier in the year. Take it for what it's worth' one fans opinion.

Boone County tied Dunbar today, but don't let that result fool you. It was 3-0 Dunbar when they were playing the starters. Boone County scored 3 in the last 11 minutes of the game against Dunbars last 13 or 14 players in the game.

I think BBHS realizes that they are up against a juggernaut. I think they are pleased with the success they have had this year. They have accomplished the goals they set at the beginning of the season. From this point forward, anything else is simply icing on the cake. Should the Mustangs fail to advance, they will most assuredly root for Dunbar to win the state tournament. At least they will be able to tell their children someday, that they were beaten by the eventual state champion. It should be an exciting and fun atmosphere tomorrow night.

  5. On another thread I predicted a Dunbar vs Trinty final and both teams have advanced to the sweet sixteen. Trinity needed pk's to beat St X and Dunbar just continues on to their championship game. I have predicted a Dunbar championship and the next two teams in their way are 10th region champs BB and then 9th region champs HHS. I understand that BB is planning on playing their game at NKU which IMO is a big mistake. The big field will only give Dunbar more room to play their quick pace style. NK soccer fans who want to see probably the top team in the state should come and watch the game.

    I will be there!

  6. and who? I'm sorry, but if you compare the Scott cards received....especially the reds.....you cannot tell me that the Coach isn't encouraging that behavior.

Terrible reflection on the school and program.....

I think #39. The red card was after BBHS scored their 2nd goal. I think he was upset with the ref over not getting the calls they thought his team should. It was unfortunate. The Scott team played very hard. Not a good way to end their season.

  7. Everyone seems to think that Trinity and Dunbar are already in the state finals. Dunbar hasn't even made the regional finals yet. If they beat Woodford county, they will face Henry Clay most likely, a team that has already tied them. Trinity has to face St. X again. Beating them 1-0 earlier hardly makes them a heavy favorite.... just saying that there's a lot of soccer to play yet. Who knows, it may all play out to Trinity and Dunbar, but I just can't see Henry Clay and St. X rolling over at this point of the season.

My point exactly. Dunbar very well may be the team with the best chance to win it all, but we all know that in soccer, you never know how things are going to play out. Nothing would make us happier than to have an opportunity to play an eventual champion. At least we would know we gave it our best shot. But, as Redcard stated, there's a lot of soccer still to be played before we cross that hurdle.

  8. The tenth regions run ends the game after as they will face the beast that is Dunbar. Dunbar is undefeated and nothing less then state championship is their goal. The 11th region champs will knock the 10th and then the 9th region off on their way to the state championship game. Trinity is the only thing that stands in their way IMO.

Strong statement. From a small school point of view, the Mustangs need to focus on the game at hand. Looking ahead to possible future games doesn't do them any good. We can discuss how dominating Dunbar is, should Bishop Brossart make through their region. Good luck to you and to Dunbar.

  9. Scott at 8-9-1, sports a losing record but that is very deceiving. They were without the services of all District soccer jock Blake Schneider and the services of Treadway for several games. They face off against Montgomery County (on their home turf) who is 14-6-1 and have run off 10 straight victories. It's tough to call this one.

As for the other semi. Brossart comes in having defeated the Thorobreds 5-1 VERY early in the season. Brossart boasts the regions best record of 17-4 but 3 of their losses have come after their All State championship run. Plus the fact that Harrison County sent home a heavily favored Mustang team last season. This game is also a tough call.

I think what you have left is 4 very good soccer teams and all of them have a legit shot at making a nice run after the regional finals.

Ditto. Well said. If you need cash for Thursday, let me know and I will wire you some cash. Would love to see you.

Congrats to the Mustangs. Makes the 2 hour journey worth while.

The attached article gives a little more detail.

Good luck Thursday against the Thorobreds.

TAC, Were you there? I wish I would have known. I would have looked for you. Maybe we can hook up on Thursday. PM me and we can make plans.

  11. I sharpen all of my own knives, as well as several of my friends. I have several types of stones, and at least two Lansky kits. I do not own a paper wheel or expensive equipment. I enjoy sharpening knives. It is a hobby taught to me by my father. My father and I also make fixed blade hunting knives. I enjoy the time I spend with my father, talking about knives we are making or have made, as well as searching flea markets for metal or wood. My father is much better at than I. He can make a knife from an old industrial file or band saw blades. He is quite good at it. I mostly buy blades and make the handles for them. Still fun for me and brings a great deal of satisfaction seeing something I created. I mostly give them to friends and family.

  12. Just saw the score. Any details? CJJennings, where R ya?

Early rise time for me. I went to bed. I thought the game between Scott and BBHS was well officiated. Both teams played well. Scot had only three yellow cards, which was a good night for them. Unlike Sports Fan, I thought Scott played pretty good defense. The Mustangs may have lost one player to injury. Jonn Henn, injured in the first half, was suspected to have a broken ankle, but I have received no word on an actual diagnosis. Both teams move on and I suspect that there may be a chance that they see each other again in the regional.
